"The best helicopter sim on the pc"
When i bought this game I didnt even want it, it came with another game that I did want. But when i installed this I was blown away, this game the $hit. You can either pilot an American Commanche or a Russian Hokum, personally I prefer the Commanche. The controls take getting used to but the flying and the combat are wonderful, it has a complete and detailed manual and the game is very accurate. The graphics are the best part, they make combat flight simulator 2 look like an atari game, the system requirements are low and it runs on windows xp. This game is highly underrated and it is unfortunatley an overlooked gem that deserves more attention.

"Nice game but...."
Enemy Engaged is a nice game. The graphics look great and the gameplay is detailed and realistic. Almost too realistic actually. If you are looking for a sim that has a lot of high octane action that has you scrambling to take out multiple enemies all at once, look elsewhere. Action is not the focus of EE. Realism is the name of the game.

Overall a good game. Tech. support could be better though.

"Great gameplay and graphics but it got old quite fast"
When I went game shopping at (a retail store), I saw this cover which caught my eye. I went home to check the reviews, all of which said it was a great game. I went back the next day and bought it. I excitedly brought it home to find it was an instant hit.

But like most fads, it faded away quickly. If they had put in more sounds besides the hum of the engine, it would have been more exciting. Also, if they added more gameplay styles besides wait 5 minutes on 4x speed increase with the autopilot, shoot a couple of times, turn around, wait another 5 minutes on auto pilot, then repeat it over and over. This is not a game for excitement.

This is a game for realism. Every single graphic in the game was realistic. The physics were realistic, difficulty had the option of being realistic, and the war was realistic.

What really kept me going was the fact that it was a war simulation. You could watch the whole war and effect the outcome. Unlike most flight sims, there aren't "levels," or seperate missions which seperated the excitement of battle. You can choose your mission, and the battle keeps going every second.

Overall, this game was excellent, but the repetition was annoying.

"Couldnt get it to work, Customer care no help"
Well, I went out and bought this game, installed it into my windows ME machine, 800mhz, 256 Ram, 64M video card..all looked good to me, but program wont run at all. Customer support says "We don't know if it works with Windows ME" I would think this would be something they should know! Bottom line is, I am taking it back and waiting for comanche4 to come out.

I still have no idea why it wont work. Very frustrating to talk to customer service that doesn't even know what they are talking about!

That in itself tells me to look elsewhere for good product with good support.

"enemy engaged comanche versus hokum"
looks like it might be a nice game except it won,t work with
sidewindder precision 2 joystick.and no help from razorworks.

What our customer's say!

"The Best Combat Helicopter Flight Sim!!!", This is the follow-up to the acclaimed Enemy Engaged: Apache Havoc sim and just expands on the incredible depth and immersion of the first simulation. In "Enemy Engaged: Rah-66 Comanche versus KA-52 Hokum", two state of the art war machines are placed in your hands. The U.S. has the RAH-66 Comanche and the Russian side uses the Ka-52 Hokum B. The flight systems and modeling is detailed and spectacular, but the game wasn't only built with the veteran flight sim jockey in mind. Razorworks put the ability to change the difficultly into the game, so that each gamer could progress at their own speed. Since the game was released in 2000, computer hardware and operating system software has changed and evolved, which may cause difficulty with someone installing this for the first time, but the Enemy Engaged sim community at SimHQ.com has addressed the problems of new hardware and has even advanced the game to spectacular levels of detail. While 'Comanche vs. Hokum' is a stand alone game, it can be combined with 'Apache Havoc' which enables the user to have four aircraft (Apache, Havoc, Comanche, Hokum) and combat areas of both games. While you can fly the aircraft using the keyboard, it's highly advised to use at least a joystick and preferably a throttle and pedals. I've logged hundreds of hours in this simulation and still play it today, using up-to-date hardware and software. This game is a "MUST HAVE" for any helicopter simulation enthusiast.

"bummer", i also could not get the game to run.installed fine on a very upgraded HP running xp but couldnt get any keyboard or joystick controls to respond, even though the game recognised my joystick.I also could not get the cd game manual to run.dl'ing updates proved useless as well.too bad as the game appears awesome to those it decides to play for :\

"what is going on?", I bought this game in anticipation of a better sequel to Razorworks Apache/Havoc, but I could not get the game to work right, and I tried it on 3 seperate systems! The game loaded O.K., but when I tried to use a joystick the views were locked in a certain position. It was impossible to fly! I even downloaded the demo version and the same thing happened! I tried to get support from Take2 Interactive with no luck. So I just gave up! Bummer!

