Others say...
"Great for reference but also filling in holes." I found it very useful for filling in holes I had with Solid works primarily design tables and some basic programming. It is useful but not terribly detailed. It covers a lot and not much of that a lot in detail.
"where is my book?" I haven't received the SolidWorks Bible yet, thouhg I have it ordered one month ago. I am still waiting my book
"Not good as it look at firt sight" This book has pictures that create the illusion that you are going to learn all of that model and at the end it doesn't show you the way step by step to make those models.
"By far, the best SolidWorks book Available" By far, this has to be the best SolidWorks book out there. Believe me; I am a Mechanical Engineer and a seasoned SolidWorks user. I have purchased several other instructional books on SolidWorks and very few delivered the information in a well structured manner. Lombard's book is well written and very well organized. The book is written both for the beginner and those who have been using SolidWorks for a while. Everybody can learn from Lombard's book. Bottom line is this: If Lombard was to write another book for SolidWorks 2008, I would definitely buy it.
"2nd Year Book" Very highly recommended...getting useful information on when best to use the myriad of methods available to model/assemble is usually trial and error and this book offers that advice without you living the pain of going down the wrong path. This is the advice I paid for when ordering this book--and it was delivered on almost every page I've read so far.
That being said...don't order this book as your FIRST resource on SW, but as a complement to existing material. My recommendation is that this is for those who have 6 months of experience or are converts from other 3D software--for those looking to efficiently increase their skill level.

What our customer's say!
"My Most Useful SolidWorks Resource", Of all of the books I have read and forums I have visited regarding SolidWorks information this is the most comprehensive and easy to use that I have found. Incidentally, it was also one of the most affordable on Amazon at the time. Matt's writing style in this manual is very similar to his blog ([...]- also a useful resource) in that it is not technically written, so its not a bore to read. Even if you have experience with SolidWorks it can be helpful just give the chapters that cover material you already know a quick gander. There is some info there that may assist in helping make your SolidWorks experience more efficient and/or less painful. This bok is great for the novice to intermediate user. This book makes a great desk reference. I plan on getting the companion book on Surface Modeling soon.
"A joke for both", My company purchased this book for our Reference library about a year ago with two others. This REFERENCE book is ineffective if you want to understand or learn SolidWorks for "any" user. The book is filled with the author's opinions, poor jokes, and few examples. There is little time spent with the basics or explaining why or how to apply concepts. A trouble shooting section is desperately needed with this style of writing. As a mechanical engineer, I can truly say the book reads between a comic book and Mark's handbook with few benefits.
I googled the author and located his blog. He stated, "First, I am not an educator, and I do not write text books." He can say that again! This is a mammoth book with a lot of information taken from the SolidWorks Help section, snips of blogs, user groups, etc. The binder is falling apart, and I'm the second one to use the book. I guess it is who you know, not what you know for the positive reviews on this book.
"Fills in the spaces", As many have already stated, this is not really a "how to" book in that it rarely shows you how to use the features of SW. But what it is good at is "filling in the blanks" where the "official" SW VAR training leaves you in the dark; it explains more on methodology and gives you an overview on why you should do things "this way" or "that way", such as whether you should use a Sweep feature or a Loft feature, what the Flex feature is really meant for, and so on. This book is just another piece to the puzzle on making the most in the use of SW.
"Excellent", The book looks nice but I haven't found enough time to read it. Overall it is good for any one who is in starting phase or in the middle.
Other good thing is they send me free mac coupons.
Thanks.
"Not worth the time or paper", The description of the book states: "The most complete resource for SolidWorks on the market. Matt Lombard's in-depth knowledge plus his snappy wit and wisdom make SolidWorks accessible to users at all levels."
Sheer size with bad wit does not make a book good. It shows for this book!
The book is fragmented, poorly explained, written, and illustrated, with a mound of tips that look like they came from various SW User groups.
As a new 3D CAD user and a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years in industry, it did not help, nor would it help if I was not a new user.
The book was not recommended by my local SW VAR, I know now and I should have listened!!!!

Read this reviews before You buy...
"For the price, this is the book to get", I am a college student in Computer Aided Design Engineering A.A.S. I really wasn't required to purchase a book, but I purchased this one. College books are expensive, but for the price of this book I got more than if I would have went for a hands on college book. It includes a CD/DVD with all of the tutorial files and, this book is very thorough. It is the best one I could find.
"If it is not here, you don't need it!", From a ten year SolidWorks User: Matt Lombard has done an awesome job of laying SolidWorks out where a user at any level can profit greatly by USING his book. The more that you learn, the more there is for you. This is not a fiction novel, you will use the index and directories a lot. If you are not interested in HOW TO.... or another way to do IT, don't bother with this book.
"Some help, not a good topical reference book", If you have time to sit down and read this book, it is probably quite helpful for intermediate to advanced users, but nobody I know working on SolidWorks has time to read 1100 pages looking for useful hints. It is not a good quick reference book.
I'm sorry to read in other reviews that this book is not really for beginners, because now I don't know who it is good for. There are pages and pages of mundane explanations about toolbars and very basic topics, but this information is much easier learned either at a VAR class or poking around on your own.
But have a more involved question like, how do I change the default view orientations of a part? The index is quite useless, since it only has the names SW assigns to various topics, and if you do know to look up 'View Orientation' the only topic covered is for drawings. I have found this problem with more than half of the topics I have tried looking up: basic information that you don't need a book for, and less help than the SW help file on more challenging topics. An unfortunate waste of $40.
"Experts only", This book does not walk the user through many things, it just assumes that you know how to use all of the tools. The approach is a little too technical. This book is for user that already has a lot of experience. At nearly 1100 pages this book seems impressive, but if you're looking for step by step help get Solidworks For Dummies.
"Not for everyday usage ", We share this book in our office. It is used mainly as a paper weight. It does a good job in providing quick tips on high level features and applications, but does not provide useful models nor references to everyday or mid level usage. Some of the models are from the SW help files. The book provides screen shots of various PropertyManagers, but not for every document type or configuration. Poor quality of illustrations! Strong in some areas, very weak in others; namely at the entry level.
This is the only book that I know which is out there which addresses Advance features. The index is intense.
We lost the included CD and were not able to obtain an extra CD from the publisher. It is not worth the price of the book to obtain a second CD.
