Others say..."My six-year old loves it but can't understand it"Cheap and richly adorned, this game takes some skill to play. My young daughter finds it fascinating; she likes it mostly because she unknowingly gets creamed by the computer-managed opponent. That is, she thinks the computer is managing her team; a 21-0 loss is a 21-0 win for her. I am only a slightly better player and much better at realizing just how poorly I am doing. The options are plentiful, from choices among exotic and attractive ball fields (boy, I should have been so lucky as a kid), line ups (as a kid, fielding a full team in the backyard would constitute a once-in-kid's lifetime dream), to pitch selection (for me as a kid it was simply throw hard, harder or harder still). Not for the impatient or the slow-witted. But this is baseball.
"Field of Dreams Comes to the Screen" Play baseball in the comfort of your own home. There's no shortage of baseball games for the PC especially with Humongous Entertainment's addition to the Backyard Sports series. Continuing the same tradition found in its other Backyard Sports games, you are the coach and you have the choice of choosing your own players including pros like Ivan Rodriguez, former Ranger Juan Gonzalez, and unbeatable Randy Johnson to name a few. Only in this game, they're kids! Backyard Baseball provides a wealth of options that are adaptable to your skill level and preferences. I brought in a pricey, 6-year old consultant to test the product. It took a little time to get set up and going, but once we had everything figured out we knew our way around the field of dreams, a basic neighborhood field or you can move up to bigger and fancier fields. The game was set on the easy level that allowed her to hit every pitch at which she swung. After she finished her game (her team, the Rangers, lost and it was no surprise), I changed the level to medium and it was very tough to hit the ball. Time passed and the adults got the hang of it. Later, the dad got hooked on the game -- so it's great for adults, too. Not only do you get pro ballers, you get regular kids with personality including a clumsy girl and a rock n' rollin' boy who do their shtick while at bat or on the field. This makes the game more entertaining and a bonus is that you can play other players and get software bug fixes while connected to the Internet. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to create team names from scratch instead of limiting the coach to stock names. Other than that, the game is batting 1.000.
"O.K." This game is great at first but gets really boring. I hated the fact of fatigue because Pete Weeler is the fastest person and becomes the slowest. If you only have the shadow to tell you where the ball is then it's the best.If it shows you where the actual ball is then it's almost an automatic homerun even for the average player.
"Backyard Baseball is Outstanding" This 2001 version of Humongous Entertainment's popular game is better than the first. This is game design at its best. You can choose players with varying skills, try different strategies, set players at different defensive positions, adjust the lineup before each game, and track one game or a whole season (complete with playoffs). There are a lot of options that change the difficulty level, which makes it fun for a wide age range. A huge advantage over the original backyard baseball is the choice of over 30 "professionals as kids." Read Amazon reviews of the new 2003 edition to see if you prefer its pro players; I think they're an important buying consideration. Other than the pro players, I recommend drafting Keisha Phillips and Pedro Sanchez for power, Kenny Kawaguchi for pitching, Achmed Khan for overall offense and defense, Stephanie Morgan for infield, and Pete Wheeler for speed--he makes a great lead-off hitter! It's great, great fun, and I recommend it highly.
"The great backyard baseball game" The backyard baseball computer game by Humongous Entertainment is a great game that enables children(and parents!)to play along with baseball. You can choose from any major leage baseball team. You can pick baseball players...as kids! You can also decide to choose a few made up kids from the bench or use both! next,on comes the game. There are two anouncers that tell you if there is a ball, strike, foul, steal, run, or homerun. You can also decide your roster.Play ball! You can play safely on the internet against friends ,play a single game, or create a coach and play a whole season. Have fun!!!!

What our customer's say!"AWESOME", this game is pure awesome!! i love the gameplay and how you can play against other kids around the world who have the game in the online version. i luv luv luv it~ "Baseball Players", I love Backyard Baseball, I can pick all the pros I like featuring, "Derek Jeter", "Kenny Lofton", "Ken Griffey Jr.", "Nomar Garciaparra", and so much more. When I create a kid, my kid's name is Dizzy Lamb, who I like to add to my baseball team. His nickname is "Dizzy" and his birthdate is 5/28/1991. His batting average is 9, his running average is 10, his pitching average is 2, and his fielding average is 4. His face is light, and his hair is black. That's the story of Dizzy Lamb. I also like some of the backyard kids which features, "Pablo Sanchez", "Achmed Khan", "Vicki Kawaguchi", and so much more. In all, my favorite team in the game is Oakland A's. I like every level exept for Sandy Flats, and Dirt Fields which those are two hard fields to play. This game is great!! "Great game... for the younger kids", this is a very fun game. Great graphics, smooth gameplay, and, as i said, lots of fun! you can choose from a bunch of pros, such as arod, nomar, bonds, giambi, beltran, and sosa. and the backyard kids, like pablo sanchez, dante robinson, jocinda smith, etc. but, as my title says, it's made for the younger kind. The game gets really easy really fast, and on the hard mode with errors off, i beat the other team 44-1. I would borrow it from a friend, see how you like it, and go from there, but don't buy it right away.
""You'rrrrre Out!"", This game consists of picking players for your team by learning a bit about each player, what they are good at or not good at in baseball. Then you can choose your team's name, colors, and whether to play one game or a season. You tell your pitcher what pitch to throw & where to throw it - or, if you are up to bat, you tell your player when to swing. It is a fun game, however I strongly recommend it for ages 7 and up. There is some reading necessary - and you must be able to comprehend what defines a "good" baseball player. For the older child - it can be hours of entertainment - and satisfying when you pick a winning team!
1smileycat :-)
"i like it", it is easy to play, and you can beat the computer. Even a one year old can play the game and win because it is that easy I know why i love this game, it is because it provides me hours of fun and excitement. you are your own coach and you have to make wise decisions or your team won't win the championship.

"Excellent", Great product. My 10 year old loves it, as do all his friends. He plays it for hours.
"Baseball CD", Ever since my 5 year old son got this for Christmas, he has probably played with this CD everyday. He always liked baseball, but he is even more into it now. He's learned all the teams and players names and it has even helped him learn the strategies in baseball. He absolutely loves it.
"I love this game!", This game is the coolest. I love making my own players. I would reccamend this to anyone who like baseball or other sports. I love this game!
"Backyard Baseball 2001", This game is excellent. With all the players you can choose from you can build your dream team. The only bad part is that the power ups are very unrealistic (You can turn them off).
"backyard baseball 2001 - a great hit", My kids love this game. They can't wait for the 2002 version! For the new lovers of baseball, this game gets them acquainted with a lot of the superstars and teams of baseball.
