"Instrumental blues"
An excellent book/CD combo. Provides most everything you need to know to play guitar blues. (You still gotta practice though).

"Excellent Book"
I am 46 years old and just started to play less than a year ago, I spent most of my time learning and working scales, up and down, over and over again. (I actually listened to my teacher) This book is awesome, it has given me lots of great riffs to work with, the cd is a great tool for learning the phrasings. I have already started to experiment with my own versions of the riffs. The "Music Minus Me" tracks are great for practicing and perfecting the riffs. There are 3 different keys to work in, allowing a wider range of learning. My wife now prefers that I practice/play without head phones on. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks for a great book.
Nick

"Great learning tool"
This book does just what it says on the box! No complications. It breaks down a simple 12 bar blues and provides plenty of 2 bar riff ideas that you can use over the backing tracks. Tracks are simple slow blues in E, A and G [2 of each] and each about 4+ minutes long. It's a great learning tool and worth buying just for these jam tracks.

"An excellent approach to 12 Bar Blues"
This is an excellent tab book for a beginner who wants to explore more into 12 bar blues in a faster way. 12 bars are divided into 6 sections. Each sections with a piles of riffs. After you master all riffs (normally within a month), you can mix and match. Then you'll got numerous cycles of cool 12 bar blues solo coming out of you axe.

"Excellent Electric Chicago Style Blues material"
This is the best book on "Electric Guitar" Blues I have ever used - nothing else comes close. It covers Chicago style blues - in places strongly reminiscent of Albert King and Roy Buchanan. The riffs are constructed in a "call and response" - but there's nothing basic about them. They are all usable, and many of them are surprisingly easy to play. There's nothing corny or academic in this book - it sounds fresh. These are real licks, not just scales or fretboard tricks. No open strings are used, so the riffs can be used in any key. In a very few places the tab isn't completely accurate, but even where its wrong its close enough for any guitarist to work out the correct version. The quality of the CD is excellent.

What our customer's say!

"Excellent book!!!!", I have been playing guitar for over three years and despite constant efforts to come up with my own soloing ideas, I always seem to sound like I am just playing up and down scales. This book has really helped me get past this stumbling block and start making my solos sound like solos!!!! Definitely recommend this book!!!

"wish I'd had this 20 years ago", this is the book and cd I wish I'd had 20 years ago. My favorite music is blues, especially Allman Brothers, BB King, Muddy Waters. This cd and the book teach in baby steps (literally a bar at a time) and in the first five examples i've already learned licks I've tried to play for years. I'm an intermediate player.

"Must have", Of all the guitar books I own, this is the one I will complete.
The licks are right out of the blues scale, but take tasteful,
unexpected turns. I always start a practice session going over this book
to make sure what I have learned stays in rotation.
Glad to own it.

"b by the b", You really know how to read music and tabulature in order to use this book.

"Great Blues Teacher", I have been playing for over 35 years, taught and played professionally. This book is the real deal. If you want a book that will show you riffs and how to put them together then this is it. The riffs are arranged in 2 bar phrases that are sections of the the 12 bar blues form. You can pretty much use any 2 bar phrase in conjunction with any combination of 5 other 2 bar phrases to make a solo. You will play these 2 bar phrases and say to yourself, I have heard that riff and now I am playing it. This is not beginner stuff that merely runs up and down the blues or pentatonic scales, these are real phrases that you have heard on CDs. Buy this book if you want to really learn to play the blues!!

"Good book with nice tracks", This is a real good practical book that not only give you the riffs but also why and when to use it. It is not the beginner
book that tell you what is banding and hammer-on nor pentatonic scale, but it tell you how to analyse licks and best bar to put in (that many licks book does't!), therefore, it may make your old licks book more meaningful! After all the 12 bar riffs, you also get the complete demo solo track that show you how to plug the examples in. furthermore, you get some jam track on key G, A and E in different progression, so you can use it on your preference key. I only have problem with this tracks is the tempo, is a bit too slow, but I solved this by speed it up
with the cakewalk software.Another credit is the progression on the jam tracks is very clear, so can follow much easier!

"Great Intermediate Level Book!", I think about half of the licks would be technically difficult for a beginner. But, even a beginner could buy it now and grow into it. All licks are played in context (with a backing band) and are in the key of G. The student is left to transpose them to other keys -- which I think is fine. The book is organized by the bars in a 12-Bar blues. Bars 1 & 2 in G7, 3 & 4 in C7 (quick change format) and so on. Licks are arranged in that order. This seems to me to be more useful than jumping from one lick in C to another in F# with tempo changes, etc. This book is much less helter skelter. I also like Hunt's style. It's not immediately identifiable with one player or a certain approach to the blues. Very contemporary and a good mixture of notes from the major and minor pentatonic scales. One of the best instructional packages on the blues that I've come across. MORE PLEASE!

"Cool and Bluesy", This is one of the better books I have purchased. Used with a CD trainer which slows the riff down and retains the proper pitch it is really great. I like it

"Great!!!", The most helpful book by far when it comes to putting it all together and yet, keeping if fairly simple. If there is one better I sure haven't found it! It teaches you how to build the house not how to pound nails. Theory, scales, and even riffs out of context are merely pounding nails if you don't know how to put them together. Some of the lines might be tough for the beginner from a technique basis but are easy enough if your chops are up.
With a little practice you can mix these lines all over the place and really come up with some nice solos. You'll get your money's worth and then some with this one. About ready to give up trying to play Blues? This is the book for you!

"You'll Need a Tuner", The riffs are great for slow blues in G. The explanations about the construction of a blues solo are obviously the voice of experience.

I have maybe twenty blues books and this is by far the most practical and can get you playing in a blues jam the fastest.

I took away a star because the CD inexplicably is missing the open-string tuning notes so that you can be sure that you are in tune with the band.

If you have a tuner, then this should be the book for you. If not, then buy a tuner and get this book.
