"A cool game, except for crumpy graphics"
Yes, Driver 2 is known as cool game and a bad graphic made game. I like the cities and all but, missions are too hard and images are like stupid. I would recommend Driver 1 and Driv3r because they are better at playing. The foot missions are kinda cool, but Atari/Infogrames, increase graphics when releasing Driv3r.

"Awesome Game!"
Driver 2 is a great game. It has good sound,, good control, and it's a lot of fun. I haven't played the first one so I don't know how much worse or better the second version is from the first version. The only problemm is that iit's graphics are a little off, but otherwise, it's a great game.

Graphics 3/5
Sound 5/5
Control 5/5
Gameplay 5/5
Replay 5/5

Overall - 4.6/5

"Better , But Still A Let Down"
Although better than the first driver, I think this game was a total let down. First of all, I thought you would be able to have a gun. This, like many other of my beliefs, was wrong. Although you were able to get out of your car and steel other cars, there was no point of doing this, because there were almost no other cars to steel. A third of the cars were the EXACT same car that you were. Another third was the same car as you, except a different color. The last third of the cars were a little bit different, for example most of them had really long and ugly fenders. I thought there would be better cars, as in porsches and ferraris. Finally there was two CDs. The second one, which may have been ok, was inaccessible unless you beat the first CD, which was IMPOSSIBLE. Not even supermen could complete the missions given to you, because the missions were really hard, and when you were about to beat them, the game would freeze. The only reason why I gave this game 1 star was because it was better than the last one, and the last one I gave 0 stars.

"He is back in buisness"
This game is about a driver on the run,you can drive fast past police cars and get chased. Plus you can get out of the car.

The game is designed for people aged 8 and over because of the great driving, its great for the family. There is no swearing so its O.K for younger children.

I liked it because of all the fast driving and pinching other cars.

"My favorite ps1 game. 15th april 2004."
When i had it i was playing on it all the time, it is ever so obsessive. Once you start playing on it you don't want to come off it. There are different driving games on it, but i only go on the driver game. You can drive like you were driving for real life, but the police cars can catch you easy. ACEEEEEEEEEEE!

"HAS FUN LEFT IN IT 7.25 OUT OF 10", Before there was Grand Theft Auto III(PS2, Xbox), there was Driver 2. When I was younger I would sit around for hours playing this game on my brother's PSone. Sadly, some of that fun I once felt has worn off in the wake of owning games like Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas, Saints Row, and Crackdown which have vastly improved the car theft and missions seen in games today. However, even though these games made the formula more fun I still like to go back and play this game just to crash cars, steal cars, and get chased by the incompetent police forces in the game. The controls are at times a little wonky, the camera kinda sucks, the character is slow at moving, and the music lacks any kind of pulse. This game is still fun despite being aged and having the problems that plagued many PSone games and is easily recommendable to someone who enjoys Grand Theft Auto-type games.

--------------------------------------------------

I *LOVE* Grand Theft Auto 3 (for the Playstation 2) and I wanted a game that would be similar to it. I know that no game, except for possibly GTA4, could even come close to GTA3, but I still wanted "more." From what I read about this game, it seemed like a poor man's GTA3. I had Driver 1 on the PC, but could never actually play the game itself because I could not pass that stupid driving test at the beginning of "Undercover" mode. When I read that Driver 2 did not have a driving test, that gave me even more reason to want it.

GAMEPLAY

When I popped the game into my PS2, I immediately went into "Free Ride" mode so that I could get a feel for the controls and check out the scenery a bit. I didn't even move one inch when the cops were after me. Yes, that's right, I was STANDING STILL and the cops were on my b-u-t-t. If the cops are going to be on me like white on rice, I'd at least like to know WHY. I gave the cops no resistance, allowing them the chance to come up to the car and pull me out (like real cops would, and those in GTA3), but they thought it would be best to just keep ramming me!?!

Since this game lacks the Police Bribes and the Pay And Spray of GTA3, the only way I could get the cops off my tail and reduce my felony meter (the equivalent of GTA3's Wanted stars meter) was to hitail it out of there in the hopes that I could lose them. Even though the game promises that you can wipe your felony meter clean by getting out of your vehicle and carjacking another one, since you can't get out of the car and switch vehicles while being wanted/chased, there's no practical use of this "feature."

I decided to try the main "Undercover" mode, hoping that it would be better. The first mission was simple enough. Get from point A to point B. The first time I tried it I failed it because I didn't get to the place on time (I was going the wrong way from the start). Once I figured out that all I had to do was make two lefts then go right every chance I could, I got to the destination with time to spare. Mission 1 Passed! Perhaps this game WOULD get better ... until Mission 2, that is!

Mission 2 involves you having to follow another car. The problem is, unless you're (at most) two car lengths behind him, the game will say that you lost him and thus failed the mission ... even though his car is clearly visible on the screen! After attempting this mission three or four more times, only to get as far as around the corner, I had enough punishment and immediately decided to bring the game back to the store with my Mom's receipt to get a different game. ANY game would be better, even Barney The Dinosaur!

Not even cheats codes could help make this game playable. I used two Game Shark codes to unlock the in-game Invincibility and Immunity (no felony) cheats. However, neither of these would help with mission 2. The Infinite Time Game Shark code would not work, otherwise I *might* have had a chance of barely playing the game ... the key words there are "might" and "barely."

GRAPHICS

This game has the WORST graphics ever seen in a video game of any age. Pong and Pac-Man look high-tech compared to this.

There is more pop-up in Driver 2 than in a marathon of Pop-Up Video on VH-1. You look ahead and see an open piece of land. You plan to cut across that land in order to make the turn at a high speed without having to slow down (or just to take a shortcut). Just as you get within a car's length of that land, a building pops up out of nowhere. BAM! You crashed and damaged your car. Repeat indefinitely and you've got the graphics of Driver 2.

