Others say..."great player for the price"WOW! i got this yesterday.. and for the [final] price, i would say this is the best out there. the memory disks are incredibly small, and the only drawback is that they only hold about 5 songs each. the connector was extremely easy to install. you can record songs on to the disks just as you use a floppy. the player itself is small too, with great sound and decent earbuds. instead of getting other more expensive models i would buy four of these. the player is the smallest i've seen, like 1.5 inches * 4 inches. BUY IT IF YOU CAN! "get higher end mp3 player"I got this mp3 player as a gift. You can only hold 4 songs per memory card--this really sucks. Who's going to want to just listen to 4 songs, and then have to switch memory cards? After using it just once, I gave it to my little sister. Also transferring files is somewhat inconvenient. For some reason, they decided to use the parallel port--have they ever heard of something called USB??? "almost the worst mp3 player!"UPSIDES. Low price, small design. DOWNSIDES. Very bad display. it only tells you the time elapsed and the track number. also, although it says it comes with 32 MB of memory, it actually comes with 2 16MB discs, which means that you always have to carry the extra cartridge with you, and only 6 songs at a time! also, this player drains batteries very quickly. i replaced this I-Jam with the rio.. dont waste money on this thing that you will end up replacing anyway. "spend a little more money and get a better quality one"This mp3 player is worth $30 dollars, but it would be wise to put in more money and buy a better one. The good points about this player is it's compact size and that it includes a free carrying case and headphones, but the cards which say 16mb only actually hold 15.2mb, the FM radio only works in places with good reception and my computer sometimes jams and I have to reboot when i try to download some music into the discs. "Great entry level player with pros and cons......."I was really skeptical when I ordered this player. Here's how I felt when I got it: This has to be the smallest player I've seen. You can easily fit it in your shirt pocket and it'll never get in your way. As for the memory: You get 2 16MB cards, which will hold about 4 songs each. It only takes one card at a time, so don't get upset when you can only have 4 songs in the unit at once. As for the songs, you can't play anything with a bit rate over 128 )it'll sound real bad), so keep that in mind. You may have some good music that won't play on this unit. But, I've found I can get any song I want at that rate. This has a real nice case with a big drawback: The cards fit in the bottom of the unit, and the case doesn't have a hole in it. You have to take it all the way out of the case to change the card. The headphones are okay, but I'd pick up some others if I were you for better sound. The FM tuner would be great if you could pick up stations. The sound is good, but stations are hard to get on this little unit unless you are reasonably close to the radio tower. The sound quality is great, and it goes loud too. The bass and treble controls are also great features, especially if you hook this player up to a car cassette adapter. They allow you to fine tune the sound for the best experience. The 2 AAA batteries seem to last good. I'm using the Energizer Rechargable NiMH system they sell here at amazon. Now, the display on the i-jam is less than perfect. It doesnt display the song you are listening to, its hard to read, and the backlight floods out the digits when its dark. You'll keep your sanity with it, though. You can't skip thru songs (fast forward), you can just play them in whole, or go to the next one. All in all, I'm very happy with this player. It was well worth the money I paid. I hope in the future they will have larger cards (64 or 128 MB) that we can afford to buy. If you want a good, rugged, entry level player with some great features, go for it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Ryan

What our customer's say!"Needs firmware update", Does anyone have an archive of the firmware updater for this product? "IJ-100 Parrallel", I loved the unit! The small DUAL functioning buttons make it a little difficult to work at times but that's a price I'm willing to pay a unit so small. I throw it in my gym bag and don't have to worry about bringing an extra set of batteries since it only uses 2 AAAs. Even hooking it up in the car with a cassette adaptor was a wonderful experience and its easy to lock in the glove box. I give the unit only 2 stars because I had to purchase a separate MMC device since I-Jam never responded to my calls or e-mails. I had problems with the system recognizing the MMC device in my parallel port. The device was recognized only once before crashing my system. I then tried to uninstall the software and had only error messages returned. After dealing with Microsoft and running diagnostic programs, I learned that the problem was with the MMC device itself. If you don't mind small buttons, then this unit is for you. I love mine and think it is a great little unit. If you have any problems though, just return it where you purchased because my experience has taught me that I-Jam will not be of any help. "don't get involved with this company", I bought an I-Jam in October 2000. At the time, they were offering a $50 rebate which I sent in promptly. In spite of repeated promises made by the company about a 6-8 week waiting time, etc. I *still* have not received the rebate after 6 months! *extremely* bad way to do business. I have a feeling that it was all planned on their part. BTW - The player also is not that great. The hardware to actually load the songs in unweildy. And the tiny display is less then informative and difficult to read.
