"If it were half as long it might have been twice as good"
I am a long time Catherine Coulter fan although I've found her books of late to be disappointing. Perhaps it's time for her to move to stand alone's as her primary characters have become tired. The dialog is very like, book to book, though not as continually cutsey as some in the recent past, "hey and but hey" over and over for instance. This story was, overall, boring and predictable, way too long, too many characters, and while I don't expect characters in a novel to necessarily be life like, it is basically a romance after all, those in this plot weren't even slightly interesting. It seems as if she's just riding on the coattails of her long years of success and her editors as well. This plot had potential, but quickly bogged down. Along the way she took a couple of swipes at NPR which I find kind of strange because I listen to it a great deal and have always found them to bend over backward to be even handed, in direct opposition to most radio stations, or perhaps she's simply pushing her own political agenda.

"Tail Spin"
Catherine Coulter is all ways a winner. I love her FBI thrillers. She has me hooked and I can't wait for the next one.

"So bad..."
This book was so bad that I had to get out of bed after I finished reading it to write this review.

The first two-thirds of the book was so slow and boring I almost put it down. Wish I had.

Then, for a moment of time, it was okay. I almost cared about the characters and the outcome.

Shortly thereafter, I wanted to ask the author if she considered working at Burger King because being an author certainly does not seem to be her area of expertise.

The plot went from dull to outlandish. The facts were distorted. (A Cessna, with a bomb on board would not simply crash land. It would be blown to smithereens and would not be survivable.)

To be honest and fair, this is the first book I've read by this author. And the last.

I purchased the book because I am a pilot, and the name/photo caught my attention. (So much for great marketing!) The write-up was intriguing. The fact that it was a best-seller, sold me.

But I've learned my lesson, for sure. Sometimes best-sellers are simply very well marketed.

"another smash hit"
Catherine Coulter's FBI series never disappoints me. Once again she has hit the heart of her writing talents with suspense, twists and a touch of romance. What I really like most is that she focuses on her characters and develops them well, so that when you are finished reading this book you are left with wanting more about them and eagerly waiting her next book. Savich and Sherlock are a dynamic pair and ones that you are always rooting for to crack the case. When reading Tailspin I couldn't put it down plus it grabbed me on the very first page. Keep writing this series Catherine and I am anxiously awaiting your next one.

What our customer's say!

"Thin plot terrible dialogue", I always love these stories but found this one to be overly contrived and totally unbelievable. The dialogue was poorly done and the character of Rachel was so self-assured I am not sure why she needed the FBI's help. During the gunfight at Slipper Hollow one character actually "laughed" as
he scooted along the floor to go get his gun...come on now you can do better than this. I did not finish the book.

"Great Service", Product arrived in condition stated and in a timely manner. Would definitely buy from this seller again.

"Tailspin", This is one of Catherine Coulter's better Savich/Sherlock stories, I was so interested in it, I read it in two sittings, the only reason it took two was because I started too late in the day to finish it in one!!!! I hope she continues to write these stories, I always look forward to them.

"It was...okay", I've been a fan of Catherine's FBI series for quite some time now. I own every book of the series and have loved them all. However this newest edition to the series is lukewarm at best. I loved the interaction between Sherlock and Savich, as I always do, but the rest of the characters were boring and not developed enough. I couldn't stand the heroine, Rachel, and the most of the new characters. The plot was slow and I was disappointed to know I really didn't care to see how it ended. I did finish it though and it was as dull as I expected it to be. I felt like she stringed everything together too quickly at the end and there was little suspense.

What I love about Catherine's writing is she usually paints a vivid picture in each book of the beautiful scenery and the colorful locals. Such as San Francisco in "Point Blank". But in this book she did a poor job painting the background. Washington DC is a wonderful city and she could have used it a lot more in the story, as well as the small towns in Virginia and Kentucky.

I will continue to buy Catherine's FBI books because I can't get enough of Sherlock and Savich but here's to hoping the plots and characters in the next stories are more developed and entertaining!

"Tailspin", Adequately written - actually, I think FBI series is getting a bit old - suggest Ms Coulter try something else.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Tail Spin", The book was very easy to read. Once you start it is hard to put down

"Lukewarm", I agree with another reviewer - that the story was luke warm. I hope she can do better with her next book. I was always a fan - but may not buy a hardbook next time and wait for it to come out in a second hand bookshop.

"Just like every other Coulter FBI Thriller", I enjoyed this book. However, by the 12th book FBI book, they all start to merge together in my brain. Something bad happens to a 28 year old woman. She needs or finds a 34 year old male FBI agent to babysit and protect her. Said FBI agent calls in Savich and Sherlock (who have become stale characters, by now). Damsel in distress and FBI agent go through a great traumatic experience together and then get married. There you go, that sums up all the Catherine Coulter FBI thriller novels.

Plus, Catherine Coulter needs a new editor. Her books lack a great deal of continuity and the editing is terrible. Sherlock's real name is spelled differently in about every other book. At one time, Sherlock was a tall woman. Now, she's very petite. I guess CC never expected the first books to lead anywhere, so why bother continuing with what she had written in the first place.

"FBI ROMANCE THRILLER", Predictable story line and part of the classic FBI series - I enjoyed very much as a summer read.

"Disappointing is the best I can say about this one", Wow, I was really disappointed with this book. I love Catherine Coulter and I really enjoy the FBI series but I did not end this book with a smile like I have with all the previous books. I like reading romantic thrillers because you get the best of both worlds but this book didn't really provide either. Where was the romance in this book? I kept waiting for it and it never happened. The ending was disappointing as well. There was too much droning on and on. She should have spent more time developing the main characters instead of going on and on about why the bad guy did the bad thing. Since all the other books have been good, I will buy the next book when it comes out, but if it's like this one, it will be the last. If you're thinking about buying this one, don't. Check it out from the library if you really want to read it.
