"Llewellyn Tarot is AMAZING!", I have been through several other tarot decks in my quest to learn to read the cards. None have spoken to me the ways these cards have. The illustrations are inspiring and the Welsh mythology stories that accompany the major arcana are wonderful. They bring to life the cards and make it much easier to understand the myriad of meanings that the cards hold much more easily than memorizing key words. What I was most impressed by was that there were no cards that I disliked. I typically do not like the death card (the illustration, not the meaning), the sun card, and sometimes a few others. In this deck, all are visually appealing. Also noteworthy is the detail and skill the illustrator shows in conveying the expressions and, what I feel, are the thoughts of the human figures in the cards. Truly amazing!

"Love It!", This set is Tarot really stunning. I've just begun dabbling in the occult and this is one of the first sets I've purchased, may not be best for beginners but the artwork is beautiful and inspiring.

"ohboy-ohboy-ohboy", I have a LOT of Tarot deck/book sets. I've given lots away. This is a top of the list keeper. I kept her Legend Arthurian Tarot book and gave the cards away because they were so pale I had to use a magnifying glass to work with them, and that wasn't gonna happen! These, by the same lady, are gorgeous, full luciously colored and artistically captivating. Better still, they're so evocative that even while they adhere basically to the Rider/Waite (so anyone can use them who knows that foundational system), they invite new awareness from my subconscious, and the readings with them/plus book evoke from present situations something I might call "a bit more". This doesn't mean I lessen the value of other decks I use, only that I feel this one on a different, and very keen level. Very grateful that Amazon sent me the info asking if I'd be interested in this deck. Oh, you betcha!


"A rich, deep tapestry of insight ", The rich imagery of this deck by Anna-Marie Ferguson provides for striking insight into many situations and questions. I have owned these cards for about a year, with much success.

Bordered by soothing sage green (as are all the cards), the majors are each identified with a subject from Welsh mythology, who is portrayed on the card. The minors are fully illistrated with thoughtful renderings, which I always like to see. The (not quite reversible) backs are done in a rich, warm brown with gold diamonds and a red and gold compass in the center, featuring a winged dragon. As well, there's a beautiful, beaded, brocade draw-string bag included that's a nice addition to the package. (And the cards fan out really nice; silly, I know, but I like to do it and it's something any product by US Games won't do.)

The excellent "Tarot Companion" gives a solid grounding in Tarot, as well as providing the mythology behind each of the characters portrayed in the majors, and comments for each of the minors. This companion book gives, as well as the Celtic Cross, a spread previously unknown to me called the "Horseshoe Spread." Included in the deck are cards portraying two other new spreads called the "Red Dragon Spread, to overcome an obstacle," and "Llew's Spread, to illuminate a situation." I have found working with all three of these spreads to be insightful.

The Moon (Lake of the Maidens), The Universe (Cadair Idris), and the Eight of Cups especially speak to me. I am intrigued by the cool colors, full moons, indigo skies, and calm waters of these three cards. I'm sure you'll find cards within this deck that speak to you, too. This deck would be an excellent beginner's deck as it's grounded in the RWS tradition, but with the added depth provided by the Welsh mythology, it will provide insightful readings for the more experienced as well.

"Accurate Image Representation and Beautiful Deck", I love this deck. The images on the cards are very beautiful and portray the cards well. The Swords have lovely rich bluish-purple tones that are nice and colorful. The Pentacles(Coins and Discs in other decks) have mainly golden and red earthtones. The Wands have soft blue and golden tones. The Cups mainly have blue and lavendar colors with greens and earthtones. The Majors are very colorful with every color you can imagine. The only cards that have the names on them (Death, The Moon, etc.) are the Majors and the Minors only have the number and suit(9 of Swords, Ace of Cups, etc.). This is no problem though, because like I said, the images represent what the card is very well. There are two extra cards that have a spread on each of them..Llew's Spread and Red Dragon Spread.
The thickness of the cards is similar to regular playing cards, but not so thin that I would be afraid of ripping them easily. The cards are slippery, but I like this because it makes shuffling and spreading them easy. Be careful they don't slip away from you though until you get the feel of them. The book has shorter "to the point" descriptions with history as well and is a good companion book. The book and deck come in a good quality box that opens almost like a book and includes a lovely reddish golden bag with beads hanging from the bottom of it and golden tassles on the drawstrings.
I am very satisfied with my purchase of The Llewellyn Tarot and would recommend it for everyone.

"They're ok", The Artwork on these cards is beautiful, that is was first drew me to them, and the book that comes with it is also very nice. The reason I gave these a three is not through any fault of the cards, it's just a simple thing of connection. I don't feel a whole lot of anything from these cards which results in them rarely being used. But, to each there own!

"Wonderful Tarot Deck", I have been searching for years for the "right" tarot deck - wanting to find just the right set before I made one my own. As soon as a friend showed me this deck, I knew it was The One. The art is simply beautiful, and I love the fact that the deck is centered around Welsh mythology. The book is clear and well-written, and having the reverse readings available is great for those of us who use that method. Definitely a lovely deck!

"absolutely gorgeous", I bought these from a store here in town, adding them to my growing collection of tarot cards. The cards seem to me to be decent quality construction wise. They aren't super heavy duty, but aren't super flimsy... right in the middle. As far as being too slick to handle, I've no problem with this. They are much easier to handle than some other decks. I love their size, my favorite size of all my decks, and the artwork is stunning.

My readings with the this deck, however, are lacking. I am spot on with my traditional Rider Waite, and I've finally come into the Tarot of the Old Path (another great deck), but this deck thus far eludes me. I've taken a Celtic Mythology class at college and have read tales here and there... but the important thing for a deck to work is that the symbols within are meaningful for you. This deck keep the minor arcana very similar to the Rider Waite, but the Major Arcana is much different, based instead on Celtic myths from a Welsh perspective.

The added literature and story backgrounds for the Major Arcana is a true treat. I would LOVE for the creator of this deck to make just a faery tale book of the stories presented in this deck. That would be a true gem to go on anyone's bookshelf.

The back is a bit tight to fit the cards in and out of easily. My cats have fallen in love with the beads on the edge of the bag. So I've given it to them.

"Nice Traditional Artwork", The cards are easily translated and covering book details the characters by telling their stories, very informative.