"LOVE this thing.. so tiny.. but FM radio sux", I can't put this teeny tiny thing down, it's just the cutest. A great value with so many fuctionalities. A strange thing is 50% of the stuff I d/l from napster sounds crappy. Not sure if it's the files or it's the player? The FM radio reception is not very good.. can only pick up stations with VERY strong signals.
"Has anyone gotten there reBATE check ??????", Has anyone gotten there reBATE check ??????
Read this reviews before You buy..."Great MP3 player but lousy tuner...", As an MP3 player, this product is a great deal. 32MB plus bass and treble make for a terrific MP3 listening experience. However, the FM tuner is pitiful. Both the sensitivity and selectivity are horrible, so only the strongest stations come in then only within a certain distance where other stations aren't interfering. It's totally useless for weaker stations. My old Sony FM Walkman is much, much better. "Its ok, not the best, I suggest the Sensory Science Mp2300", There are many good Mp3 players out there. This one is so-so, it has great sound but those little card thingies are expensive. your going to end up paying more for memory than th player itself. There is also the Alternative of Mini Disc, like many people have said, the problem is MD RECORDS music. you have to take actual time to record it A three minute song take three minutes to record. While MP3 players usually have click, and drag capabilities. If you would like an Mp3 player with really great sound and cheaper memory, I suggest you wait for the new Sensory Science Mp2300, to go down in price. It uses forty MB discs, that cost about 625% less than the 64 megabyte flash cards. One 64b Mb flashcard costs about $99.99, when you can buy ten of the Forty MB discs for the same price. Which is a really good value. Right now the Sensory Science Mp2300 is about $300, but it will eventually lower in price or go on sale, so if you find it for less, I suggest you just scoop it up :) Happy Listening! "Not bad, but ...", I've been using the I-Jam for a week now. Here are mythoughts. Overall this is an excellent product. I bought theplayer mainly for use while running because of the fact that it has no moving parts and so can be shaken without interrupting the music. On this score - 10 / 10. It performs beautifully. It is a perfect size and the FM radio gives you something to listen to when you are bored of the MP3 tracks that you have downloaded. Just a few minus points. 1. It eats batteries - I think this has something to do with the fact that if you "pause" the player rather than "power off" - it doesn't "auto-off" after a while. 2. I bought the Parallel version and haven't been able to get Win2000 drivers for it.I wrote to the Tech Support group a week ago about this - no reply. END
"Know what you're looking for!", I have read a lot of reviews that say this item is too expensive, not enough memory... and so on. My advice is, know what your needs are before you make a purchase. Yes, the item is fairly pricey. But the cost of owning the latest technology always is. I've encoding songs using the higher, and lower compression rates, and it's difficult to tell the difference. So,............use the lower rate, thus creating a smaller file, and get more songs on your data card. I typically get about 10 songs per data card. Ok, the cards themselves are not cheap, but they're so tiny they're cool. And after all isn't that the point? I use my I-Jam when I cycle, with some street style headphones, and I don't want to carry around a MD player. I want the smallest, lightest, (yet decent sounding) player I can get. I find that this fulfills my needs, and for me is a good value for what I want. Do not be influenced by the negative reviews, this is a good product!
"Dont buy an mp3 player!", If you are rich as hell, go ahead and buy it. But for the price your paying for this, you could get a great Mini Disk player, and even plenty of discs for over 2,000 minutes of recording time. Dont believe me? Goto the Mini Disc section and do the math! Even better, you can record mp3's onto the MiniDisk players, you can also record your voice, your playstation/N64/Dreamcast, VCR, TV, Radio, Tape, everything! I almost bought an mp3 player, and im glad i didn't. MP3's are too expensive compared to Mini-Disks, and if you look at the Mini Disk trend right now, its exactly like the CD trend 10 years ago. They are already making Mini Disk drives fro computers to store info. Just check out the Mini Disks before you buy this, trust me, you'll thank me. If you have any questions, email me, Ill answer them asap!