REPLAYABILITY

In order to have replayability, a game must first have playability.

TO BUY OR TO RENT?

NEITHER!

I wouldn't even give the CD to my dog as a chew toy.

If it were possible, I would have given this game a 0 rating. Then again, it kinda deserves the 1 because it has one redeeming quality: it makes a great coaster!

"Too scary", this scares me and when they have the mission with peoplei n the vents it scared my half to death DO NOT BUY IT FOR YOUR CHILD

"A VERY WORTHY TITLE", This is a fun game, and realistic too, also this game improves from Driver 1 instead of the same cop cars in the same cities you get different ones(I.E. Chicago has white-and-blue cop cars that go fast and have good endurance. And Havana has big black-and-white cop cars that r big with one siren and u can easily lose the cops in this city.) And the cities have different cars and styles.GRAPHICS:3/5:The graphics have actually dropped from the Driver 1,b-cos the cars look more blocky but you still get the realistic car effects.SOUND:5/5:The sound ain`t ennoying to me the background music is kind of cool but i am so used to being in Chicago that the music always go`s in to my head when thinking/playing Driver 2,the music in Havana sounds more like action the damaging effects also sound realistic.THE STORY:5/5:(The story isn`t any thing like Driver 1 but the story seems to have also continue into Driver 3)The story is about the criminals cocky bookkeeper cuts a deal with his greatest rival but Soloman Caine and his hired Hitman,Jericho go`s in the pub they are in,called The Red Driver in an attempt to kill Lenny but misses him and he escapes but they then kill the Brazzilian Gangster, which is tooken into a Forensic lab to investigate.and then Tanner(The Charictor u play) then has to meet his partner Tobias Jones so they can follow a Witness, who seen the deal that went on but when they catch him instead of treating him mannerly they take him hostage until he spits out imfo and the story begins.GAMEPLAY:4/5: The gameplay is very fun,you get to exit your car and steal another or walk around and sit down or you can stay in your car and make a mini movie by first getting the law on your tail and go do some stunts like skids,Donuts and go up ramps(Especially the lift bridge in Chicago) and then when you wreck yourself, replay it, and see your actions in Cinematic view and then use the fabulus "Film Director"(A Feature that was in troduced in the first Driver, but i forgot to mention it in my other review) to make your own movies(I am talking about the cool Take A Ride mode).the only down falls are is that there are many glitches such as ppl walk thru buildings and once the police set Tanner up i seen a police car so i decided to follow it,driving like the other, good guys so i could attempt to steal it but when he turned the corner and i followed him there was auto-matic 77% felony and a road block of police cars!.CYA Lata

"Very Good game", I love driver 2 my 14 year old friend bought it last year and he let me borrrow it I played it more then him I never beat the game but almost did using cheats My favorite part was taking different cars I liked the limos in Vegas best the cars look cool the places look realistic and the damage is realistic I like playing take a ride it's fun using all the different kinds of cars. like I said FUN FUN FUN buy it on EBAY AMAZON or EBGAMES.com

"Could have been a lot Better!", When Driver 1 was released, that had to be one of the greatest driving games around in 1999. Although, when Infogrames released Driver 2, I wasn't sure where they were heading. The first thing I noticed about Driver 2 was the way the graphics looked and how slower the frame rate was. The graphics looked very dry and had a used type look in which I wasn't pleased about. There's also frame problems when your car gets smashed into a building. Driver 2 has the same Survival driving mode, although not as exciting as in Driver 1. There's something about this game that makes the value go down. In Driver 1, you would just drive around Los Angeles in the downtown area, just enjoying the traffic and the cops chasing you. Driver 2 doesn't have that value -- even though you can play Las Vegas at night -- just doesn't make it. Although, its story does make up for the game, and the semi-realistic gameplay is present -- smashing cars up. I just don't have the enthusiam to play this game because of its lack of action and realism.

I loved Driver 1 and still play it today, but I have Driver 2 and it's just under my other playstation games--you're going to be dissappointed with Driver 2--if you loved Driver 1 in most cases.

"Good but exspensive", Driver 2 is a fun game but, it's pretty hard to beat. It's like life with the mob, with out the danger. The game is a little to expensive I saw it at wallmart for $9.95.

"I've had more fun with paper.", To be quite frank, this has to be one of the worst games ever. The storyline is really complicated, but even if you had the patience to watch the movie clips time and time again it's boring. The graphics look like someone painted cardboard boxes to look like buildings and called it Chicago. Controls are okay, though cars seem to make tight turns when you want soft turns and soft turns when you want tight ones. Not to mention that when on foot, the only directions that the "driver" can go is forward and slowly backwards. So if the "bad guy" is getting away your only chance of catching him is to rotate until you see a car, go forward, position yourself right in the exact front of the door, press triangle and hope that the "bad guy" is as drunk as the "driver" is. Also, the cop's AI is worse than George Bush's ability to think. If you go any faster than 2 miles per hour, or drive one inch away from the left side, or do anything that a normal person would do, you're gonna have cops ramming into your car. But most important, this game is not fun. It's frustrating. After two hours of trying to beat a train to a car you'll bash your Playstation with your fists. Hey, it's more fun, right?

"[Insert title here]", An interesting game at first, but it gets boring after awhile because it seems like you just do the same thing.

"Not bad", Driver 2 is a good game. First of all, the idea of getting out of your car and stealing another is great. Also, the levels are huge. The graphics are ok, but nothing really special. During movie sequences, though, the graphics are good. Don't get fooled by it saying multiplayer, its not great. You can't get out of your car, there are no civilians and you can only play half of a level. But, in the end Driver 2 is a good game and I recommend it to anyone.
