"AMAZING!!! 5 STARS"
How do you stop an entire country from dying by a deadly chemical? 2 words, Sam Fisher. Splinter Cell Fallout by Tom Clancy and David Micheals is an action-packed novel! This is a mystery novel for anyone who wants a thrilling book! This book is my favorite book and could be yours also! There are surprises around every corner. This book takes place in the Middle East, Far East, and the US. It is around 2010 when this all happens so it is for more of the futuristic readers.

Colonal Irving Lambert is Sam's leader and a close friend of his. Anna Grimsdottir is another one of Sam's workers and is a good friend also. This is written in third person so when it says Fisher it means Sam.

"A Decent Read for What It Is"
Fallout is an improvement on "David Michaels"'s previous effort, Checkmate. While not quite up to par with the first two Splinter Cell novels by Raymond Benson, Fallout is still an enjoyable read.

Unlike in Checkmate, the stakes as the book begin are relatively low; only as Sam Fisher digs deeper into a suspicious death is the real threat revealed. At the same time, the final stakes are higher than they've been before; where earlier Splinter Cell tales had Sam chasing after "mere" weapons of mass destruction, the biological weapon herein threatens not people, but their way of life.

If the book suffers from anything, it's that it tries to set the stakes too high. Too many people know about the Splinter Cells, about Sam, and about the events that are happening. The operations are hardly "covert" anymore. (Checkmate wasn't much better in this regard.)

Still, despite Sam's ventures away from the shadows and into the limelight, Fallout was a fun read. If Checkmate didn't put you off the series—or maybe even if it did—I'd recommend it.

"Splinter Cell:Fallout a Review"
First off to all the reviews befoe me who moaned and groaned that Tom Clancy should be shamed to have this with his name on it. That is bull, look this aint a perfect book i will give you that. It doesn't compare to the first two but one thing it does is improve on Checkmate. Secondly the whole cafeeine thing was to keep his cover intact. No offesne but no one is going to motice a guy drinking a soda but will notice a guy drinking a healthy drink. Although some of the devices in the book as with the others do seem out there like the ASE(All seeing EYE). Another thing is that the weapon in the book does seem a little farfetched but the reality of something similar happening makes the book close to reality. I believe that this book is a good book and one to add to your collection if you like Tom Clancy or the game Splinter Cell. It fleshes out a story many dont see in the games, the character story.

Pros Sticks to the material, good plot, nice action and suspense. Events seem Plausible under differnet circumstances.
Cons weapons seem out there sometimes, some of the characters dont seem believeable, Sam does things he wouldn't have done in the first set of novels.

Verdict
OK read

"very dissappointing"
Sadly, this book was a complete joke compared to the others in the series. I'm pretty sure the new author (though his name remains David Michaels) has never read the previous books in the series and I am suggesting to him that if you can't live up to the Splinter Cell name, don't disgrace the series with your ridiculous writing. The change from first person to third completely killed the series' personality and the bond the reader formed with Sam. Same is no longer himself, as others have mentioned, and has a sudden addiction to coffee when before he wouldn't drink it if his life depended on it. The biggest let down has been the loss of character personality. The personalities are not built up at all, and the characters are more like robots than anything else. Also, yes, the book was actioned packed; there was never a dull moment; but it was almost like there was too much action...and nothing ever went wrong...every mission was perfect. Lastly, some descriptions of events and places were so poorly written that trying to imagine them completely took your mind out of the book and left you struggling to figure out what he was talking about. The only positive: it says Splinter Cell on the cover.

What our customer's say!

"An Alright Action Story", The book was an interesting action story with a very interesting if theoretical plot but several typos were somewhat annoying. Fortunately, the book was not in the first person present again. Very high intensity but otherwise blends together with the rest of the Splinter Cell books and leaves little lasting impression.

"Entertaining", The writing good. The story-line is entertaining enough to make the book worth buying. It was not as good as the previous titles. Sam is a great character. I hope to see Splinter Cell books.

"Great story after being a game fan.", I've been a long time fan of the Splinter Cell games but this was the first book I've read relating to the character. It was really an exciting and gripping storyline full of interesting twists and exotic locations. You could imagine playing as the character, sneaking into highly secure residences and playing with new cutting edge electronic toys while at the same time invisibly saving the world. You feel right in the scene when five North Koreans are walking towards your flipped Jeep with assault rifles at the ready and you have to act. It was great to combine my love of the games (not Double Agent) with the enjoyment of reading.