"BEST HELICOPTER FLIGHT SIM EVER", To say the least this simulator is the BEST. Its Graphics are excellent and AI is Very Good. This simulator has a somewhat eerie reality to it. Although to get the most fun out of it I highly suggest that you also have Enemy Engaged Apache Vs. Havoc installed so that when playing Comanche Vs. Hokum you can also fly the AH-64D Apache for the USA or the Mi-28N havoc-B For Russia, also having Apache Vs. Havoc allows you to fly in 6 different campaigns all over the world from the Middle East to The Jungles of Eastern Asia to small island of Cuba, in any of the 4 Combat Helicopters. Comanche Vs. Hokum also provides much better control over your wingmen than any other combat simulator I have ever experienced. You have about 20 different radio commands, including 6 different formations for your flight group, as well as 16 different mission types. Also there are so many different types of aircraft in the game, assault, recon, attack, transport helicopters on both sides, as well as numerous `fast movers' such as AV-8B's, F-16's, F-18's, A-10's, C-130's, C-17's and that is just for the Americans, the Russians have: Attack, Recon, Assault, Transport, Russians also use `fast movers' such as Su-25's, Mig-29's, Yak-41's Su-27, as well as a variety of Heavy lift Fixed wing transports.
But one of the things that I love the most is the Ground war that is constantly going on. Even when you are not actively engaged (or even flying) AI troops are `sluggin it out' on the ground and in the air, although this may not directly affect YOU it may in the future... meaning a lack of fuel, or ammo during later missions.
Once again I will say that this simulator is THE BEST that there is. It is totally worth the small amount of money that you pay for it, Remember this little box can provide hundreds of hours of relentless entertainment.

"ghostriders", one thing about this game I don't like is your recon missions
you have to fly to close for a recon mission in some cases you will get shot down.

"An OK game, but...", Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Commanche Vs. KA-52 Hokum is, essentialy, a military simulator. Tragically, therein lies it's demise. Overall, EE (lets call it that for the sake of simplicity) has very few bugs. The only one I encountered was that the rudder funtion would stick sporadically and frequently, sending my chopper into a dizzying spin. I fixed this by setting the rudder function to "Rudder pedals" as opposed to the "x" and "Y" keys. Since I didn't have any pedals, my birds would no longer spin: obviously, if I wanted them to rotate for a better shot I was out of luck. The graphics were wonderful, the explosions brilliant, the physics very realistic, the radio chatter convincing, the missions beleivable, the enemies intelligent. But, I found, it got old pretty quick. For an example mission: I hop in my Commanche for a SEAD (suppression of enemy air defences) mission. After twenty-five minutes of flying over boring terrain, I see that my targets were coming within range. I pull into a hover, activate my Hellfires, wait for a lock, then fire away. In a few minutes all the SAMs are craters, not knowing what hit them or even having a chance to shoot back. I head back to base. Halfay there, I top a ridge and find myself sitting on top of about four SAMs and six tanks with machine guns (the hill masked their radar signatures). I'm a smoking hull in about 1.6 seconds. They give me a Purple Heart (by now I have about twenty of 'em). I find myself wondering why I spent all that money on a game that can't even get my blood pumping. So, ultimately, this game is technically flawless, but, simply put...boring. Trust me, there are much better games you can spend your money on.

"Love this game!!!", Ok, here was my situation. I am dying for a good chopper sim, I have Commanche Gold but that is like a kiddie sim. Then suddenly its "Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Commanche vs. KA-52 Hokum B:Aligator" It is buy far the longest name I've seen. Well I was a little scared with my experience with "Gunship!." So i get the nerve up and order this game, I see the ups truck and I have a feeling that I am going to be in for some real Whirly Bird action. I pop the CD into the drive, then after a several minute installation I start the game. I see four choices the first being combat so I click it, next another menu appears I click Free Flight and select a region. Suddenly I am in Russia's finest attack helicopter on the deck of the KIEV aircraft Carrying Cruiser. So I take-off and decide to play with the radar, I get it working and decide, let me betray my comrads and get them, I get good tone!! IGLA AWAY!!!!! suddenly another KA-52 is destroyed but I was too close!!! I take damage and I am going down!!!!!!!! Luckily I am in the Hokum the only Helo in the world with and ejection seat. Then I said to myself, Scott you finally nailed a good helo sim.

I am happy with my purchase and I feel like sharing the wealth.

This is one of my most highly recommended Games Out there, Perfect for you weekend armchair pilots!!!!

"more of the best", If you loved the realism and feel of apache/havoc, this sim stays true to it. Both the hokum and comanche flight models are excellent with improved graphics and cockpit interiors. Likewise, if you already own apache/havoc, the two sims can be combined for double the flying arenas. A must-buy for helicopter sim lovers.

"Commanche Demo Looks Cool", I have play Apache Havoc. I recently download a demo of the game. It is neat to control two fierce attack helicopters in the world. It been while since Longbow or Longbow 2 that have been released. Empire Ravorworks is pretty good game developing it is very good keeping system requirements down. It seem like their are less simulation in development. But Mig Alley was good game.
