"Useless", If you've dropped the bottle and nipple in toxic waste, this might be more helpful than washing in hot water with antibacterial soap or a dishwasher. Otherwise, I think washing the bottles is better.

"Gets the job done!", This product gets the job done. Does what it says. All you have to do is add water and pop it in the microwave for 2 mins. I wish it were a bit smaller, but I suppose its size accommodates large bottles. I put bottles, pacifiers, breast pump parts in it without a problem.

"Great Price for Peace of Mind", My mom bought this sterilizer for me with my first child and now 4 years later, about to give birth again, we purchased the same one again since it was so convenient. Sterilizing isn't completely necessary, I know, but with this product it is SO EASY I see no reason not to. I have several different brands of bottles and pacifiers and you can put them all in there. My microwave is 900W (I found out by typing in the model number online) so it just takes 4 minutes. We paid $30 at Target for it and I think it's worth it. Much faster than a dishwasher, cheaper than a counter-top sterilizer and you still get everything sterilized with hardly any trouble at all.

"Avent system: excellent quality bottles and nipples, some concern about BPA with heating", Despite the concerns about BPA we are using these bottles for our daughter, and using canned formula to supplement breastfeeding. The concern with BPA seems to be heightened when the bottles are washed with hot water, or sterilized at hot temperatures. We bought this sterilizer, but have stopped using it. However, we still use the dishwasher, which is fairly hot. I am keeping an eye on Avent's statements:

We keep using them because they seem to be really excellent bottles and nipples, she feeds easily and doesn't get a whole lot of gas. The nipples are designed so that you can graduate her to faster flow nipples as she gets bigger. We are hoping that the BPA concerns will turn out to be unwarranted.

"Great product - especially for the price!", I have used the Avent "II" sterilizer found at other retailers. (probably not much difference between the two) I have been using the sterilizer for one month since having my twins. It has really been helpful cleaning non-Avent items (breast pump items, baby bottles, pacifiers, etc.) It can sterilize in 2 minutes (depending on the power of your microwave). You don't HAVE to have this sterilizer, but, it helps if you want to clean a few items without having to boil water each time or running your dishwasher.

It came with two small Avent bottles. I'm not reviewing the bottles themselves - that's another topic. However, this is a nice feature so you can try these bottles out to determine if you want to use their bottles or not.

"Can't live without it...", I don't have a dishwasher. I originally registered for the huge electric sterilizer but when I didn't get it at the shower I bought this one intead. It's wonderful. I can sterilize everything in it. Teething rings, bottles, pacifiers, toys, you name it. I have a small kitchen and don't have enough counter space for the huge electric one. This one is small enough to fit in my cabinet. And it's so easy...pile everything in, 200 ml's of water and it keeps things sterile (if unopened) for up to 24 hours. Can't live without it. I LOVE this sterilizer!!

"Great product! Love it!", It's been using a couple times everyday since I bought it.
Easy to use and quick sterilizing. Only thing I feel not good is that the bottles included are not so useful. The lid with the nipple is not compatible with other brand bottles, such as Medela's.
It is a good buy for me!


"Contains BPA/ Bishpenol A I'm Returning All Avent Products!", Just wanted to inform all parents out there that AVENT products contain BPA/ Bisphenol A. I'm returning everything to Babies R Us. It's in their pacifiers and bottles and I'm pretty sure their breast pump as well. Needless to say I am returning my sterilizer, bottles, pacifier and pump. I then decided to go with Born Free bottles and sterilizer,Soothie pacifier and the Gerber Nuk pacifiers,and Medela pump. All their products are BPA Free. You do the research and decide if you will buy or continue to use their products. I've already written the President, my senators, and Oprah. Hopefully together we can keep our children safe.

"Single Greatest Time Saver Ever!", Time is precious with a new baby, the last thing you want to do is spend those few quiet minutes that you do have sterilizing bottles the old fashioned way. With my first baby I boiled everything. It took forever and I absolutely dreaded doing it everyday. With this sterilizer it's a snap. I just put everything in the tray, add water and pop it in the microwave. Can't beat the price either. I would recommend this item to anyone.

"Really didn't need it...", This is a great product, I used it a few times, but honestly didn't need it. If you own a dishwasher, it's much easier to sterilize your bottles in that. I breastfed my son and assumed since I wouldn't be using a ton of bottles that this would be nice to just sterilize the occasional bottle, manual pump and pacifiers, etc. But it wasn't practical. I can't imagine it would be very helpful for moms who use many bottles a day.

Bottle feeding friends of mine used the disposable sterilizing bags instead of this, they said they were good in a pinch and didn't take up precious cupboard space.
