"Great Book" This book has excellent recipes for quick easy meals. There are no pictures but recipes are so easy you don't really need them. Also has great soup recipes. I highly recommend.
"This book is not bad" I like this book, its just what I needed but I wish the author could've provided pictures of the recipes, that would've made it more exciting. Overall, I would recommend this book.
"If you have tons of time, money , effort OR are looking for fresh ideas, this is okay" I am home all day and have lots and lots of experience in cooking all kinds of foods ranging from easy to very difficult. While the recipes in this are not super difficult, this is not a cookbook for most of us.
Personally, I got this book to make dieting EASIER. I wanted a list of things I can throw together for 3 meals a day, and end up with about 1200 calories no matter which I picked from each meal choice. This book, doesn't do that.
For example, for breakfasts: individual fruit platters with hot popovers (huh?) or Fresh Banana-Oat Bread and vanilla yogurt with sliced fresh peaches. Geez! That is a lot of work for BREAKFAST!
Lunches: Curried Tuna and Pecans in Pita Halves with Ambrosia Fruits. Sure Or Wild Rice-Sausage Chowder with fresh tomato I mean, I have all day, and I'm not making this for lunch. Dinner, maybe.
Dinner: Snapper on a bed of spinach-cheese sauce, basil baked tomatoes and gingered rice. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
If you want NEW and FRESH recipe ideas, this really is a great book, so I gave it three stars. But for most regular joes, this is not a great book,recipes are too complicated and if it's too much effort to just eat every day, folks will drop their diet and eat pasta and chips instead.
"Measurements"
I too thought that this book would be a big help to one person on a diet or with a restricted diet. Maybe if the portion amounts, sizes (e.g., 1 cup or 3 oz.) were added it would be more helpful. As it is all the recipes say for four and so I guess you make the recipe and then measure the entire amount and divide by four to get the portion amounts. There are also no carbohydrates listed. I was disappointed.
"Quick & Easy Recipes is very true." These recipes for the most part have items you would already have at home. They are simple and very good. My husband and I have enjoyed everything we have cooked. To me, this is a must have if you are trying to either lose weight or just trying to stay healthy. I wish she had more that I could find.

"McButter", Great recipes! But a little strange- alot of the recipes use the butter seasoning: Molly McButter- I am not even sure what that stuff is made out of. The Open-faced Turkey Meatball Sandwich recipe is incredible!!! Tasted just like the greasy ground beef version! Yum. I am excited to try more-especially the breakfast menu items. GREAT BOOK!!
"Won't fly here in the heart land", I guess it is my own fault for not investigating the actual recipes in the book, but I thought there would be standard "diet" food fare utilized in a 1,200 calorie a day format. Not so much. The book DOES deliver 1,200 calorie a day recipes it's just that none of them seem appetizing or practical. I perused it and quickly relegated it to my yard sale box of books. I mean how practical is "Wild Rice-Sausage Chowder and Fresh Tomato Slices"? There are 16 ingredients listed! Someone who can whip up a 16 ingredient dish doesn't need help putting together a 1,200 calorie day. Here is one that looks inviting..."Individual fruit platters with hot popovers" Oh wait, I don't want to whip up popovers! I wanted something to help me get OUT of the kitchen and grocery store. Sort of like a do-it-yourself Jenny Craig plan. If anyone knows of such a thing, please post it for me.
"Great Recipes!!", This book has a lot of great tasting recipes. My family and I prepared a couple of recipes so far, and it's great because it doesn't feel like you're on a diet. In addition, the great tasting food provides a great meal for others who don't know that they're getting a low calorie meal. I love the varied selection from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. The only drawback is that all the meals are prepared for a serving of four...a lot of leftovers if you're by yourself!
"Pretty nice idea", I like the format of this cookbook, but I haven't gotten to try any of the recipes. I'm looking for simple recipes to use what I have on hand at the moment. It's layout is very well thought out and it's easy to understand the nutritional data.
"Easy and delicious", I love this cookbook. I've been using it for about a month and so far we've liked every recipe. Usually recipes in diet cookbooks are so boring. I like that you can pick any breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert and still get 1200 calories without thinking about it.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Seems Good, but Isn't...", I thought this cookbook was going to be great to help me eat 1200 calories a day. Unfortunately, the recipes in this book are so unusual for lunch and dinner that I didn't even attempt them. If you're cooking just for yourself, it's probably fine, but don't expect your family to like dappling in recipes such as rolled ham with cream cheese and sweet red poppy fruit-lettuce platter.
I'm glad that I bought the American Heart Association Low-Calorie Cookbook: More than 200 Delicious Recipes for Healthy Eating. You can still manage your 1200 calorie diet using this book and the recipes are much more down to earth than this cookbook. You can read my review on that cookbook to get a better idea of what you can make for a meer 300-400 calories a meal. PLUS DESSERT!!!
"Food Substitutes", In order to keep the meals low-calorie/low-fat I found that many of the recipes call for ingredients that are processed and artificial such as butter sprays and butter seasonings, light margarine, non-fat cheese and other diary, turkey "meats" and egg substitutes etc. These are ideas that I could have come up with on my own, just switching high-fat ingredients to low-fat alternatives in any regular recipe. I guess I was looking for more of an inspired attempt and a healthier way to cook low-calorie. Also, there are no photographs.
"Awesome", This is a Fabulous book!! I can't say enough about it, I have lost 30 pounds following the recipes in this book! My children and husband don't even realize we are cutting back and eating healthier!! The meals are easy to prepare and the serving size for most meals is only 4 so there aren't a lot of leftovers and it's really easy to figure out the portions!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to eat healthier!!
"The 1200-Calorie-a-day Menu Cookbook", It is very informative and has several great recipes. Needs a few more pictures and a possible menu plan. But over all a good book to give you some recipes to get you started in planning your 1200 calorie a day menu.
"Misunderstanding", The only complaint I have about this book is that I thought it would help me cook a 1,200 calorie a day menu for myself. I was looking for a book to help me learn to cook for 1 or two. The recipes contained in this book are for 4-6 servings.
