Others say..."I didn't know what music was..."...until I discovered these babies. One day I was in town listening to my old but great Sony radio and the pair of cans that came with it just went out. Man, I thought. I didn't even get to hear the end of "Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got Back." Well, after I recovered from that humongous shock, I noticed that I was beside a Radio Shack - the coolest place in the whole entire world. After telling 3 workers that I was just looking and didn't need help, I found these headphones. They were up on the front counter with a little tag that said they were half price. Well, that was just super-dee-duper, and I went ahead and bought them. Now, I was hoping that these would be pretty good since they had "Titanium" written on the side, and anything that has a big word on the side has to be good, right? Well, I was right. I had been used to listening to music with the supplied headphones of the player that I bought. I never imagined that it could sound as good as this. I didn't want to say it because you all might not take me very seriously, but, who cares - ... I had never actually bought a good pair of headphones. Even if there are better headphones out there, my friend from school who bought a pair of fifty dollar headphones for his computer said these are better. After listening to his pair, I had to agree.
I have only had a couple of bad experiences with these. They broke after a week or two of use. Now don't go and start looking for a different pair thinking that these are flimsy, because I went right back to radio Shack and got a new pair. I have had this new pair for way over 2 years, and they are still going strong. I suppose that pair was just a bad apple or something. It's not that I couldn't afford to buy a new pair for 2 years - it's that I didn't need to. That is how good these are. The second problem is that they kinda hurt if I wore them for a while. I have glasses, so maybe that was the problem, but after a while, I could wear them without even noticing them. And the final problem is with the volume control. After a while of use, it can start kind of messing with the balance, ie. fading from one ear to the other. This has happened from ever pair of cans I've ever used with a volume control, so it was no biggie. If you leave it on the Max volume, it probably won't mess up. Keep in mind, this fading only happens when you are moving the control, not when it is stationary.
Aside from these very minor gripes, this is the best pair of headphones I have ever used. And I will keep on using them, just not as frequently, because I'm investing a large sum of money on the Sony MDR-EX70LP earbuds. I have gotten to like the convenience of having a pair of headphones in my pocket at school, and being able to unwind them and listen to them whenever. Please, consider these, because I assure you that they will provide you with probably 2 years or more of listening joy. ...
"Fits my fat head..." I stretched them till they fit comfortably on my wide head. They sound great to my ear and I use them alot!
"Great sound, price" Great full range sound, comfortable headband, good design, low distortion, high efficiency. What more do you want? A volume control? You got it.
"Disappointed and Feeling Ripped Off" I bought these headphones based on the first couple of reviews I read here. I should have read further, because about two weeks after I purchased the earphones, the left side went out completely. There was nothing obvious on the outside of the unit and I didn't hear any "rattling" as described by other users. The darn things just quit! I must say, however, that the sound quality for those first two weeks was excellent, but all in all, not worth the money and frustration.
"The Headphone to compare all others to." I have searched and searched and searched for a pair of portable headphones that sound as good as these with lots of failure. IMO, you cannot beat the sound of a set of "over-the-head" headphones. I have tried all styles: earbuds, behind the neck, clips, even the ear plugs. Nothing gives the sound and comfort of the KTX Pros (granted, I have never tried the sportapros or portapros, but from what I have read, they are the same headphone. Except they are UGLY!). The KTX Pros have both great lows and great highs. Plus, you can't beat that price.

What our customer's say!"Great sound, lousy durability", I have had my set for five months. The sound is excellent. Unfortunately, the wire needs a strain relief where it enters and exits the volume control. I suggest finding a spring about twice the size of a ball point pen refill spring and twist it over the wire and onto the rubber grommets that extend from the volume control. Maybe then the wire will last longer. The KOSS people will replace a broken set but you have to mail it in with a check for $6.00 for return postage. That is what they call a lifetime warranty. For those who want occasional ear cover style, I pop the ear pieces out of the headband and put them inside a cheap set of noise blocking ear muffs like they sell for a couple bucks at the tool store. "Excellent sound quality!", I'm not an audiophile, but this pair of headphones deliver clear, crisp trebles and mids and strong, well-defined bass. The volume control is very convenient, especially when I do not have convenient access to the volume control say in the school computer labs. The head band is a tad too tight though (though it grips nicely), and after one year of use, the plastic around the band broke. Nevertheless I will still buy another from Koss again. They make great sound! "The best of their class, by far.", The Koss KTX-Pro, which is the same exact pair of headphones which goes under the name Pro-35 at RadioShack, are better than anything else on the market in their price range, in terms of sound quality. The only thing I've ever griped about, was that after extended use at high volume levels, my ears DID start to hurt just a little, and required a break. I think it somehow had to do with the shape and density of the metal adjustable outer band. Perhaps it was just a bit gripping, but still worth enduring, none the less. But that problem has now been solved. I simply bended them into shape, until they started to fit more comfortably. It's kind of like a new deck of playing cards - at first, they're a little TOO crisp and new, until after you've spent enough time "breaking them in," so they'll feel smoother when you shuffle. Or, if you know anything about string instruments, such as the guitar or violin, then you know the same thing also applies to every fresh new pair of strings. And with the warranty I purchased with these headphones, I can break them and go right down the street to RadioShack, and replace them with a fresh new pair, as often as I want for free, until nearly 2006! And I love the fact that while my portable MD is snuggly in my inside coat pocket, with my coat zipped up, I can still run the cord down the front outside of the coat, then up into my pocket (thanks to the cord being long enough for this procedure), thus giving me easy access to the in-line volume slider. Even the volume slider itself is noteworthy, in the way the max volume level is at the bottom, while volume-down is at the top position of the slider. At first, one might think this is upside-down, but somehow it just feels convenient and natural after a while.