"Splinter Cell -Tom Clancy", This is the first and last time I will use Amazon and pay full list price.

"Amazing, just like the others in the series.", Truly a wonderful book. Keeps you glued to the pages chapter after chapter. Great story line, too!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great Book!", It was a very good book, anyone who enjoys the Ryanverse/Splinter Cell books would enjoy it.

"Errors Galore!", Clancy should be either horrified or ashamed that this incredibly bad book was published under his name. Want an example of what to expect if you buy this book? Here goes. Do not purchase this book, simply go to a bookstore and find the paperback version, turn to page 53, and read about Legard's 300,000 square foot mansion. 300,000 sq. ft.! Wow! That's got to be a world record. Nor is it a simple typo, a slip of the finger while typing zeros; it's spelled out: "three hundred thousand square feet." But it gets worse. This monstrous mansion sits on just ten acres of ground (as we learn in the same sentence). The mansion itself is (for those of us who can manage the rather simple calculation) 6.89 acres in size. Doesn't leave much ground around it, does it? You'd be surprised. Our "hero," who certainly deserves quotes around that dubious appellation, arrives at a ten-foot fence that surrounds the estate, climbs a tree to look over, and finds (last paragraph on page 63) that the mansion is "perhaps four miles away." Think about that. A house sits on ten acres, and is four miles from the fence around the property. We can reasonably assume that, in the absence of any other information, the house is in the middle of the property, so the fence is four miles from the house in all directions, which would be a circle with a diameter of eight miles, which would then enclose 50 square miles, or 32000 acres. So why does the "author" (in quotes, as is the "hero") tell us the mansion sits on ten acres? Because he doesn't have a clue, that's why, and if you now buy this book after reading this review I suspect it's because you don't much care what you read. What I don't get is why Clancy would allow his name on a POS like this. Or maybe he doesn't care, because the dollars just keep on rolling in and he's too busy laughing all the way to the bank. But he could at least replace this particular "David Michaels" (the actual author of the book, in case you didn't know; this book has nothing at all to do with Clancy except for his entirely fictitous name prominently misplaced on the front cover) with someone who can add two and two and get four. The actual author needs to quit pretending to be a writer and do something useful, like waiting tables at Denny's.

"Review of Fallout", First of all, I find it very sad that some people don't do their homework before writing a review.

The fact that someone who claims to be a "fan" of "David Michaels" is hilarious since "David Michaels" is a pseudonym. It's also sad that someone would give a book as good as this a bad review for differing styles between the books when they were written by different people.

Get a clue, please.

I want to start by giving this David large amount of credit for being interactive with the Splinter Cell fan community. Three characters, Robert Robertson, Aly Wallace and Jackie Fiest are all named after real Splinter Cell fans. Very few authors are that interactive with their readers and "David" should be commended.

Second of all, the books situation with oil is something I have yet seen done in any entertainment medium. While I don't read a lot of military fiction, this is the first time I've seen that and enjoyed the idea. I don't know if something of that nature really exists, but if it did it would surely cause a world wide panic, especially if it ended up in the wrong hands. "David" did a good job of telling an exciting story and bringing back Sam's sense of humor and wit that has made him the fascinating character that he is.

Good work, Sir.

"A New World Of Fears, A New Type Of Hero", With scenes and situations which parallel the world issues of today, this well-paced, action-adventure turns the 353 pages by itself.

Author David Michaels does stumble a bit on the ending - it is typical fare for this genre. But the main character, Third Echelon special operative Sam Fisher, works well, since his work is based on technological and human elements, and not slickly destroying the bad guys through "superhuman" feats.

Part of an ongoing series featuring Fisher, it is enjoyable without the background from the other books or from playing the bestselling Splinter Cell video games.

"Great Action-Adventure!", I love the Splinter Cell games and was reluctant to try the books because I was afraid they wouldn't even come close to how much I enjoyed the games. But I decided to give it a try and *I'm so glad I did*. Theres cover to cover action, and the hero, Sam Fisher, is a blast to follow. If you're a fan of the games and you love fiction, you'll love this.

** And even if you haven't played the games, it's just a great action-adventure book all by itself.**
