"LOVE this for my toddler"
we use it on our mac with NO problems.

my son loves this program though after almost a year he's starting to get bored--which isnt so bad really. There is plenty to click on as long as you're in the right portion. At 2.5 he can get himself into the chair, turn the program on, navigate it completely and quit.

sometimes I'm still surprised at what he finds in the program, its full of hidden fun.

because of this program, i have a 2 year old who is incredibly comfortable with computers (now tries to navigate the web, whoa!), AND looks at items in the real world that are in the book, for example, when he sees an aligator, he either says, "aunt annies aligator, a a a." or "a is for aligator!"

"Disappointing."
The description led us to believe that the game was much more interactive than it actually was. Our almost 6 year old was bored with it the first time she played it. The game reads the words on the screen and has limited opportunities to click on the screen for other words to appear. There were no options for reading each section and then having confirmation, practicing how to spell, etc. Overall, a waste of our money.

"Entertaining and fun!"
Our two year old really likes this and kept asking to "watch ABC's on the computer." It includes a reading of the book, which is more involved than the video (which we also like) as well as an interactive part that our little one does not use yet. It is a nice complement to the book and I expect we will get quite a bit of use out of the interactive part in a year or so. Even though it is an old program it works fine with XP for us.

"Great rhyme's and hilarious illustrations!"
I say only Dr. Seuss and Living Books could make the alphabet so unpredictably entertaining. I do like the fact that it contains more than 400 alphabetically inspired surprises hidden within 26 pages that shows children learning words and letters which can be fun and silly at the same time!

My 4 year old son just loves this CD and he also has "Green eggs and Ham," which I also recommend. This quintessential Seuss book defiantly teaches the alphabet through a series of nonsense rhymes and hilarious illustrations.

Young siblings can learn to recognize both capitals and lowercase letters. Sound effects and talking characters truly add depth and humor to the basic alphabet, and Seuss's version of the "ABC" song will become a permanent sing-along favorite. This CD is one of my son favorites. I tell you this boy can seat in front of that computer for a long time. If you're able to get your hands on this item you won't regret it. Highly recommend.

"Runs with XP "
There's an occasional lag, but generally it runs fine on my machine. My 3-1/2-year-old son loves the software. He laughed so hard at the "baby bouncing on his bottom like a ball" that he had to lay his head down on mouse to recover.

What our customer's say!

"Might like it if we could USE it", Bought the ABC and Green Eggs and Ham cds (they came as a set). Could not load GE&H on my hubby's laptop (running XP) without hanging, so we tried my desktop (running Vista). It loaded, and runs, but continues to hang on occasion. ABC is worse; we can't get past the letter B before it hangs. Both computers have more then enough RAM, OS are listed as compatible, etc. It gets one star 'cause we can run GE&H most of the time, and my 3 1/2 yr old LURVES it.

"Great! My son enjoys it over and over!", My son is 4 and is learning his A,B,C's with this program!
Its fun and keeps him interested. I enjoyed picking it out online, the price was great and the service too. Thanks!

"Software is NOT compatible with OS X 10.5", Here are the documented system requirements as shown to a customer:

# Macintosh:
# Power Mac
# 68020 or faster processor
# 8 MB RAM
# 80 MB hard disk space
# 2x or faster CD-ROM drive
# 256-color or better video display
# Mouse

My computer meets these requirements. However after receiving the CD a key system requirement was identified:

OS 7.5 - 9

Hmmm wait a minute. OS X (10.5.1) Leopard no longer supports OS 9!

When you insert this CD you will get:
You can't open the application "Dr. Seuss's ABC" because the Classic environment is no longer supported

The little apple compatibility icon needs to be updated to reflect reality.

"Excellent dvd for students! ", I teach mentally retarded adults and a program I found that really works with my students is Dr. Seuss Living Books ABC on CD-ROM. My daughter, who is 6, prefers to have the use of a mouse to play on the program, but many of my students who have problems using a mouse, prefer to have the book read out loud to them. Either way, this CD-ROM both teaches and entertains!

"It might as well just be a video", My 3-yr old daughter is entertained by this, but as we watched it, I couldn't help but wonder why it is sold as software rather than just a DVD you would watch on the TV. It's almost entirely non-interactive. The menu includes options to either have the story read to you, or to "play now", the latter presumably being the interactive option. But, from what I can tell, both options do exactly the same thing, which is to read the story from A to Z with on-screen animation.

"Can't find one better!", My daughter has loved this book since she was born. I've literally been showing it to her since she was only a couple months old and she still can sit through the whole book (about a half hour or so) every day! I think it's better than the others because (1) it's read in kid's voices, (2) every page looks different unlike many of these software books, and (3) it has lots of nice music and song effects. And I don't feel so guilty for using a computer book since it's somewhat educational. I wish I could find another she likes half as much because I've seen this one a thousand times! (By the way, hitting the space bar while it's in reading mode stops it.)

"Good, but too much belching", This was the first software that we bought for our sons. They enjoyed it from about 2 1/2 years old. My youngest, at 4 1/2, wouldn't now reach for it, but would do it if it was set up. My only complaint is that the characters can't seem to eat anything without belching.

"Excellent Software for Toddlers", This was the 1st piece of software we purchased for our daughter and before we knew it she was both singing and reciting her ABC's. It will not only teach your children their ABC's but will also help their hand eye coordination with the mouse. In addition, it will keep your child captivated with all the silly things we love and hold dear from Dr. Seuss.

"Grows with your child", Our daughter has been enthralled by this CD since she was 14 months old and simply watched as the book was read to her, letter by letter. As she's become familiar and proficient with the mouse, she keeps coming back to discover new characters, words and activities. It's given us all hours of enjoyment.

"true Seuss style", You can either have the computer read each letter and its story to you, or you click through the pages at your speed and play along. If you play, each letter page has a number of drawings and items that you can click on. Some will move and do silly things that kids find amusing. If you want you can hear some of Seuss's creations singing the ABC song which helped my daughter remember how the alphabet went. I prefer this version of ABC because Seuss certainly does not use ordinary words or animals. It won't keep you child enthralled forever as the stories don't change, but I think it is a worthwhile purchase for young toddlers just learning their ABC's because of the variety on each page. I don't regret buying it.
