"Brilliant", This book has become my quilting bible. Harriet's years of quilting experience has led her to share the pit-falls of/and best of thread, needles and accessories for quilt making and quilting. She starts from the beginning - how to treat your fabric for straighter cutting, needle sizes, thread size,sewing feet plus, fabrics they are suitable for. Quilting with grids, free motion quilting and how to get started plus patterns and photos of exquisite quilts. Her book is written in clear concise language leaving no ambiguity.
I believe this book is a must on any quilters shelf whether a learner or advanced quilter.


"Definite Improvement", I ordered Harriet Hargrave's book because my machine quilting left a lot to be desired. I read through the book cover-to-cover before I started my next quilt using her techniques. They really made a difference. Seams are flatter, more accurate. The quilt is smooth, no 'easing' blocks to make them fit. I also cut up muslin so I'd have practice squares 'at the ready' to make sure my machine and I are speaking the same tension language. I thoroughly recommend this book.

"Excellent guide to machine quilting.", This book covers every aspect of machine quilting. It has excellent photos of completed quilts and I read the whole thing instead of just scanning and reading what seem the most interesting. It was very informative and I highly recommend it.

Harriet Hargrave has helped this confirmed hand quilter to know it is not only okay to use a sewing machine to finish a quilt, but the quilt can be absolutely beautiful as well!

The book has excellent chapters on the best way to set up your sewing room and sewing machine. I loved the authors method of basting without the need of a set of quilt frames. I am recommending the book to everyone I talk to!
