"Greatest game ever" Although I am too picky, I liked monkey island so much. From the moment I played the demo, I knew this game would be great. What I like about the series are the great graphics, wonderful music, u can (almost always!) never be killed, and all the puzzels make sense. Thank you Lucas Arts.
"Adventure gaming in it's prime" This is probally the finest example for Monkey Island rookies to start playing at..While the other two before it were praised for their innovations and humor, the graphics are just too pixelated for many of today's gamers to take seriously..On the contrary, MI3's hand drawn artwork can still be appreciated today, as all good productions made during this time period have the anti-dated technology of plain old fashioned well drawn art to guide them..This game takes almost everything that was good about the first few and makes the generational leap to a more visually realized gaming universe..
"Fun for the Wife and I" The games that I play and the ones that My wife likes tend to run a little differently, but this is one that we both enjoy and that made it even better because it is one that we can play together. I don't think that I have ever been disapointed by Lucas Arts, or their products.
"Great Game" This is without a doubt the single best adventure game of all time!
"The Monkeys Are Listening..." The third game in the Monkey Island series is a fun game for all ages (though the puzzles, due to their inane oddness, may complex younger gamers). The familiar music is there, as well as some of the funniest/groaning (depending on your humour) jokes ever to grace a computer game. Unfortunately, Le Chuck has returned also, as the meanest, deadest demon-pirate ever to sail the seven seas!
Guybrush Threepwood returns as the slightly under-the-thumb wannabe pirate. In true pirate-style yarn, his one true love - Governor Elaine Marley - has been turned into a gold statue, due to a cursed ring Guybrush slipped onto her finger. He must save her before Le Chuck (who has a crush on her himself) takes her away.
I have been a big fan of the Monkey Island games since I played the first one on my Amiga years and years ago. The graphics have improved (which were great anyway - for the time) with cartoonish animations. But, it also retains the lush, colourful tropical backgrounds that have become familiar backdrops to the locations - such as Melee Island and Monkey Island.
As well as funny characters for the kids (Stan the skull, the voodoo lady among others), there are also loads of in-jokes and subtle satire for the grown ups to enjoy to. The interface has slightly changed, though it is easy to grasp in no time.
The puzzles can be too obscure for their own good though - some puzzles are solved by means of elimination rather than thought and ingenuity. Despite this, this is a game for all - especially for fans of Pirates of the Caribbean (is it me or is the film VERY similar? Must be coincidence...must be).
Anyway, if you are after a humorous, witty game, with unique colourful characters (and baddies) then this is the game for you.
It is just a shame that LucasArts have left the series to memories. Surely, there are only so many Star Wars games that can be made...isn't there?

What our customer's say!
"Outstanding! Hands down the best adventure game out there!", The Monkey Island (MI) series is by far the best adventure game series. The puzzles are challenging yet logical and the graphics on this is wonderful! I love the cartoony graphics.
The Curse of Monkey Island is, in my opinion, the best of the MI series. The intuitive point-and-click controls make it a snap to control Guybrush and the hillarious yet challenging puzzles, great voices, and wonderful acting make this a highly engrossing game.
I unfortunately lost the second CD on this game and tore the house upside down looking for it. I'm considering buying it again. It's THAT good!
I rarely give 5 stars, only reserving the ranking for the best of the best, and the Curse of Monkey Island certainly is the best.
"Runs smoothly in XP", After 10 years, the graphics still look great. I really like it. Especially full voice dialoge.
It runs smoothly in Windows XP, and you have use ScummVM in order to do that. (The game can run without it, but I have faced voice repeating problem)
You can download ScummVM at [...]
"WOW!", Get this game! Great style, a lot of fun, great humor, difficult, yet fun to figure out. Why aren't there more games like this?
"My Favorite", SIMPLY THE BEST GAME EVER!!! I have played all of the Monkey Island games, and my favorite is CMI. The controls and format are much more enjoyable to play than even the last MI (Escape from...). I replay this game at least once a year, and I appreciate the 2 levels of play. Mega-monkey level has more puzzles, adding more difficulty for repeat players. MI is my favorite series of games with entertaining storylines, cutscenes, humor, and inside jokes--though I have to admit the LucasArts "no death" policy is attractive. Call me a wimp, but I don't like to die and restart after investing several hours into a game!!
""Ughhh.... porcelain."", The Monkey Island series have always been among the greatest of adventure games. Curse of Monkey Island is my favorite in the series, mainly for it's spectacular animation and side-splitting dialogue. And what other game allows you to store massive ram-rods in your pants? It took me nearly 20 hours to beat this game, although it really isn't very long. The puzzles are amazing, yet fiercely difficult at times. More than once was I crying to the skies in frustration while playing the game. But lord, was it worth it. From beginng to the end, Curse of Monkey Island will have you laughing.

"question", i used to have this game along time ago, and i cant find it so i want to buy it again, but it says windows 95/98, does anyone know if it will run on my xp?
"Awesome mystery solving game", Great game. Buy it now! Tell them to make more of these games so I can play them.
"COTI--A new classic", Another step in the succesful Tower Island series, though this misses the charm of SOTI and TI2KJR,it is still a classic.Ever since the invention of Guybrush and his Magnon Croboys adventures he has been regarded as a computer-game saint. Now comes the next puzzly Nachitov Croboys chapter.
"Great jumping Monkeys! This game still rocks!", The Curse of Monkey Island is the 3rd game in Lucasarts' highly acclaimed graphic adventure series, and finds our hero Guybrush Threepwood tasked with removing a cursed ring that has turned his girlfriend into a gold statue.
My siblings and I dug this game out over the holidays, and (having memorized all the solutions to all the puzzles) went through it in one straight session. This game holds up surprisingly well for being close to a decade old. The graphics look like they were pulled straight from a cartoon, and only the pixelation in the cutscenes will hint at the game's true age. The voice acting is spot-on perfect (Alan Young, voice of Scrooge McDuck, has a hilarious role), with lots of clever dialogue and delivery and occasional references to Star Wars and other Lucasarts games. Puzzles are reasonably challenging without being too obscure, and most gamers should be able to find their way to the end without consulting a walkthrough too much, if at all.
The major strike against this game is that if you're not familiar with the Monkey Island series, a portion of the story and background will leave you scratching your head (such as why Guybrush starts the game floating in a bumper car in the middle of the ocean). The first two installments in the game were DOS-based, and they were old even when Curse of Monkey Island was new. There's actually a huge portion of the game at the end dedicated to sorting out all the various plot threads of the series, and new players might find this a little drawn out. Still, the basic premise of the game is simple enough to follow.
There's no guarantee this game will work on WindowsXP, but I've had no problems running it, so it's worth giving it a shot (a group of fans also developed programs to make the game run smoother, for those having difficulty with it). The Curse of Monkey Island is a classic game in a genre that has been criminally neglected in today's gaming industry.
"best ever", easily one of the best point and click adventure games. end of story....
