"Milepost Review"
The only way to travel the Al-Can and the best way, (short of actually being there), to remember the great state of Alaska!

"The most useful tool for your travel!"
A little background, we are Air Force and we recently PCSed to Elmendorf, AK. We used the milepost to plan our stops and it was a lifesaver. Everything that you could ever want to know about any route to Alaska, the scenic markers, the stops, even road conditions and pullouts, they are all in there. A must for any traveler.

"Milepost 2008--the complete Alaskan tour guide"
I bought Milepost 2008 for a friend, so I have not used it myself. However, I was so intrigued by the contents of this book, that I am have developed a strong desire to make the trip. The book is very detailed, and seems to cover everything one needs to know to tour Alaska.

"couldnot live with out this book"
Milepost was invalueable for my Alaska Highway trip.
the only drawback was Williams Lake had little mention and there is a lot of lodging and dining establisments.

"Essential for Alaska Road Travel"
Other reviewers were right. If you are driving to or in Alaska, you need the Milepost. Side roads and towns are included as well as major highways and road conditions. It contains EVERYTHING you can drive to, and more. It would take a a week nonstop to read the whole thing. Weather you are intersted in wildlife, views, fishing, trails, glaciers, etc, you need it. Period.

What our customer's say!

"love it", We are planning a trip in June,09 and I have been attempting to read this book from cover to cover. It is so full of information and is so precise with it's info with giving you enough info without info overload. I plan to take it with us, I like how it gives you email info for contacts, lists activities for each area,etc... I expected a small pocket book and received and book full of everything I could possible ask for. I am currently planning my trip from just this one book. Thanks for all the help, Also a note to the seller thanks for following up on the delivery delay. I will definitely order from you again.

"Get One", I really like the fact that it also includes travel info about travel through Canada on the way to Alaska! It'll get used hard next summer.

"Nothing but Ads!", I bought this becuase of the reviews. Big Mistake.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE I BOUGHT THIS JUNK GUIDE! Nothing but RV ads! I paid for RV ads! You can do WAY BETTER getting a AAA guide book and maps.

I wanted GOOD maps of Alaska and Canada. There is nothing in this guide but mile marker and road turnout descriptions. I WANT MAPS!

There are few maps in this guide. The few in it are worse than the phone book maps!

Do not waste your money on this book. You would be better served emailing or writing the tourist board of Canada by region or the Alaska Tourist Board.

This book is a phone book of Ads that you are paying for! Total RIP OFF!

"Great Alaska info", This book is an excellent source of Alaska information and is presented in a very orderly manor.

"Milepost 2008", Excellent reference guide for trips to and within Alaska by road. We flew a small plane to Alaska and found it very useful once we were on the ground and moving around by car. Information is detailed, well-organized, and unbiased. The Milepost 2008 (Milepost)

"Great Step by Step guide to Alaska", Much better then the run of the mill AAA tour guide, its got very detailed info with pictures. the Ads for camp sites, hotel, and rental places are also very helpful. its a must have for anyone going to Alaska for the first time.

"Invaluable", We just got back from driving through BC, Alaska, and parts of the Yukon. The Milepost was absolutely invaluable. It gave us so much information about what was on the road: routes, rest stops, campsites, points of interest, history and general information. Riding shotgun, I had it open on my lap most of the time. This is for a person who likes to know what they are passing on the road and for someone who appreciates details. Because it contains so much information, it can be a challenge figuring out how to use it. Take a few minutes and don't get discouraged. It will make your trip a hundred times easier.

"Milepost 2008", We live in the lower 48 and have driven to Alaska four times over the past 19 years, but when we were getting ready to drive up again, we didn't hesitate at all, we purchased the "Bible" of travel to Alaska....The Milepost. We cannot even think of driving up there again without it in our truck. It is excellent. The material in this book is the best that there is. Period.

"Prep for a 2 month RV trip to Alaska", Background - we have been planning a 2 month RV trip up the Alaska highway and around Alaska (Denali, Anchorage, etc) - we leave on May 15th but have been doing the planning for more than a year now. And I have been looking for all the info I can get - to help me prep for this wonderful event - hopefully the first of several trips to Alaska. We must have a dozen books that we have purchased read and used. And we first bought the 2007 to start our reading and then purchased the 2008 to have the most current informtion for our trip.

There is nothing like the Milepost. Every mile, every highway, every trash can / pullout / restaurant / gravel section / etc. As close as you can get to someone who has driven every mile of every road and is telling you what you will experience - steep grades, gas stations, etc. Now, you have to read a lot - mile by mile by mile by mile - to catch references and hints at what interests you. But in the process, you also are made aware of confusing intersections, areas where Grizzley bears frequent, long (50 mile) stretches without any fuel stops. etc.

I have 2 "weaknesses" about this book.
1. You will work to get the information out of this "telephone sized" book. There is no big index section that will tell you about all the RV camps - nor all the BC parks, nor ... anything. You have to read mile by mile by mile to find what you want. The information is there and there is no other book like it.

2. The only other omission in the Milepost is that it (by design) only covers attractions, events, that are on the highways. So if you want to do something that is not on a major highway, it may not be in the Milepost.

Still, bottom line, if you are driving any of the Alaska, Yukon, BC highways, you should get this book and carry it.

"Alaska trip", This book is the best information I have found for helping to plan a trip to Alaska. Very up to date information.
