"Very sturdy, works well.", Bought this lock for college and so far it has worked perfectly. The steel cable loop is long enough for me to loop it around my desk and back through itself. The only thing I have to say is to make sure that your computer has a Kensington lock slot, 99%of all computers have it but just check before you buy.

"Reliable product", I'm quite satisfied with the universal laptop cable lock from Kensington. The cable is coated and the keys are vividly recognizable amongst the pile of other keys. This product is a must-have for all graduate students in a shared office environment.

"Great cable", Really comfortable cable, the lock works great and is long enough for me to secure it to the far end of my desk.

"There are locks and there is Kensington Lock", I do a lot of working travel and I'm always wary when I have to leave my laptop in the hotel room. A friend of mine had his stolen from the hotel room and the hotel took no responsibility for the loss. From that moment I decide that I needed a product with excellent reputation so after a good research over the internet I chose the Kensington 64068F Microsaver Notebook Lock and security cable. Of course a thief is a thief but if someone attempts to steal my laptop for sure they are going to have to carry the big desk from the hotel room together!

"Works exactly like it should", It's not rocket science to make a well functioning laptop lock. And this one works really well if you (like me) prefer a key over a combo lock. I only gave it a 4 because the first one that I ordered came with the wrong keys and I had to get a replacement.

"Works like it should", This lock is easy to install, simple to lock and unlock, and serves as a great visual theft deterrent. That's really all you can ask of such a device. No, it will not stop a determined thief with a couple of minutes and a bolt cutter or who is willing to break off the flimsy piece of plastic on the laptop that the lock is designed to fit into. But it will prevent someone from walking off with your laptop when you leave your desk for a few minutes. If you need something more substantial than that then expect to pay much more money; otherwise, this lock works just fine.

"very good lock for laptop", I bought this item for a French student in my laboratory, who had a European model laptop (I had never heard of the brand/manufacturer). The lock works well and I would recommend this product to anyone. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. First, perhaps it is not obvious to everyone, but this lock only works if you can wrap it around a fixed object (not a table or chair). Second, when you "unlock" the laptop from the Kensington lock, you must take the lock with you; otherwise the lock itself could be stolen.

"Great product for the $$$", I researched several different solutions for securing my laptop at work after a few of them were stolen. Kensington products are widely regarded as the industry standard for laptop security cables, and my particular laptop (HP NC2400) was compatible. This cable also fits into my docking station, which makes it double-handy. But like many other reviewers have noted, this is not a panacea for thwarting laptop theft. I not only loop my cable through the security hole in my desk, but I also loop it through a set of mugs that I bought at my local dollar store, so if anyone tries to cut the cable, they'll make a loud ruckus. Just a suggestion to increase the efficacy of this lock for a few bucks more.

"Light, Effective, Laptop Security Solution", I have three of these and I'm pleased with them. I leave two laptops secured to the desk at all times and the third sits in my laptop backpack ready for travel. These are light, and simple to operate. No complaints. I've used the Kensington brand laptop cables for years - I think since they first came out. I lose them periodically but keep buying more. I highly recommend.

As a bonus, it looks like the newer external hard drives are now being made with the laptop security "hole/notch" so you can secure these with the security cables also. Very nice. My new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent does for sure but I've seen the security features mentioned in reviews of other drives as well.

"Works as advertised", This product works well and while not impervious to tampering, when used properly, is an adequate deterent to the casual or sneak miscreant. The locking mechanism fits snugly against the notebook side and stays firm. The key is in proper and steady positioning while turning the key in the lock. We have experienced no damage to the notebook casing.
