"Surprisingly Comprehensive, Easy to Read"
Having had a blog for the past 5+ years, I believed the entire blogging phenomenon to be basic. Fun, but basic. I also simultaneously knew that I was deluding myself into thinking I fully understood the ins-and-outs to this world of personal on-line publishing. Little did I know that I needn't have been scared of undue complications when it comes to my blog... Mr. Jonathan Yang has made it clear that creating and manipulating a blog (and many other types of on-line personal media) is easy enough such that you can spend far less time immersing yourself in techno-jargon and more in communicating whatever you feel in whatever way you wish.

This book is heavy with fascinating topics, but at the same time extraordinarily easy to read. While I've already read the entire thing, this book will constantly serve as a refreshing guidebook the next time I'm blogging and wondering, "Alright... what now?"

"The First Book You Want To Get"
"The Rough Guide To Blogging" is a deceptively small book, but it has virtually everything you need to answer your questions. There are clear, concise chapters on getting started, acquiring skills, and getting your blog noticed. There's also an up-to-date (as of 2006) guide to a dizzying number of current blogs, as well as evaluations of and instructions to providers like Blogger, TypePad, and Yahoo. This is definitely the best value for your dollar of all the books about blogs that I know.

"blogging done right"
this book will not leave my desk anytime soon. great source for information & all things blog: formatting, styles, and everything else you need to make your blog appealing and worth visiting frequently. the author is down to earth and doesn't overwhelm you with nerdy lingo. i would reccomend this to anyone that wants another creative outlet (it feels good to blog), as well as anyone that has internet access and can type.

"everything you could possibly need"
This book breaks down what you need to know about starting or maintaining (or just reading) blogs into digestible bits. In keeping with the Rough Guides series, it is accessible but not patronizing, the tone is engaging, and it's ahead of the curve (pointing out blogs you might not otherwise learn about, etc.). I liked that it was a quick read so I didn't waste time and could get back to the internet - he definitely knows his audience!

"Unusual - and even fun - beginners blogging guide", This is a super little book about blogging that establishes a niche of its own. Starting with the unlikely cover pic of an Eskimo with laptop, apparently blogging on a seat of furs in an expanse of endless ice and snow, the book logs into unusual textual terrain as well.

The first few chapters, 1 through 4, discuss the rise of blogging - what blogs are, how to find them on the blogosphere, how to subscribe to blog readers...there's a swift grounding.

Chapters 5 through 8 cover the set up basics; there is actually (albeit barely) enough to get you off the ground from blog hosting to blog design.

Chapter 9 discusses blogorrhea, finding your voice, how to be interesting and honest online, editing your work, and building your audience.

The traffic chapter is concise - and far from comprehensive. Nothing here will teach you to get to the top of the search engine rankings. But the tips about sitemeters, IP addresses, page rank (and even Google bombing) are at least a start.

Pages 64-65 cover the basic elements of a post, from tips on titling, to time stamps, pull quotes, adding comments and permalinking. The next pages discuss why Times Roman and Georgia are the most common blogger serif fonts, and how Verdana and Courier new can be useful as sans serif choices. There is some neat stuff here I have not seen in other books of this ilk.

Especially enjoyable are the many chapters (about half of the actual book) about popular blogs in different genres. It's neat to read the screen captures and mini-reviews of the best blogs in fields like politics and journalism, diaries and journaling, education and business.

The author's personal blogroll is fascinating as well, including lists of neat blogs on art, cars, celebrities, design, food, gossip, pets, knitting, law, literature, sports and sex.

This is a really fun book. Recommended as a supplemental blogging guide, best used beside a more complete introductory blog text like Blogging for Dummies or the Everything Blogging Book.

"Great little reference book for the blogger and soon to be blogger", Whether or not you already blog, "The Rough Guide to Blogging" can get you up and running if you're new to blogging and provide tips for those who already blog. [...]

"Terrific introduction to blogging", This is a wonderfull book about blogging. It is mainly an introduction. The book starts with some general information about blogging. Next it explains the different kind of blogs, were to host your blog or use a server side blog. It also guides you how to write a blog, how to earn money with your blog. The last part of the book consits of a list per category of the most important blogs. It is not a book to read from cover to cover. I used it for inspiration and examples as well as instruction book. What I did was read a chapter and followed the links it provided. The design of the book is very pretty, well done a pleasure to read and a excellent introduction.
It doesn't go into details how to maintain a blog or how to do research for your blog e.g. using e-mail alerts, website monitors etc.

"Informative, easy, and to the point! A great read!", I was very pleased with this book. After only a couple days of reading through it I was able to grasp the concepts of blogging and begin my own blog like a pro!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in blogging, it is a MUST HAVE!
