"This has really help this dummy!"
I am new to all this ipod stuff. This book has a lot of info for folks like me. I've impressed my kids with what I know, they don't think I'm such a dork now! LOL

"Dummies books are great"
The instructions that came with the iPod are obviously for experienced users. I bought my iPod for the space and had never used any kind of mp3 player before. The dummies book was a great help and has taught me little tricks in addition to everyday use.

"Dummies to the rescue"
I was ready to get rid of my iPod. I was totally frustrated with trying to use it and iTunes was driving me nuts. Finally, I bought this book and all came clear. This should be the manual included with every iPod purchase. The book is well thought out and laid out well. One will easily be able to use this as a reference in the future if need be. If you are about ready to tear your hair out, just want to perhaps learn a few more advanced techniques or you just want a good solid manual for your investment, this is the book for you. What more can I say?

"fabulous"
As a true IPOD "dummy", never having ever touched an IPOD before I bought my nano, I found this book helpful. It is for those looking for basic and intermediate levels of usage on their IPODs. It doesn't help those who want more advanced direction, but there are other books for that. Overall, it is worth the price.

"A waste of money"
I was very disappointed by the deficiencies of this book. First, it focuses far more on iTunes shopping and related procedures than on basic use of the iPod itself. iTunes is hopelessly limited for anyone not into popular culture, so that half of the book is worthless to me. Second, the book is useless as a reference tool -- not a single question I've had has been answered, or if the answer is there, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Example: I wasted a lot of time trying to get an audiobook I own on CD to go into the Audiobook section of the iPod menu. I finally learned from a Genius at the local Apple store that only audiobooks purchased from iTunes will go into that section of the menu. Try finding that information in this book. Third, terms are used as they are understood by the technorati, but never defined for the rest of us. If I wanted a book that told me how to get my iPod to tap dance and butter my toast, I would not have bought one with a title which indicates it deals with basic information. That information isn't here.

"Not up-to-date", This book (the 6th edition, that is) was published on the heels of Apple's recent updating of the iPod line with the new Nanos and Touches. I naively assumed that the timing was so that it could have the very latest info about the newest iPods. Not so. It refers to the pudgy third gen Nano as the latest thing. There's still a lot of good content here, but it is not as current as you might want.

"Does the job", I always thought I was tech savvy, but after getting a Touch and trying to set it up with my old cds, I found myself struggling. This book helped me get my head wrapped around the concepts of iTunes and the iPod. I'm still having problems ripping cds, especially compilations or collections and it hasn't answered that issue. I still have multiple albums in my library that hold the songs of an individual artist on a compilation album and I can't seem to get them back together under one album. Its a minor frustration so far. As a general primer for someone trying to learn the iTunes and iPod universe it does a fine job.

"Newer Edition Out with DVD", Five weeks after this 6th edition came out, the publisher came out with the iPod & iTunes For Dummies, DVD + Book Bundle (Dummies), which includes the same book seen here, but also a DVD tutorial, for the same price.

"Good reference book, helped me get started", I bought the book to help me get started using the ipod, and it did just that. I couldn't have figured out how to use it without the book or an experienced user (which I didn't have at hand). The book did the job.

"Great Overview of iPod & iTunes", This is the second edition of this series that I have bought. The Dummies series is excellent for their easy to read, fun and informative explanations of tech subjects. Although I am a tech geek, I do enjoy this series for coverage of little know features in iTunes. Apple does a great job on its products, but doesn't give a lot of information on using them. I was looking to buy my first iPod and I love the coverage of each of the iPod family, their features and how they work with iTunes. This is the new edition of this series, but it was published before the latest change to iPods and iTunes came out. They should be covered in the next version. Therefore you will not see any coverage if the 2nd generation iPod Touches or iPhones and iTunes 8 with the Genius feature and App Store. Some of the preferences were changed in iTunes, but otherwise you can still find most of the settings and features mentioned. There are step by step instructions for how to set up accounts and use the iTunes store to your liking and syncing your iPod and/or iPhone. The suggestions for music listed in the book constantly relate to the sixties. That could be left out, I do not like it when authors try to tell you what music to listen to. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because some of the more in-depth explanations and information found in previous editions were left out of this book and placed on a companion website, free to purchasers of the book.

"Okay, but not that great.", Does an okay job of explaining how to use the iPod and iTunes. In many cases, though, terms were just dropped into the text without any explanation of what they meant. Also, it read like a description of how things worked rather than guiding you on how to meet your needs (e.g., "Here's how rack-and-pinion steering works and here's how recirculating-ball steering works." That's great, but what I really want to know is: Which is better for me?).

Haven't read any other books on the topic, but I'm hoping there's something better out there.

"Ipod & ITunes For Dummies", This reference book is very informative and answers most questions you might have about the subject.

"iPod & iTunes For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))", received product in record time. Product was received as described

"iPod for Dummies", As usual, this addition to the "Dummies" series is fantastic. I can make my iPod do things that I never knew were possible. The trouble shooting is a life saver!

"i pod & i Tunes for Dummies", I am a first time I pod owner. My children had to teach me a lot of things to get started, but even they haven't been able to tell me all I want to know. This book has been a big help.
