I was hoping for some hard numbers on what kind of rates are normal for buying and selling debt different types of debt, but all I could find was that the author usually charges a 25% commission.

At $16.95 I suppose it's wasn't too much pay for a few pieces of good advice.

This book was everything I wanted. It was advertised to be a "primer" which by definition means a book that covers the basic elements of a subject.

As someone in the thinking stage of starting a home based collection agency I found this book extremely helpful. I now have a resource that gives me basic information related to various state license contacts, collection software, useful links, freelance help, the Fair Debt Collection Act, sample collection / sale letters and more. This is the type of information I wanted.

Should I decide to start this type of home-based business, I will then search out additional (and more expensive) information from sources like The American Collectors Association.
If someone has an extensive hands-on debt collection experience and broad industry knowledge, this may not be the book for you. I do not have such a background and found this book to be an excellent beginners guide. DIGITAL VERSION REVIEW

I found the book disappointing with very little information specific to debt collection. I was hoping for insights into the collection industry, however, the first 25 pages were devoted to a very general business plan. The Fair Information Act infomation is available online for free and the final chapter consisted of self-congratulations by the author. I wish Mr. Bills had shared his considerable knowledge of the industry in much more depth.
