This was probably fantastic in it's day. It was written for Windows 95/98 and is entirely incompatible with Windows XP.

This CD rom was given to me as a gift about 6 years ago, when I was a beginner bird watcher. The skills I have acquired are amazing. Sometimes it is easier to identify a bird with this program, than with the field guides I take along on my trips! I Love this product!

"Excellent, but..."
I have had this program for several years and have relied on it a lot for bird identification, unfortuanately, it does not work with Windows 2000 or Windows XP, so it is now useless to me.
When it did work, it was easy to use, and an excellent reference.

MIGHT BE A GREAT CDROM- YOU CAN'T PLAY IT ON WINDOWS XP- SOMETHING THAT THE AD DOES NOT TELL YOU. HOW IRONIC I GOT RID OF MAC SO I COULD PLAY JUST ABOUT ANY CD-ROM AND THIS HAPPENS. OH WELL!!!

"NOTRH AMERICAN BIRDS PETERSON MULTIMEDIA GUIDES", THIS IS JUST WHAT I ORDERED AND IT CAME IN A TIMELY PERIOD OF TIME.

"Great Birding Program", Great birding program for beginners and advanced bird watchers! It also works on Windows XP if you follow these instructions (there may be a sticker on the back of the CD sleeve with these steps): After inserting the disc into your CD ROM drive, go to "My Computer". From there, right click on the "Peterson" icon. Then click "Open" and scroll down until you see an icon that looks like a computer and monitor that says "Install" underneath it. Click on that and it should begin the installation process.

"Works with Win 2000!", I have used this program for years (Ver 1.1) and it has worked on every system I've tried.
I HAVE NOT tried it on XP, but I would believe it should work there also.

No longer produced, but an excellent Birding program!

"Needs Updating for XP", Great program if you're still on Win95 or 98 (don't know about ME), but _don't_ try to install under XP. The install program wants to replace system DLLs (mostly related to ODBC) with much older versions. You don't want to do this.

If you do want to play with this and see what XP's Windows File Protection does, be sure to set a System Restore Point before you try the install. (If most of the above is Greek to you, then just _don't_.)

"No problems with XP home", Wonderful guide. I have no problems running this on XP - Home EXCEPT at a 1280x1064 resolution the window is small. Of course, this is easy to fix. Machine is a 2.2g P4, ATI 9600 pro,
installed cdrom to USB/Firewire external. XP is OEM installed on machine.
