"Awesome, very easy to use, firm grip"
I am using this for the past 6 months, i couldn't ask for a better mouse/trackball. This perfectly fits my hand and never have to move my hand. I took this when i was experiencing slight pain. I use computers for nearly 10-14 hrs a day average.

I highly recommend this.

"Receiver too big."
After being a trackball user for many years I could not get used to using a standard mouse with my new laptop.
When I saw that a wireless trackball was available I ordered it.
I made the mistake of assuming the USB reciever would be the typical flash drive size. No Way. The reciever is a piece of machinery the size of the mouse itself on the end of a six foot cord. Very clunky to use with a laptop. Would be fine with a desk unit.
No where on the Logitech site was the size of the receiver shown. Bad on me.
Of course the trackball works fine. No complaints there.

"Very good/comfortable trackball but NOT FOR MAC and NOT FOR LAPTOPS"
I recently purchased two of the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel trackballs. I needed/wanted one for my desktop Windows PC and one for my desktop Mac. I first hooked it up and installed it on the Windows PC and immediately loved it. Its ergonomic design makes it very comfortable (only for right handers) and the tracking is very responsive. I looked forward to installing it on my Mac.

I researched customer reviews, Loitech's Web site, PC World's Web site and Mac World. I could not find any support or even troubleshooting ideas for getting this product to work with my Mac. I was disappointed because I really do like the trackball. Additionally, the packaging claims that it is Mac compatible but if that's true, there's no help or Mac related instructions. Even the CD ROM that comes with the trackball does not have any MAC executables on it. So, I sent it (the second one) back. After doing some more research I bought, for my Mac, the Kensington Expert Mouse Trackball (model number 646325). Guess what? IT IS WAY BETTER than the Logitech. It is more expensive and it is NOT WIRELESS but in addition to being extrmely comfortable and responsive, it comes with a detachable wrist rest. I've priced comparable wrists rests and a comparable one is $15 - $20.

The Logitech is not suitable for laptops because a wired USB receiver needs to be plugged into your computer for the trackball to work. This would be very cumbersome in a laptop environment.

So, while the Logitech is a very good product, it is not, in my humble opinion, the best or most comfortable trackball out there. That, and the Mac non compatibility issue are the only reasons I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5. While some may argue that the price difference makes the Logitech a better "value" I disagree. These are items that I use 10 to 15 hours six days a week and having a comfortable solution that will prevent stress and/or carpal tunnel...well, an extra $15 or $20 for that is prevention I'm HAPPY to pay.

Buy this product for your Windows PC with confidence. If you buy the Logitech, for additional comfort, also buy the "Fellowes Gel Flex Transparent Mini Wrist Rest (Blue Crystal)" for $12.99 at Amazon.

Or, if you don't need a wireless solution buy the Kensington, which has a very comfortable padded wrist rest included.

Happy Computing!

"trackman is and always has been superb"
The trackman has been my favorite of all mice since I started using it. The only drawback-that can't be avoided-is that the trackball sensors get dirty after while and you need to disassemble it to clean the sensors. But then it's as good as new. It's the only mouse I'll ever use. Since your keeping your wrist in one position, it's great for reducing carpel tunel syndrome.

"Fine Product is it right for you?"
Great product no brainer to install. The only downside is that it has a sizable receiver and is not a fob type commony used with lap tops. So for a desk top this is perfect. If you plan on using a mouse from a distance it may also come in handy.

I find it excellent for surfing the net but can be a challange for percise use like graphics such as photoshop etc.

What our customer's say!

"The best for me - not for everyone though", I have used this mouse (model) for about 4 or 5 years. Absolutely love it always dependable. When on Ubuntu, the task bar even shows the amount of battery power left in the one double-a. Whether wired or wireless (I have had both), this is so comfortable. You only move your thumb to use it. For me, trackball is the way to go - you can just sit it on the arm of your couch or on your stomach when using a laptop.

However, it takes a little patience to get used to this type of mouse. I recommended it to someone at work and he didn't like it. So he gave the mouse to me (bonus - extra one for me!)

"Great product, great customer service.", Product was everything I expected it to be. I had always used the trackman wheel with the cord, and they would always short out eventually. Usually around a years time, this was likely due to how much I move the trackball, but with the wireless, I don't have to worry about that.

Customer service was excellent, got to me quick and in brand new condition.

"Just like the regular Trackman", I have used the Trackman Wheel mouse for years because I like being able to hold the mouse in my lap and work in order to avoid carpal tunnel. I have gone through probably 3 of these over the years. This is my first cordless and it fits my hands just like the regular TrackMan, but is even easier to use due to being cordless. I have the base unit sitting several feet away due to space constrictions on my desk and I have never lost my signal. I love it.

"Nice product.", This is a nice reliable mouse. Takes a little time to get used to it, but after a couple of days it is easy. Great product for my small, cluttered desk.

"Great If You Prefer Using Your Thumb On The Trackball", At my house I have two wireless trackballs, both Logitech. I personally find the Kennsington trackballs to be very difficult to use by comparison (though I frequently have to do so at other studios).

