"Build Like Tank"
I have been using this Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP for at least 2 years. It has been plugged to my computer since day one. Playing the same old F1 2002 game for hours everyday for the pass 2 years. No problem no nothing. This product simply works and it works great. I will be getting FIA GTA soon. If this wheel ever die, I will surely buy another one without a doubt.

"Great Wheel/Pedal Set (3 Star since G25 purchase)"
This is the only set I have ever purchased and I bought another one 3 years after the first set. The first one was great and had zero problems. When I found the SportsCarGT game was included, I played it for 2 years before buying NFSPU which is even better realism and way more fun. Now I have my kids race each other through multiplayer on the home network and they love it almost as much as I do.

I highly recommend this Logitech product through amazon. The 2nd set I ordered had faulty shift paddle contacts and amazon was quick to replace without extra charges or too long a wait even though it was out of stock 2nd time around. Yeah its a bummer when you cant play with a new toy, but this is the world we live in. Now I'm going to buy another one so three can play at once.

The new one works great and does exactly what it claims. Although the new one didn't come with the game anymore and the cord design is still the same mess as mentioned by other reviewers. The axis choices and calibration controls are excellent for both sportscargt and NFSPU as well as the older NFS games I picked up on ebay for real cheap. The reviewer who had problems with pedal controls either didn't calibrate the set or didn't calibrate the game to work with the set or both. The settings are specific to the game and some setup is required in the game as well. Even if only to select the wingman as the device default. Some times the settings get messed up for one reason or another and need to be re-calibrated in the game itself. A pain yes, but not that big a deal to fix.
As far as the realism critics, the rumble and the plastic may not be like a real car, but being a porsche owner, I can tell you from real world driving experience in both snow and rain that these cars respond just like the real ones. This set lets you practice techniques without damage to your own car. Also a Great way to see how different porsche models handle if your thinking about getting an older porsche, especially with older even more rear heavy 911's. You may decide that you don't like steering with your gas pedal.
The performance for the price from Amazon is a no-brainer. Buy it and have fun. For the most realistic driving experience, move up to GTR2!

"good value"
Just purchased my second Formula Force wheel because I accidently ripped a cable out. Had the first wheel for over 5 years. For the money, I think it is the best wheel on the market. Good force feedback, pedals have good response. Best game match I've found is the old Sports Car GT. I can make the cars do exactly what I want to.

"Great wheel"
This wheel is worth every penny and even more; $50 is a great price. I've had mine for 2 weeks now, and played it a ton. It is very well-built, and no parts are getting loose or anything. It is very easy to install; you can get it out of the box and working perfectly in about 10 minutes. Anyone who says the wheel is too sensitive/jerky must not be very good at racing; the sensitivity is perfect. The force feedback is great. I play Nascar Racing 4 with it, and when you go on the apron or hit the wall the wheel jerks around very realistically. It also doesn't take very long to get good at using it, but that doesn't mean that you'll win every race either. There's not really anything bad to say at this wheel. This one's a winner.

"Get it!"
I ordered the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP w/ foot pedals on a late Sunday afternoon, using the super saver free shipping. I believe Amazon reports that the free shipping takes 7 - 9 days to be delivered? Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, almost exactly 48 hours later, the wheel was at my house! It arrived in a brand new, excellent, unscathed condition.

I took the wheel out and mounted it to the lip of my computer desk using the two screw down plastic clamps provided underneath the wheel. I thought the clamps looked flimsy, and would probably break easily! However, I have been playing for days now and the wheel is completely stable and does not move nor suffer from "plastic flex"! Just make sure you do _not_ overtighten them when you screw them down! Just get them secure, they WILL hold if you do it properly. I find the wheel to be the perfect size for my desk, I can keep it attached and use my keyboard and mouse without any problems at all.

Next, I positioned the foot pedals on the floor. My desk has a bottom board, and I put the foot pedals up against it so they won't slide. They have a jack similar to a telephone, and it plugs directly into the righthand side of the wheel. The A/C adapter plugs in next to the phone-jack type port for the pedals, and is very lightweight!

Then, I started up my computer and installed the software. You put the disk in, and it comes up with a menu that lets you install it. If you already have another Logitech device, such as a Wingman joystick, then you don't need to install the software! It uses the same stuff! Once the software is installed, you simply plug the USB connector into your computer, and POOF! The system will immediately make any changes it has to, and you can start using your wheel! I would strongly suggest a calibration before use.

The wheel and pedals are very durable, and work flawlessly. The paddle shifters are easy to reach and use! I find the best game to use this wheel with is Need for Speed: Underground. They make a great combo.

It takes a slight breaking in period to get used to using a wheel. While it makes the game very realistic, remember that it is still up to the game programmers to provide good game physics for using it! I've also played with a Microsoft Force Feedback wheel at a friend's house, and I like this Logitech a lot better!

What our customer's say!

"Precise Force Feedback Wheel", This is a very precise steering wheel and works very well with Force Feedback games. If your games do not support force feedback you will have trouble because the wheels return to center feature relies on force feedback.

"Good enough to behard?", The device works perfectly, but the games becomes 10x harder, but the device is awesome!

"bad game controller", I sell this today because is better my thrustmaster wheel (nascar racing but the old without forcefeedback ) I can hit the stop with a low amount of acceeleration, for me the bad wheel I have in my computer.

"ok, out dated", Logitech Is a company that seems to have killed off most if not all of its competitors in terms of wheels, since Microsoft decided to stop production of its sidewinder steering wheel line. But the fact is, this wheel, while very good is not their best. The main reason for this is its age. The Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP Wheel, try say that fast 5 times, Is ,in computer years, about as up to date as your gand fathers old 1975 AMC Pacer. So why is this such a big deal? Well, there were a few problems, in terms of quality and functionality, that would need to be corrected. These corrections do not appear on this wheel.