"WOW!!", The title of this review says it all. I still can't believe the massively great sound that this little baby puts out. I was originally looking for a nice set of headphones for my MP3 player, but now, they've become my standard set for my home theatre. My friend had recommended these to me about a week before I bought them, and man was he right about one thing; GREAT BASS! These phones really show me how far technology has come these days. It really DOES sound like 2 little 1" subs next to your ears. Not only is the bass amazing, but every little treb and mid is easily recognizable with amazing clarity. I plan to use these as long they'll still function, and then I'll just buy another pair. Great job Koss!
"Amazing bass and quality for the price", I already had 4 pairs of these... this headphone is the cheapest of PortaPro family, and the sound is excellent, clean, deep bass; high sensitivity, even I can get satisfactory sound level from single-battery walkman the reason why I give 4 stars is, the cable is easily broken, and the length is 1.5m, sometimes the cable tangle my feet when I am down on knee, and when I stand up when I don't undo the cable, the cable breaks, and I have repair myself, after that, I lost volume control and the length is reduced to 1m there's new version comes out, which is KTX-PRO1, which uses plastic headband instead if you prefer a standard headphone for about 20 bucks, this one is a must buy, you shall not regret for the sound
Read this reviews before You buy..."What you'd expect for the price", I bought these to use for private keyboard playing. They didn't disappoint me for the price I paid. They were fairly adjustable, and were comfortable too. I also used them for computer gaming as they work well for 3D sound effects. The volume control works well too. Then one day, I tripped over the cord and the wire ripped right out of the volume control box. Ok, so maybe I tripped over it kind of hard. But if you are a little clumsy like me, take care of these; they aren't the sturdiest headphones you'll ever see. lol "great bargain headphone", the sound quality is good, but the phones are a little uncomfortable. the volume control on the head phone is a great asset. But i have had better products from Koss though. "Good while it lasts", The sound quality is nothing short of astounding -- the headphones deliver very impressive bass and clean sound overall. Aside from the higher-end Sonys, you will be hard-pressed to find a better pair of sub-$50 (and maybe even sub-$100) headphones. Its only weakness is that it is perhaps a little too strong on the low end -- if you really like bass, this may be a good thing, but it's not so great if you prefer hearing music the way it was recorded. The inline volume control is also very handy. However these headphones have a major Achilles Heel: durability. Only a few months after buying them, I could begin hearing distortion in the right earphone when playing low bass, which suggested that something had come loose. Shortly after, this turned into a rattling, and then a complete loss of sound out of the right. This is not the first Koss product I've had problems with, but the others were cheapie $3 throwaway headphones so I was willing to give them another chance. It wasn't much of a surprise, either, since the headphones look and feel a little too cheaply made. Shame, as I was impressed by how well they worked at such a low price. I suppose there's no such thing as a free lunch after all.
"Collapsible, but not Compact - Still a Good Buy", These headphones are a great buy for a few bucks! Perfect for the office, or on the run. While the ear pieces are a bit bulkier than more streamlined headphones, I personally don't mind them. I don't care for 'ear bud' type of headphones and too little padding is uncomfortable, so the bulkier, more heavily padded Koss Stereophones are great for me. Despite their larger size, they are lightweight and extremely comfortable. Cord length is a major plus, especially if you're plugged into your computer. Not once have I rolled away from my desk and had my headphones ripped off my ears with these. 4 feet of cord is ample and the volume control built into the cord is a nice feature. I found the sound quality to be very good with no noticeable distortion. 4 stars instead of 5, as the Koss Stereophones are "collapsible", though they are not very "compact". Also, they're fairly stiff when trying to collapse and a bit awkward that it feels as if the inexpensive plastic may break - so far so good though. You could spend quite a bit more money for a much better pair of headphones, but if price is a concern, or if the highest quality product isn't an issue and you're looking for a standard pair of everyday headphones, you can't go wrong with these...
"Best headphones for protable CD player use", If you want a pair of headphones that deliver studio quality sound and you don't want to carry around gigantic headphones when listening to your portable cd-player then these are the headphones for you. Their quality is supurb and they are the same size as normal headphones. An excellent buy.
