"A very good option", I live in Venezuela, I speak spanish as native language. I'm learning English by myself as a second language. This book and CD audio are very good, in it you will find dialogues and dayly expressions that can help you if you are not an expert. I can write in English so so, but my hear is not trainned to listen english conversation and dialogues. If you want to improve your English vocabulary and train your hear, it is for you.

"Very useful and fun for improving English", Speak English Like an American has a great format. You learn hundreds of American English idioms and phrases through a story. You have the option of listening along on a CD too.

"Not useful in improving english.", I was really dissapointed with this book. It is not worth the money. All it does in this book, so called "Speak like an American" is to provide some american english slang.

"very useful book", this is a very good book, i even didnt expect it. All idioms in it are really common and used by native americans.I am just in the beginning of the book but i started to bother my husband and surroundings by using idioms all the time:)This book is not for the beginners but for people who wants to improve their language and make it more natural.Very very good book after all

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Excellent", I am really amazed of how much idioms and colloquial expressions you can learn just by listening to the CD. And guess what - these are idioms and phrases you REALLY hear everyday on the street, used by most people in everyday situations. Before, my English sounded a bit "artificial" and somehow forced. Now, the more I used the idioms I learnt here, the more natural and even friendly I sound to the native speakers.
Buy it, it's totally cheap for what it does!

"Useful Book", This is a good book to read, esp. for non-native English speaker. I learn many new expressions with ease (because the book provides proper context). The reason I give 4, instead of 5, is that there are (too) many repetitions throughout the book.

"A simple yet clever way to break into the "idiom barrier"", Remember your good old English textbook which started with an introduction of the characters who would be in the dialogs throughout the units? That's how this book is laid out. Idioms are contextualized and there are various consolidation exercises between units to reinforce them. The accompanying CD is very clear and the voices convey the moods of the characters - although I must say that the man who does Bob's voice sounds incredibly boring at times as his voice doesn't seem to show much pitch variation. Some of the idioms are already known to most high-intermediate students, but there are many others to learn, so it can certainly satisfy those students who resent not having enough "real-life" vocabulary in class. It may also be useful for the student working on his own, once the explanations are very clear. In a nutshell: It's worth buying if you're looking for a simple - yet effective - way to explore the most common idioms of American English.

"pretty good content", have learned many useful phrases from the book.
The only problem is that in the audio CD, the conversations were spoken in a rather affected manner (too slow imo). I would like the conversations to be done in a more natural way. (But then the words are all pronounced very clearly when it's slow, so there is a trade-off)

"Take a break and read this book", I found this book to be really helpful. I learned from it lots of American expressions with great ease. The book is complemented by the audio CD which I could listen to while driving. The best thing was when I started using some of the new expressions at my job and my co-workers were all impressed about it. I loved it.
