"A classic game", I bought this to complete my collection. I expected the graphics to be a bit cheesy, due to its age, but it was fun nonetheless.

"fun", i had need for speed 2, 3, and high stakes and all were fun; liked the music and gamplay in high stakes, graphics could have been better though but other wise a good game. if you are into racing classics then this is the game to get.

"Amazing PC Game!", My friend and I played this years ago. It is the most fun I have ever had on the PC. The multiplayer rocks, and the graphics were great for back then.

It's funny that I would review this now, because my computer won't even run a game this old. But, if you have an older PC, and it runs games, you need this.


"Need For Speed Crazy", I had the game years ago but the steering was a bit delayed. I just purchased a new system with Windows XP and a high speed graphics card and now the game works GREAT! I admit the engine sound could be a bit better, but hey for the 4 generation game of NFS what's to expect. You can't compare this game to others, just look at it for what it has in it's own options. Hot Pursuit, Career Mode, Knock Out, Single Player. The best one of all: Career Mode. The repair is very cool, it's fun to beat on the cars and trash the motor and hear it backfire, trash the body and suspention, then go back to the repair shop and watch the car reform (at the price of your winnings). Over all for the 4 level of NFS I give the game 2 thumbs up. Great job NFS.

"the best racing game ever!", This game is awsome it never gests boring, like other racing games I've played. This game would be better if there were more cars you can buy(and downlod). One of the best PC games I've played.

"Full of Challenge!", This game has lots of modes like Career Play (buy cars and pay for the damage), Hot Pursuit (runaway from the cops or become a cop and chase speeders), Knockout & Tournament. You can race a Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Porsche, Chevrolet, BMW, Jaguar, Pontiac even a McLaren. Plus you can download cars from needforspeed.com. Yet the game lacks graphical inprovement from Need For Speed III: Hot Pusuit (some tracks tend to be dark and gloomy). Some features are: you can listen to music from your own CDs, night racing & race a friend on the same machine.

"Best from the Need For Speed series", This game rocks. It is the best game in the NFS series. I bought the PSX version the day it hit store shelves. I now have the PC version as well. I breifly got a chance to try the playstation version of NFS5: Porsche Unleashed, but I like this on better, partly because the game is about one manufacturer: Porsche. In this game, you can choose to drive with the top up or down on cars that are so equipped. The hot Pursuit mode is hotter than ever with thre different game mode within Hot Puruit. Plus there are extra cars available from the NFS website. Any diehard race fan should get this game now.

"Great Game", I am a fan of racing games. But I don't really know how detailed I can get on the reality of this game. I don't have anything to accelerate my graphics, and I run all of it off a labtop, so I guess I ain't gettin all of it. But what I do get is awesome! There are so many cars, and they aren't from just 5 companies, there is loads. They even got Mclaren in there. When you just look at your track selection on the main screen its kinda disapointing. But there are loads to unlock, maybe even more then they give you straight away. I own a sidewinder joystick from Microsoft but I find it really hard to use on this game. Downloading the cars from the wesite never worked for me and I have a DSL line, but I don't know about anyone else. Midtown Madness is better but this still is a really cool game.

"Pretty good", If you have a 3dfx card, if you have a more advanced card like TNT2 or Geforce, just don't update your drivers and you should be alright. You don't get all the graphic benefits but it goes pretty fast in 32 bit mode at 1024 x 768. Nice selection of cars and cocpits too. Music very good. Engine noise could have been better, too synth, but better than most racing games. I haven't driven in a while but I know what it's like to go above the speed limit on a winding road. and this game is decent at simulating it(especicially if I play in a pitch dark room)
