"Aliens Earth Hive"
After reading S.Perrys 'Earth Hive' I found myself wanting more, and before I knew it I had worked my way through 8 aliens books, 3 AVP books and 3 Predator books. From the first page of the first Aliens book I was hooked and I must admit nothing has ever been able to grab my mind and keep me thrilled and the need to keep me reading.

From a small age I have never really been interested in much reading, but being a fan of the Aliens movies and receiving the first 3 aliens books as gifts, I thought to myself that I would take the time and read them, and I am not regretting this decision.

The story is quite simple, humanity has fallen into a world of greed, living for the wants of life, not the needs. And during these sorrowful years we find ourselves in hell, as the beginning of the war for Earth begins. Alien eggs are stolen from a science facility and spread across the globe, and within a year man has to live in space stations and almost unhabitable planets.

Each of the books follows an almost linear pattern of story telling, we are introduced to almost doomed individuals and their growing struggle to live in a world and space inhabited by monsters. The books themselves originate from Graphic novels that would be inspiration for the books, and each page you can see this. The description jumps out at you, as each Xenomorph attack does, and you want to turn the page to see who lives, who dies and who, well becomes a lifeless host for the aliens.

S.Perry started with a great read, and with the help of his daughter who joined him and wrote her own stories, was met up with many other writers, and each one did a great job, bringing likable and hated characters, and the stories that would make you just hope that Earth would not be taken over by these creatures. But with each of the novels, you learn that man itself is far worse in nature than these creatures.

Thank you for all the authors who would write the books that would make me wish to continue the series and I hope to see on the bookstore shelves, one more story that would take me to a world where power and greed outways the growth of such a devastating species.

Earth Hive began it all, read it, it will scare you into reading the others...!

"A chilling sequel to Aliens"
Aliens: Earth Hive is a break neck paced, chilling thrill ride that will leave you horrified. Though most writers have struggled to bring the quick timing of the Aliens movies into book form, Steve Perry seems like he was born for the challenge.

This book serves as an alternate sequel for Aliens. The scared marine that is obviously Hicks is called Wilks here, and Newt is called Billie. Ripley is left out because it would be hitting too close to the original. Still, there's no doubt that Hicks and Newt these characters are. Wilks' face and chest were burned and scared with alien blood, Billie's flash back to her parents being taken by aliens perfectly mirrors Newt's memories from the aliens extended edition word for word of dialog.

Ten years after their encounter, Billie and Wilks are forced by the government to face the aliens again, this time of the aliens own home world. While they're facing that nightmare, people back on earth are having nightmares of their own, dreaming of the alien monsters. What no one knows is one of the monsters has been smuggled to earth, and soon disaster follows.

As a fan of the second movie, Aliens, I happen to like this sequel better than Aliens 3. It's gritty, scary, and very human all at the same time. I highly recommend it to fans of the movies and sci-fi fans in general.

" AWSOME BOOOOK!!!!!!"
this book was one of my favorite books Ive ever read it had all the elements i like in a book plenty of action lots blood good plot. What happens in the book is a group of space travlers encounter an alien species thats bread to kill. Ounce the travlers get back to earth no one believes them that they actshily foot this creater. The book then leads to the surviveers going to the alien planet sorry about my spelling.

"There's Definitely Better Out There"
While it is a light enough read that I could finish it w/ ease, EARTH HIVE is, too me, a well-executed series of mistakes. Firstly, in my understanding, the reason "Billie" and "Wilks" have such similar backstories to Newt and Hicks is because of they originally WERE Newt and Hicks, in the original ALIENS comics, which have been collected in the graphic novel ALIENS: BOOK 1: OUTBREAK. After Alien3 killed the characters off, though, they had to have a name change to avoid continuity problems. This would be the first of this book's numerous flaws.

Second is the amount of subplots. Apparently, there wasn't enough material between the six comics to fill a novel, and Mr.Perry had to "fill in the holes". As I have not read OUTBREAK I am unaware if the entire plotline concerning the assassin Massey was even in the original series, or if the Space Jockeys made any appearences. Worse, this book's one interesting idea (an alien-worshipping religious cult, explained in ALIENS: APOCALYPSE--THE DESTROYING ANGELS) is ruined by the fact that the author spends so much time setting it up all to a very unsatisfying subclimax- that is, a conclusion to the subplot.

Third is the pacing. Because of all these unnecesary and almost random events, the actual story is on the last thirty pages or so. Perhaps worse is the fact that the events of the first two-hundred pages occur over apparently a few months, and then years go by in the last seventy.

And, as if that weren't enough, the author sees fit to fill some pages with tens of pointless dream-ending chapters that contributed nothing to the overall story.

Don't get me wrong. There are some great ALIENS and PREDATOR books out there. This just isn't one of them. If you want to read the remaining entries in the otherwise-excellently-written Aliens Trilogy, I advise you to buy the ALIENS graphic novel OUTBREAK. It's far superior to this sad excuse for a book.

"stupid people who don't know Caracters"
Well this book is the best Aliens book ever but that's not the point because people think the wilk's is hick's from aliens 2 but he is not and billie is not newt Because in the book they tell you it is not them because a guy say's that we have a missing woman wwho went with a squad and left with a half of an android and a little girl. now that ring's a bell huh it is from the movie that hick's is dead in number 2 of aliens show just push yes that this helped and that you well like this book and the rest like number 2 and 3.So if i mest this up i'm sorry but there are people in this world who are just relley relley STUPID

"not a good way to start the series, but ok", i started reading this book with higth expectations, only to be let down. the book drags on and on, and all these characters wich have practicaly nothing to do with the story keep get added to the mix. was it worth the wait for the end? well, kind of. i thought it was smart that it conected to the first alien movie and the sudden rush of energy. one major problem with the book is the large amount of sexual content within its pages. i rate the movie M15+(coarse language, some violence and sex scenes)that is australian movie ratings.