To start with, the wheel it self feels light and plastic. It is easy to grip and feels comfortable, but it also feels like it could break if moved to suddenly. The wheel does give good feed back and seems to react to every little effect right down to hitting little rocks in the rode.

The pedals are plastic and seem a little to easy to break! Jamming on the gas too hard a the wrong moment will cause it to crack. Holding it down with force can also cause this to happen. Another major issue that affects these pedals is the phone line jack type connector that connects and locks the wire in to the wheel it self. It is easy to break and does its job of holding the wire in place to well. I had the misfortune of having this wire fall on the gas pedal just before I slammed down the gas, this, needles to say, ripped wire out of the phone line jack connector rendering the pedals useless. And dont think you can just run down to your local electronic store and replace it, the connector is smaller then a standard phone connecter and dose not seem to be available anyware. I have had to replace several of these wheels because of the pedals failing in one way or another.

This wheel also lack something that was very highly noted in its early days, A shifter. The only way to shift gears is to use the small paddles on the backs of the left and right spokes. The paddles really dont give that good a sense of feed back.

For the price you pay, you get an ok wheel, but why would one by this wheel when the much improved MOMO wheel also from Logitech, which dose have a shifter, can be found for not much more.

"Adequate (barely) and dramatically inferior to its predecessor", I used a Wingman Formula Force for about 4 years, and it was a superb wheel that excelled in every game I used it with. These included the Need for Speed series (particularly Porsche Unleahsed) and the Colin McRae Rally series. When the potentiometers in the pedals began to behave erratically causing sudden and unpredictable changes in the amount of throttle pedal that the wheel would indicate, I attempted to replace it.

Unfortunately, the Formula Force is no longer available, being replaced instead by the Formula Force GP. The Formula Force GP (which was shipped to me by mistake by a vendor claiming to sell the original Formula Force) is a much cheaper wheel, and it shows in every aspect of its performance.

For one, the wheel uses a gear driven system instead of a cable driven system, and this limits the responsiveness of the wheel when continuously varying biasing force is needed, for instance, when the force on the wheel is intended to communicate the slip angle of the front wheels.

In addition, the gear-driven system produces a lot of inertia in the wheel and that inertia interferes with the feedback coming through the wheel. It also causes the wheel to have a perceived resisting feedback, even when the wheel should not be resisting your motion.

The pedals are adequate and have a good, progressive response, but they lack any grip surface on the bottom, or sufficient space on the side to use your left foot to brace the base of the pedals in position (both features on the original Formula Force). If you are using them on a surface other than carpet, they will tend to slip away from you.

The wheel provides two "paddles" and four buttons, the same as the previous model Formula Force, but the "paddles" are actually small buttons on the back of the wheel that are much harder to reach when quick reflexes are desired, or if you are attempting to operate the paddles while the wheel is turned significantly. Also, two of the four buttons are positioned at an angle that is awkward for your thumbs to reach.

In short, this is a passable wheel and pedal set, and for the money, may not be a bad choice. However, compared to the original Formula Force wheel from Logitech which it replaces, this wheel is a serious disappointment. If you can find an original Formula Force, or a Formula Force Momo from Logitech, they are better constructed and better performing products.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Microsoft Wheel is better", This wheel is perfectly centered, until you plug in the usb. Then it goes off center by almost 45 degrees. It has a grinding feel like it needs to be oiled. It also sqeaks when turning. Driving with the wheel off center makes it harder to reach the buutons. Go Microsoft.

"Little too jerky", Overall a good buy for the money. Wheel is very jerky and too sensitive in Nascar racing and Indy Car racing. Turning on Steering assist in Nascar racing smooths things out but some online leagues don't allow this. Pedals are OK. Spaced very well. Brake pedal feels very sensitive.

"Clearly the worst wheel I've ever bought.", There are many bad things about this wheel. For 1, whenever you turn it, it turns way to far to the side, and the car you are driving goes off the track. Another thing is, the pedals don't work very well. When you push even a millimeter dow on the gas pedal, the car speeds way up. Also, the brake/reverse pedal doesn't work at all. You have to reset the car if you want to reverse. On some games, the gas apedal and thebrake/reverse pedal don't work at all. When this happens, the car just speeds ahead, and there is no way to slow it down. Never the less, the wheel doesn't break easily, and it has rumbel built in. If you want a good wheel, then I advise you to by one without pedals.

"Good Starter Wheel", I've been using this wheel for a little over a year now, and it provides excellent connectivity and responsiveness. The forcefeedback, while not as strong or convincing as the newer MOMO wheel, offers good "feel for the dollar" value. In games such as Colin McRae 2.0, Rallisport Challenge, and F1, the feel of the wheel is quite good, and having been on the market for at least a couple years now, all the bugs are worked out of the drivers and support from Logitech. It won't increase your upper body strength like the MOMO, but still an excellent wheel for racing.

"Pedals Break", Although this steering wheel is a good wheel to race with it does have a major drawback. The pedals are cheap plastic and usually break within 2 months. When this happened on my first one, about 2 years ago, Logitech replced it twice (it comes with a year warranty). When the brake pedal broke this time I replaced it with the same wheel because Logitech stood behind its product and it still came with a year warranty. Unfortunately the gas pedal broke within 2 months and Logitech no longer honors the year warranty for breaking pedals. I will not buy another of this brand.
