"Professional advice ", This series, For Pros by Pros, is the very best series for practical, detailed information on Do It Yourself projects. Too many books just give general information that leaves you hanging if your situation is not exactly like the description in the book and don't give you sufficient information to completely describe what to expect. This series actually helps you complete the job by telling you what you really need to know.

"Full of helpful hints, well worth the money", As other reviewers have pointed out, this is an excellent book for someone with a bit of house wiring experience. It doesn't cover all the basics, and it doesn't completely cover everything one would need to wire a house, but it is chock full of ideas for doing a better wiring job, and making sure you are following the National Electric Code. I especially like the Above Code recommendations--all of which aren't applicable for wiring my cabin, but I've incorporated quite a few.

I'll be going back to this book again and again as my wiring progresses through the final stages. I highly recommend this book as an addition to a library of house wiring resources.

"Great book!!", We are building a log home & doing everything ourselves. Picked up this book after reading a framing book in the same series (For pro's by pros). This book covers all the basics, & includes many pictures, diagrams, anything you could ever want.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great for the serious do-it-yourselfer", OK, so this book is NOT aimed at folks who get worried by the mere THOUGHT of electricity. However, if you are COMPETENT at DIY, it is excellent - there's perhaps more about site preparation and getting ready for the electricity company to connect up than I needed, but the above code hints were extremely handy.

One or two tips were missing - for example, when wiring ceiling lights it is a good idea to use 12-3 rather than the cheaper 12-2 so that you can put a fan on a separate switch by the door rather than relying on the pull cord.

His recommendations for Siemens breaker boxes is right on, by the way.

"Wiring a House (For Pros by Pros)", The book was very helpful for someone serious about doing a wiring project. The writer needs to update the book every time the code changes and the book has not been updated for most recent code. But overall it's very good.

"Wiring for Pros?", This guy is seriously overstating the simplicity of the book.Its supposed to be for amateurs not pros and while their is afair amount of information ,it really comes up short with install tips.Would not recommend

"A great book for the noob or expert", This is a great book that teaches all the basics and some of the advanced techniques for wiring a house.

I'm taking a class that is using the book for the textbook. Since I can't make it to every class, I decided to buy it and it has helped a lot.

It's very easy to read and understand, personal experience and a bit of humor make it a very fun read.

"Extremely readable", I am well familiar with the high quality of Taunton Press. That was why I took a close look at this book. I found this book in the local library. I checked it out, along with two others. After a few minutes of comparing, I never reopened the others. I immediately ordered my own copy, along with a copy as a gift for a friend. I am an electrical engineer, so I understand the principles of electricity, but this book clearly and eloquently tells the reader how to be a do-it-yourself electrician.