"Good book", My teenagers were having problems finding the book in the stores, they enjoyed the Alien/Predator series.

"Good book", Minimum Maturity Level - Teen
Extreme violence and gore. Mild language.

Previous Reading Required - None
Seems to be the start of an epic series.

Reading Level - Average
Easy to keep up with.

Rate of Development - Average
Takes a bit to get background on the characters but not too long.

The Story - Good
Aliens found. A group of marines sent to destroy them. At the same time, a queen is brought to earth for study.

My Suggestion - Recommended
I liked this one. There is not much of a plot but its good action. It was a good story save for a few things. The ending was one of those preparing for a sequel endings so there was really no real climax to be found. The title of the book gave me the idea that it starts off as the earth is overrun but it seems like it only just tells the story of how it got overrun with a side quest being told with Wilks and Billie. I would recommend this but only if you plan on reading the sequels after.

"Earth Hives", This was a gift to a friend. He said it was quite good.

"Better than Alien vs. Predator", Having read all three installments of this series, I feel that the first book - Earth Hive - was the best. Since the movies all deal with faraway worlds and distant spaceships, choosing Earth as the setting of this book was a good, new angle for a novel. There is a really lurid enjoyment to seeing the places you visit get it (ala Independence Day).

Earth Hive focuses on a Marine named Wilkes and an escaped mental patient called Billie. Several subplots build the action, ranging from the marine squad sent to destroy the aliens' home planet to the arms dealers that see the aliens' as a potential weapon. As the title might imply, the Earth faces a danger of alien infestation.

The scenes are very reminiscent of the movie Aliens, and the characters could well be taken from that movie and dropped into this book without a problem. Perry uses some interesting presentation of the aliens in his book to make Earth Hive an enjoyable read. For a page or two, the book takes a documentary-like script to examining the aliens' biology. That can be a potentially dangerous plot device in a novel, but Perry pulled it off nicely. This book is what it is, and in that regard it succeeds. Three stars - average.

"GET IT", Very good alien novel that stays true to the ALIENS movie / colonial marines idea...

"Surprisingly good", Earth Hive, the beginning of Steve Perry's Aliens saga, is a surprisingly action packed read that carries the themes from the first two Alien films very nicely. The story centers around two survivors from a Xenomorph onslaught, Wilks and Billie (as one reviewer previously stated, this was originally based on further adventures of Hicks and Newt from Aliens, but when both characters were killed off in the Alien 3 film, Perry was forced to make some changes) and both are re-united as The Company once again attempts to bring the life form to Earth to use as a weapon. The action is nicely paced, but sometimes Perry's storytelling becomes uneven and blurred as if he is trying to keep a certain pace with himself. Other than that Earth Hive is a great read for fans of the Alien films and is full of shocks and plenty of surprises (including a twist climatic ending) that would lead into the next books in the series; Nightmare Asylum and Female War.

"Jimbob's review of Earth Hive", This was a terrific, thrilling, suspensful, and just flat out great book. I liked how there was four stories going on at once and how they all tied together. Earth hive did not have a happy ending like most books, but rather a twist. I like how Wilks adds humor and character to the story by not obeying anyone, breaking the rules, and having the readers respect. I also like how Massey added conflict, suspence, and a sense of no rules. The way that Steve Perry was able to keep the future technology realistic was another reason I liked this book so much. He kept the concepts and names of technology understadable unlike some of the science fiction books I've read. Earth hive is my favorite kind of book because it involves exploration of a dangerous world, future technology, action, and a twisted ending. "Then when the soilders come back- it will know their plans- it will be waiting." Page 277.
The theme of Earth Hive is that you should not interfere with nature. I disagree with this theme because even though terrable things can happen as a result of expirements, you learn from mistakes. This relates to me because I tried to shoot a water balloon over my house, but it misfired and blew the front window out. I learned to never try that again.
I would highly recomend this book to a person who likes action and has a strong stomach. It is pretty confusing in the beginning but it fits together in the middle. Steve did a terrific job and you'll be on the edge of your seat. Enjoy.

"A great way to start the alien novels", As my title implies, this should be the first book you read in the alien series. Earth Hive sets the stage for the two books that dirrectly follow it, Nightmare Asylum and the Female War, as well as every other alien book written by the other authors. In this book, explanation of how the Earth became completely overrun by the xenos is given. Remember the creature who became victom to the aliens in the first movie? The big elephant like creature in the chair abord the derelict spacecraft. Well this book goes into what he is and how their kind plays into this story. This is a great book, and should be read before any of the other alien books in my opinion.

"The Xeno-Decorum Guide", How could you make the Earth, a boring ball of green and blue, look a bit better? By bringing a Queen to Earth and then letting her get loose, that's how!
This interesting novel adaptation delves into the Earth of the future and, with the help of the gifted Steve Perry, it also shows how a powerful queen Alien could possibly affect the more unstable members of our communities. We are reintroduced to a theme common amongst Aliens titles, that of corporate, and even human, greed threatening the survival of humans. Only this time, it isn't a few people stranded on some forgotten colony or an obscure spacestation, its right here on Earth. From there, we are again given the theme of human arrogance once more, and get to see our heroes (the Aliens, of course) in a position that they haven't been in before. They are in position to keep their cupboards well-stocked and their cups running over.
This book is an excellent read, flowing from beginning to end, and opens the door to the other two pieces of this puzzle. It is something I would recommend very strongly.
