"Predator (Blue-ray).", Oh man, what an American classic. This is my favorite movie of all time !!!

I am so happy they decided to redo this masterpiece. Blue ray makes it even better. Awesome LOVE it !!!!!!.

"Pure entertainment.", This movie is a rare gem in the industry. Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite group of U.S. commandos into the deadly jungles of South America to find and rescue a group of government officials who've been kidnapped by terrorists. But soon another enemy comes on sceen, slaying Arnie's men one by one. The detail too on the Predator is outstanding for a movie that is 21 years old with great special effects especially the camoflauge scenes and camera work.

Another great title to add you collection if you enjoy Arnold's movies. If you are looking for a good scare then this is the movie to get. This film is now available on a collector's edition if a wide range of special features including rare deleted scenes, never-before-seen outtakes and 7 beautifully detailed behind-the-scenes featurettes which covers just over 5 hours.

And like most reviewers here, I highly recommend this for it's a rare gem, it's a classic compared to the rubbish of science fiction/horror flicks around now. Definitely a collector's item and on DVD it's going to be a classic forever. I highly recommend this one. Pure entertainment for everyone.

"smash hit of Predator footage ", all together this is a dynamic dvd set {must have} the documentry of how the film was made back in 87 w/ behind the scenes commentary makes it all the more worth wild!!! especially the lay out on the Predator costume as well the interviews w/ john mctiernan are also good in Mexico

just would have been great if a few yrs back when the scond one was done if they had arnold of course back in the Jungle setting!!!!

"Ratings should be for the Blu-Ray-HORRIBLE Transfer", There is NO WAY, that this film gets a cumulative 4/5. The ratings have been pulled over from the SD. Amazon, please consider adding a separate database field for PQ and AQ for the hi-def products.

This movie itself for me is a 5. I love it! The transfer- a nightmare. Tons of noise, color flutuation and light changes/artifacting. The picture is soft, too.

Fox/MGM were just (10/2008) given some of the worst ratings, for their Blu-Ray releases and I understand why. I am a huge fan of this franchise, and was incredibly excited to see this in hi-def. If 0 stars was an option, I'd give it a 0. This Blu-Ray transfer is among some of the worst that I have seen.

For the premium price paid for Blu-Ray I expect a pristine picture and sound. Fox/MGM I hope you're listening. This truly is shameful!

I am thoroughly disappointed and all of the future MGM/Fox titles will be considered "rentals" until I see an review.


"Worst looking print!", WOW what a bad looking print. Who the heck was in charge of this Blu-Ray transfer??? Does the 'Ray' stand for Ray Charles? because it looks as if a blind man choose to use this print! All the fuzzies, dots, lines, and blemishes on this print look ever better in hi-def! Why on earth can't the original negative be used? If I'm gonna pay a higher price, then I should get a much better picture. Shame, shame, shame, on them.

"Predator Blu Ray review - Read This!", Over the last 4 months, I've read many reviews on the blu-ray picture quality of Predator. Many have bashed it as terrible looking transfer, however I am here to dispute it with proof. After much hesitation, I finally decided to purchase it from a retail store.

I popped in the blu-ray Predator into both my Panasonic BD30 and PS3 (for comparison), which is attached to my Pioneer Plasma PDP-5020 via HDMI, and would you believe the picture was outstanding. Of course, it doesn't look as good as other films that were released in past few years but this is best I have ever seen Predator look, with no distracting grain, digital noise or fuzziness as others have claimed. The picture actually pops with trees and jungle leaves showing lots of detail. I have attached 2 pictures so you can see how good it looks on my display.

The reasons why I think this blu ray looks terrible for all the reviewers (Pros and consumers)is because they have HDTV's that do not have 1) deep dark levels 2) 24 FPS and 3) Digital Noise Reduction capable displays. Pioneers are way ahead of all other HDTV's and here is the proof.

Before you decide to bash the blu-ray version of Predator, first ask yourself if your HDTV is really up to performing at its highest level.

"Don't see what all the fuss is about", Grown men running around in the jungle. That's really all there there is to this movie. I love the alien and alien vs. predator series put I really never cared for the original predators. As a matter of fact only give it three stars because everything else from the Predator universe is great. If not, I probably would have given it a one, or a two star review. Like most people say it really is Rambo meets Alien in the jungle, but to me it has no soul, no depth to the movie like the first two Alien movies. Those movies I'll always remember, but the characters in Predator are pretty two dimensional. Yes there's a ton, if not a truckload of action, but that's really all. Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie are all like that. The dialogue is also terrible, and there all trying way to hard to not sound like 10 year olds. I know most people love this movie and think of it as an instant classic, but it just doesn't click with with me. It's also not scary, or truly suspensful.In the end, the whole movie tries to hard. I do recommend the Predator comics though. They are waaaay better than the movies. D+

"bad transfer", Just get the regular DVD on this one. i didn't see anything that really stood out in the transfer. and the audio needs to be remastered.

"Quality Cheese", This is probably my favorite, over-the-top, action movie. It has likable characters, memorably cheesy quotes (i.e., "I ain't got time to bleed"), and a high body count. This movie is alot of fun. As one reviewer described it: "superior mindless trash."

"Good Transfer to DVD (Widescreen Collector's Edition (2 discs))", The opinions presented in the various reviews regarding the quality of the transfer of this (1987) film to DVD span the full range from horrible to excellent. My comments are based on the 2-disc "Widescreen Collector's Edition" of "Predator". The format of this edition is anamorphic widescreen which was also enhanced for 16 x 9 aspect ratio screens since the picture fills the entire TV screen.

For the most part, the transfer of sound and picture is excellent. The only problem is that the video transfer is not consistently excellent. Most of the scences look crystal sharp with great color on my large-screen, high-definition LCD TV (played on a Toshiba 1080p HD DVD player--the "upconversion" helps)--but then there are short segments (a few seconds here and there) where the image becomes suddenly quite grainy--but, since most of these grainy segments are night scences, the problem is not too obvious. Most of the night scenes, however, are crystal clear and sharp with fantastic contrast. Luckily, the grainy segments are very brief in duration and do not really detract from the overall entertainment value of the movie.

Nonetheless, this exciting, suspenseful, classic Arnold film deserves a high-definition remastering.
