"LC's is an historical book.", This is not a complete review except to say that the descriptions of the game, while concise, are very easy to understand, logically presented, and yet are written in a wonderfully attractive and readable style. All include an illustration of the basic layout.

Some points:

1 The list of games in the current Amazon description page contain two completely different games per line, e.g. Labyrinth and Mount Olympus. The number of games actually totals forty-seven.

2 Lady Carogan's first edition was the first published English language compilation of solitaire games, probably from the 1860's. Second edition was 1874. The edition I have is the even later 1914 as reprinted 2007, the cover shows a bobbed hair flapper playing under a lamp.

Some of these 47 are special favorites of mine for the historical reason of being from the first (English) book, (although mine is a later edition of it- and is the only one I have looked inside of).

3 Amazon sells two Kindle versions right now, and I would guess that they are different editions. If they are, then I am not sure which is the older, having only seen one.



"Easy Read", I like the way this book explains the games. They are concise and the preface of the box gives a good description of the terms used to describe the games. This is nice to give you something to refer back to. Also, the illustrations of each layout is very nice.

"The New Testament for card players.", If According to Hoyle by Moorehead was card-game bible when I was a child, this book was certainly a new testament.

I really didn't fit in well with other kids, so I had nothing much to do. So, I studies solitaires. But I had 150 ways to play solitaire, and all that book did was confuse me.

When I found this book at KayBee many years ago, I was most impressed. It's the clearest book on cardgames that I have ever read. They're even thoughtful enough to create two games, Joker Klondike and Joker Canfield.

This book will clarify almost any game, and I still pull it down from the shelf. In fact, I think I'll pull it out right after I've finished posting.

"Pretty good", I bought this book so I could learn different ways to play solitaire. It has pictures and plenty of instructions. I do wish it had a few more pictures so I could see how they were saying to lay them out but all in all it is pretty good.
