"Awesome for a single mom"
This book was exactly what I was looking for. The author provides a Christian view into how moms can help instill desirable traits in her son. It was full of great tips for single moms. It was realistic, honest, and encouraging. A must-read for moms of boys!

"Excellent!"
As a mom of two boys, I have found this book to be an eye opener. It is written in a simple yet delightful way. I recommend it for anyone who has boys or who work with boys.

"Terrific for all moms of boys"
Gave me insight into my son, but, also helped me understand my husband. Great book with good advice. Really liked that it had a list of recommended movies to help boys see examples of good male role models. Would have liked a little more depth on how to actually implement some of the suggestions. Perhaps the additional recommended readings will expand on some of the ideas. I've recommended this book to all my friends who are raising boys. Will read again and again.

"That's My Son ... a winner for all parents"
Rick Johnson has gotten to the heart and soul of what makes a boy a boy and a man a man, physiologically and emotionally.
He gets back to the basics and common sense of parenting and his advice and tips can relate to parents of all backgrounds.
As a parent of two older daughters, my 13 year old son is posing quite a few issues I have never before faced. Mr Johnson's book addresses all of them and answers questions I have found myself up against in the past few years.
Straightforward and informative, Mr. Johnson's That's My Son is a wonderful confirmation of what you're doing as a "repeat parent" and helps guide you along if you struggle with your first experience having a son.

"Loved it!"
Read it in a couple of days. Great book for Moms and/or single moms. I have renewed faith that I can raise my boy to be a good man even if I'm the closest thing to it in his life!

"Life changing for me, my husband, & most importantly, my son! 10+", Travelling for Thanksgiving last year, I picked this book up at a huge truck stop in Waco, TX. I literally couldn't put it down, & immediately went to the better dads website to order my husband the fathers book. For the first time, I finally felt more courageous & confident on how to raise a son to become a good man. In a society that no longer encourages raising boys to become men of character & integrity, I think this should be required reading to have a son! :) I can't recommend this great book enough.....I promise it is worth every penny to purchase it, & then some. Rick also does speaking events & is an amazing speaker. We were so touched by his books, we had him come to our church in Texas to do a few of his seminars, they were awesome! Truly such a blessing to our entire community. Thanks Rick!

"Wonderful insight! Breathe of fresh air.", Being an only child with a father who was raised with a strong mother and 3 sisters, I was not ready for the differences in raising a son. This is straight forward and real life information. No scientific studies or wordiness. The real deal. Some things I never thought of facing or being an issue. Helped me "love" (v) my son again and lessen the frustration which dominated my mind.

"At last a book for moms of boys.", I have read a lot of books about raising boys, most of them written especially for fathers. This is the first book I have come across especially for moms. As a single mother with a son to raise I have been looking for a book like this.

"Great read", I really enjoyed this book. Although it is written to speak to mothers who raise their children by them selves, as a stay at home mom of a 2yo, I found the information in the book helpful. My biggest take away is to have a conversation with boys while you are moving, it registers in their brains better if you are active with them. What a great tip to help me be a better mom.

"Easy Read, Great Information", I was having a lot of trouble with my relationship with my 9 yr. old son, so I bought this book (as well as The Mommy Manual by Barbara Curtis), and although I've only just read the first chapter, I've already learned a few things about boys (and men) that I didn't understand before, and I can look at my son with a little more understanding now. I recommend this book to all moms who have sons (or a husband for that matter!) :)

"Must Read", This is a must read for moms who have boys. It was very eye opening! I grew up in a home with only girls and had no idea on some of the ways boys think. It is hard raising boys in today's society. We need to be raising our boys to be men, something that is very lacking today. The book does seem geared towards single moms, but don't let that discourage you from reading. It applies to ALL mothers, single or not.

"This has been an amazing read!", This is simply the best. As it is combined with the seminar you give, "Courageous Moms Raising Boys to Become Good Men", this will be a world changer! I am so glad to have heard about you and your work. Thank you for the easy to read, deeply insightful book. You have given many woman hope whither they are single, married, grandma's or teachers, the insight and wisdom is refreshing! I'll be looking forward to reading your next book.

"THE "ONE" BOOK EVERY MOTHER MUST READ", Being a full-time mom today is anything but politically correct. Our culture has reduced mothering to a side dish, a mere part of the meal. But, the truth is that motherhood IS a full-time vocation which requires more devotion than any career or pursuit. It is a job from which a woman never retires, a title which a woman will keep into eternity. And, today, who needs mothers most? Our young men. Boys in our culture are under attack like never before, and the men of the previous generation are failing as husbands, fathers and leaders.

If you're a mom and you're passionate about raising your son to be a man of character, a man of integrity, a man of virtue, a leader then you must read "That's My Son".

There are a plethora of wonderful Christian books about raising boys, from Robert Lewis' "Raising A Modern Day Knight" to Steve Farrar's "King Me". But, none of them are written specifically for the woman of the home, the mother. Mr. Johnson has filled that void and done it comprehensively.

There are only three parenting books that I keep in my library, to reference again and again. "The Mission of Motherhood" and "The Ministry of Motherhood" by Sally Clarkson and "That's My Son" by Rick Johnson.

"Moms of Boys need to read this one!", I was browsing through a Christian bookstore shelves, looking for a really good book for a friend of mine who is going through a divorce when I happened to see this one. I bought it thinking, oh I won't get to read it sooner than later. I was wrong. I picked it up the next week and finished it in a week in between reading other books. (This book was the only one that I finished that week!)

It is informative and helpful. It is filled with practical tips on women raising boys, especially if you're a single mom. It explains the differences between boys and girls. It touched a little bit on the society's expectations of boys and what went wrong with men today. It is not a massive volume of information but it is a start and a guide. It is also a bible study guide (where do people find those kinds of bible studies? I'd like to know because no one around here uses these kinds of topics for bible studies!).

I have two boys and I am very close to them. Right now, since their dad works second shift and they're in school from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ~~ they don't get to see their dad except for an hour in the morning. I know that in the future that I will have to be the one doing the grunt work while my husband's working. That doesn't mean that he won't be involved with them because he will be. It just means that he won't be able to break away from his job as easily and I will have to deal with the coaches, the teachers and so on. This book is definitely a helpful guide in what to do (like not running to the coach everytime my kid gets hurt or do the work for my son and so on). It shows a basic guideline in teaching the boys how to be responsible and how to be men of characters. And it is immensely helpful for this mom who is used to be surrounded by women all of her life.

"Eye opening experience* A must read!!", You know the old saying "there doesnt come a handbook with being a parent?" Well "That's My Son" is the closest thing out there to a parenting guide. Mom's we are raising men not boys, this book will have you saying " Oh my gosh, thats why he does/did that??". Rick Johnson gives all the "secrets" of manhood that we would of spent a lifetime trying to figure out had it not been for this book. A must read... give this book as a gift to all the moms of sons out there, whether they have little boys, teenagers or even grown men!