This is my second Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel as the last one had the USB receiver break after several years of use (though the trackball side of it still works when hooked up to the new receiver). The receivers generally work quite well but if you find the cursor isn't tracking smoothly, try experimenting with receiver placement.

So I guess the question is: why did I get a second one? Simple: the ergonomics are great and unlike my other Logitech trackball, the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman, this one lets me move the trackball with my thumb while I use my other fingers to push buttons. I try to alternate between the two trackballs periodically to decrease long-term RSI risk, but that may be overkill for a lot of people.

This trackball works as advertised, is easy to use (even if you don't install the included software) and works great whether used with USB or the included PS2 adapter. The battery lasts a long time, whether you use a standard alkaline AA or a rechargeable one. The first trackball I'd recommend for wireless users. When my old one broke, I waited for a new one to arrive online rather than get the Kennsington models they had at my local Best Buy: that's how much easier it is for me to use.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Just Ordered My Third One", I just ordered what will be my third cordless trackman in the past 5 or 6 years. I also have a corded trackman that I use exclusively with my laptop. I'm a trackball kind of guy, never could stand using a mouse, and of all the ones I've tried, the cordless trackman is my favorite. It has three buttons and a scroll wheel (the wheel is also the third button), all of which you can program to do as you wish, and at any sensitivity, in the control panel. I am also a Mac man, and have never had a single problem with drivers, programming, or anything else software related.

The only reason I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 is because they aren't perfect. Close, but not quite. Mine seem to last about 2.5 years before one or more of the button switches actually breaks, at which time I just replace it. I admit, however, that I am probably somewhat rough on mine, so yours will probably last longer. My cordless models go through a single AA battery every 8 to 10 weeks, or so, maybe longer.

The other problem I have discovered with these is that the ball itself is not exactly the same in every one I've bought. They are probably supposed to be, but the one that came with my corded trackman is just slightly smaller than the others. It was enough of a difference to make it difficult to control the pointer with any great precision. Swapping in the ball from one of my retired trackmans solved that issue.

The only maintenance mine have ever required, other than a new battery every couple of months, is to clean the three rolling points that the ball rests on inside it's little cove. All you have to do is pop the ball out, and wipe each of the points with a Q-tip. It literally takes no more than 10 seconds, start to finish, and should be done once a month, depending on use. I read a review where someone was having an issue where the ball seemed to slightly stick sometimes. That is an issue that will almost certainly be corrected by cleaning those rolling points with a Q-tip like I just described.

One last point I feel I should make involves the battery. I highly recommend using only high quality alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't last long at all, and become a nuisance when you have to replace it every other week. Low quality batteries tend to leak acid, and once that starts, your trackman will be ruined. Spend the extra quarter and use Duracell, or something comparable.

Hope this helped someone. :)

"Better than traditional mouse", I have my computer desk cluttered with papers, coffee cups, pens, etc and have limited space. This stationery mouse eliminates the constant aggravation of moving the traditional mouse on its "pad" and banging it on the desk everytime the cursor finds its way off the screen and I can only reclaim it with a quick bang making it reappear on the screen. I quickly got use to the thumb "ball" although it sticks at times (it freely floats, but if I'm doing very detailed work and want to highlight perhaps just one letter in a sentence the ball tends to slightly "stick" and after gently applying the needed pressure to move it, it jumps too far and has to be done over again). My main reason for getting this wireless mouse was the limited space on my desk and not wanting to continually be moving the mouse in a cramped area. For this reason I'm glad I purchased it.

"Small hands", My thumb has to stretch a little too much when using this unit and so it's not comfortable for extended periods of time. I guess it's b/c I have a smaller-than-average sized hand (ring size 5). I'll have to find better mouse alternative than this one.

"Makes the "mouse" obsolete", Back in the early 90s Logitech came out with their first trackball, and things have never stopped selling and for good reason. To be helpful, I'll go with a strengths vs. Weaknesses approach.

Mouse Strength Trackball Strength
--------------- ---------------------
Industry Standard-used by No Cords to impede movement
used by almost every company
No flat service needed
Compatible with just about
everything No mouse pad needed

I will admit from the first day I ever used a mouse, I hated. I've always has problems with precision, despite years of use before the trackball came out. I always was frustrated I would lose a level because the mouse cord got caught on something, or the mouse ran out of room to keep moving in one direction. The mouse and I hated each other from first sight. The very first day I saw a Logitech Trackman for sale, I was joining the Army in 1990 and had to have one. In about 30 minutes I loved it. Since then they've even corrected all the problems, including sending me new trackballs, when the older ones malfunctioned, no questions asked. I introduced my 72 year old mother (who hates anything "new" to the trackball, and now she refuses to use a mouse after having used one for 16 years beforehand). It should be noted this trackball comes with or without cord. I buy the cordless version so again, I' not inundated with wires. If you haven't every tried one of these, do yourself a favor and borrow someones and give yourself a day, especially if you're a player. It'll seem weird at first, but once you get used to it, you'll never want to use a mouse again.
