"This is the worst software I have used in 20 years!!!!!", Ok so maybe it is only 20 bucks and I shouldn't expect miracles. Yeah and I can deal with the fact that it won't make a series of porch roofs all the same height no matter what and that shed roofs go on backwards. And that it has gaps in the roofs & roofs in the middle of walls & and won't let you add freestyle rooms & when you move a wall you get screwy angles....(breath)... Ok, and I only get mildly irritated when it gives generic error messages about no outside walls and rooms not matching with no clue as to exactly what is wrong then suddenly it will fix itself with a meer 30 minutes or so of wasted time. But when it continually crashes over and over without any sort of warning or locks up solid just because it can....I get livid. I have paid far less for sofware that worked perfectly fine within it's program limitations. This is the single worst piece of software I have had the displeasure of owning in over 20 years. Stay away...unless you are a true masochist & enjoy self torture.

"Customer Service is the Pits", The software and the company are LAME. I was told they didn't have to return my money because "our lawyers wrote the return policy" and that they'd had "four of you guys" today that called to request refunds for the same product. Took 7 days to return my call, offered NO apology for the unstable program they'd sold and the problems I had experienced, insisted it was my design that made the program continually crash, and insisted I reinstall it and add patches to fix their problems, and they'd STILL not refund my money.
I bought it at Target for 20 dollars and the supervisor actually said on the phone: "You get what you pay for, it was only $20, what did you think it was going to do? Make a set of plans for you?" They know NOTHING about keeping customers happy and are CLUELESS. The program is limited and unstable. Fortunatley Target flexed on their return policy when they heard the horror stories, and I plan on making sure all consumer web sites are aware of these bozos!

"Absolute piece of junk", I agree that this is a terrible piece of software. There isnt one thing that can be done without the program crashing. I made the mistake of buying their landscape design product too. The funny thing is installing that product will get this product all confused. The help, step by step guide from any product will launch the help/guide from the landscape design product. I uninstalled the landscape product, which made the home delux product to not even startup. Overall this is gottu be the most horrible product that i have ever bought. Dont waste your time on this one.

"One star is too many....", PLEASE...save yourself the headache! Read version7 reviews and decide for yourself if you really have the time to deal with such a program or company.

I've sent Individual all the links about their customers' experience. I don't think it will do any good but I think they should know the percentage of people writing negative reviews on their products.

My next site to "update" will be Cnet and Consumer Reports (if they have a section for something like this).

Avoid this program at all costs. I will update you all if they EVER reply to my e-mail. However, I will not hold my breath.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Awesome Graphics & Easy To Use", I've had this product for a few years now and used it on several different computers ranging from an NEC 166 mhz computer to an Ahtlon 2400 xp. It seems to reason that it works better on a faster computer with more memory and the 'bigger' your project gets the more speed and memory you need to operate the program. But overall, I've created some awesome floor plans with this product and the rendering feature is incredible for a novice designer. No, you won't be able to reproduce a buildable model of your future house and give it to your contractor, but that's not what this product is for. I'm not sure why so many people have trouble navigating the software either. It's pretty much self explanatory even without reading the instructions.

There are several features I like about the program. One is the ability to see your house from every different direction. Not only that but it's awesome to be inside a room, drag and drop a window and instantly see to the 'outside'. Another feature I particularly like is being able to open a space on the 2nd floor to see the room below and the ability to make multilevel designs and then, if your computer is fast enough, furnish it room by room. There are also an infinate number of wallpapers, floor coverings and furnishings. But the most amazing thing to me is the lighting effects when rendering a specific view. Even the kitchen cabinets have an option to show lighting effects beneath each cabinet.

The only thing I don't like about the program is the snapping feature. Sometimes objects snap to walls and other objects placed to close to them. On slower computers the program can just close out creating a program error, so the best advice is to periodically save whatever your working in the event this happens. The last thing I don't' like is when installing the program, it also installs an AOL icon on my desktop. If I wanted AOL, I'd send for their cd.

All in all, it's a good buy for what you get. And no, I'm not an employee at Broderbund...

"What's wrong with everyone??", I love this program! ...
I have a low end computer, around 3 years old, with Windows XP and the program works just fine for me, no shutdowns, no illegal operations, no problems! I haven't had any "Floating Furniture" either. Its simple to use, the only complaint I have is the same complaint someone else had: You don't know how big your room is till you start putting things in there. I built my house only to find out that the bed was about as large as the room. Other than that, I love it. I had a bit more problems with another program called 3D Virtual Reality Architect. I do suggest [you] go for it and pick it up.

"Broderbund Home Suite Design Warning", Reviewing Total 3D Home Suite which seems to bundle most everything they offer. Very frustrating, counter-intuitive, difficult to work with, no tutorial, help not very helpful. Unless you are experiences with their products and have figured out some magic way to make them helpful, I could not recommend them.

"Disappointed with product!", I was very disappointed with the capabilities of this software. If you seriously want to design or remodel your home, I suggest purchasing something else.

"Too unstable of a product to be useful", I used this product to try to help me redesign my current house. A bit of background: I've used many 3d editing packages in the past, so I know what I'm doing. The user interface isn't the best, but it's workable. The problem is that the software is so unstable as to be useless: Imagine working on a design for a couple of hours and have the program crash. What's that I hear? I should have saved it? I did save it. Frequently. Unfortunately, the save file was corrupted in some way that once I load it, the program crashes almost immediately. If you must use this product, save frequently and to new file names.

And even when this product worked, it didn't work well. I tried several roof lines for a very basic house layout and most failed profoundly. Modifications I did in one view would be lost after switching to another view and back again. I can't adequately commuicate the frustration of using this poorly written software.

By the way, the system I was running on was a very fast (1.1Ghz) system with 512Mb of RAM, so there shouldn't have been a memory or speed problem.

Don't buy this program. It's an embarassment to Broderbund.
