"Awsome Vista Secrets", This is Paul's best book yet!! His eye for detail is unprecedented, I hope he keeps writing these books. If you want to know something about Vista, go no further.

"Usual Thurrott thoroughness", As has become the norm for Paul's work this is a very comprehensive, easy to read, reference on Vista. There is probably more information here than most will ever need but it is sure fun to explore.

"Good referance book", Even experienced users will find useful gems of knowledge in this users manual for Vista. As an experienced user myself I find it a good reference for some of the more obscure and/or little used features of Vista. For novice users the book is even more useful as it explains just about everything you will need to use Vista, in an easy to read format. It is the users manual Microsoft should have included with the operating system.I bought a used copy for $1.40, in perfect condition, at that kind of price you can't go wrong.


"Vista Secrets", This was a very good book and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about Vista. It has helped me a lot.

"Windows Vista Secriets", This book is a must for any user who wants to learn the ins and outs of the Vista Operating System. I had resisted Vista because I really like Windows XP Professional. I did not want the Aero interface because of the excessive hardware and video card requirements.

I waited and purchased a Compaq Presario C700 laptop with Windows Vista Basic and I really like the touch and feel of this operating system. Without the aero interface, Vista Basic is so similar to Windows XP Professional that the learning curve is greatly reduced. The book provided invaluable direction to disable those features you don't want and optimize the features you want.

This is a fantastic read!!

"Excellent Vista book", I was introduced to this book while listening to the Windows Weekly (TWiT) podcast with hosts Leo LaPorte and Paul Thurrott. Both Paul and Leo talk reference this book on occasion in the podcast. So I decided to purchase it and give it a read. This book is fantastic. Even though it is a book on Windows, it is very good to read. This book isn't necessarily designed for the absolute beginner. It is for the user that wishes to get a little closer and under the hood of Windows Vista. I do recommend this book those of you who wish to understand Vista more. I have learned a lot about Vista I didn't already know. There is a wealth of knowledge in this book. In fact, it has inspired me to purchase an additional book and seek a Vista certification.

"Encyclopedic!", If the information you are looking for does not appear in this book it probably does not exist. A monumental work.

"Ouch... not the book I was expecting", I bought this book because of Brian Livingston. I read his weekly ezine called Windows Secrets and have learned a lot from him and his cohorts over the years. After installing Windows' Vista I wanted to do so much more with it so I bought the book. After reading the entire thing, not one of my questions was answered. If you are looking for a book that just gives the highlights of Vista, buy the book. If your looking for a book that reveals the secrets of the techy side of things, keep looking.

"Don't waste your time", Poor writing. Missed all topices of interest while doing a poor job describing everything else. Feels like a rush job. Buy the Missing Manual instead.

"More answers than I had questions....", I loved it.... The book was a virtual Garden of Knowledge about the New OS, and a wonderful reference for finding info about just about anything one could want to know about Vista be it Basic or Ultimate.... and I loved the plentiful cross references in the book....

It was a pleseant experienace to see that the authors weren't afraid to give their opinion of features be they good or bad....
