"Hey! It is classic Nora Roberts" Since Nora Roberts has become such a prolific writer (don't know how she does it!), I am glad that she has apparently divided her efforts into different classes of books, ie: Robb-futuristic mysteries; NR-romance with a twist of mystery or fantasy and last but not least, the classic NR romance of which Tribute is one. You have a little bit of everything with this one, action, romance, mystery and a few surprises in the end. But as far as I am concerned there is no one better than NR when it comes to filling out her characters from their weaknesses to their strengths and how they always manage to grow with each page. If you like Nora Roberts, you will love this book.
"It really did read like an episode of Tim Allen's old show. " I'm not sure what to say about this book, it's definitely Nora Roberts but didn't read like a traditional Nora Romance. This book came paired with the Historical Romance: Fates (Amazon exclusive), and, well, I thought this too, would be a Romance, at least suspense filled, but alas, no. The story is based around a former child star named Cila who is trying to come to grips with her new life and leave her old one behind. A romance forms between Cila and Ford. Ford is the nice guy next door type who can be a bit annoying at times. So we have the quintessential free spirit and the puppet falling in love. I can't say there was anything I would point my finger at that I didn't like (I gave it 4-stars) It's just the overall Nora experience wasn't there. But I would vote for Spock as best supporting actor (those who read it know what I mean) I'd also have to recommend the historical novel that came paired with it by Georgiou Tino: The Fates Fates (Amazon exclusive)
"Bob Villa/This Old House with a bit of romance thrown in" Boring. I too had a HARD time getting through this. It was a chore. I guess I might have learned quite a bit about restoring a house if I'd actually paid close attention to that drawn out part of the story. Oh, and can't forget the graphic novel descriptions. I found the whole premise of the story - the Janet Hardy mystery to be totally dull and I really couldn't care less what happened so many years before. It was simply drawn out, way out and it got old fast for me.
The characters were 2 dimensional. They all talked alike (as is NR's routine these days in her books), so the character development or personalities didn't come out. Ford was supposed to be a nerd, but talked 'cool' like everyone else. Lots of slang. I'm married to a nerd and have known many. They don't talk like Ford. His speech patterns were not any different than Cilla's. AND CAN SHE POSSIBLY WRITE A BOOK WITH COMPLETE SENTENCES, USING 'the's, 'a's', pronouns, etc??? It is unnatural for everyone in a book to speak like that.
I did like Spock, the dog. He was the best character in the book.
I used to be a huge NR fan. I've read nearly all her books. I think this book will have to be the last one for me. I have tired of her, I guess. She doesn't write the way she used to. Some people will argue that it's natural for her writing to evolve and change, but give me the old great Nora Roberts books. Those were great romances. I, myself, don't care for her new writing style she has adopted.
So, obviously I don't recommend this book and I got it from the library.
"What Happened to NR?" I have been reading this book for almost 2 weeks (more than twice the time it usually takes me to read one of NR's books), and I still cannot get through it. I usually love her books, but this one is nowhere near as good as it could be. There is a lot of potential in this story, but it is being underutilized. The characters are likable, but the plot is slow a molasses. Honestly, the best part so far has been realizing that one of the characters is named Tom Morrow (hahaha)...which is when I keep telling myself I will finish this book, even though it hasn't happened yet.
If you are a die hard NR fan and absolutely must read this book, either borrow it from the library or wait until it comes out in paperback. It isn't worth the money spent on it.
"Blah and Boring" I have been a longtime and huge Nora fan. But this recent release is lackluster, blah and boring. I would not recommend it to anyone. Will the Real Nora Roberts please come back? Or have you used yourself up?

What our customer's say!
"You folks were great.", As usual, you were great. 100 stars. Oh wait, I forgot. Only 5. Well, store the other 95 for use when needed.
"Tribute", Nora Roberts can truly keep a page turning! I was engaged from start to finish!
"Disappointed", I have been a Nora Roberts fan since the beginning of her career, and it really pains me to say that "Tribute" is just plain blah. I kept thinking it would get better, but it didn't. It's readable, but I really didn't care if I finished it or not. I thought the ex-husband character was much more interesting than the "hero". Cilla, the heroine, just never became real to me at all. I like to care about at least one character in a book, but the characters were just not interesting to me. I was amazed that the book rated 4 stars.
"Not her best or even close to mediocore.", I was really excited to start this book because the blurb made it sound very promising. In fact, I read 120 pages on my first night, but not because it was interesting. I read 120 pages hoping it would get better, but it actually only got worse. Ford and Cilla's relationship seemed to move too fast and too slow at the same time. The dream sequences between Cilla and her grandmother were odd, almost as if Roberts decided to throw them in there just for the hell of it. I say they are odd because Cilla never met her grandmother, who died long before Cilla was born, and the dream sequences were rather pointless and unnecessary to the main plot. Overall, too much description about flipping houses. I feel like I can go out for my contractor's license now that I've read this book...
"A good story!", I really enjoyed this book. Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors. The only reason that I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is that some parts were pretty predictable and I figured out who the killer was halfway through the book, but it is still an enjoyable read.

"Tribute", Great book...Nora Roberts has achieved another good read. The characters are super and all intertwined which makes everyone a good suspect. The past mystery, linked with the present day incidents, increases the intensity of the question of who is doing and possibly did this to her and her family.
"Will the real Nora please stand up!", Whatever happened to Nora Roberts? The lady who writes the JD Robb stories and other sizzling romances and mysteries? I certainly couldn't find any trace of her in "Tribute." I think Nora was trying to channel Eve Dallas into Cilla, what with her sarcasm and attempts at dry humor, but it didn't work. She was boooooring. And her neighbor was almost like a caricature: handsome, charming, sexy, well-off, sensitive, and understanding. He seemed as fake as Cilla. And the mystery?!? Who cares? This book seemed like something Nora had to write to meet a quota of books and she wasn't much interested in it. I couldn't even finish the book I found it so boring. Why were these people in love? Because the book had to have a romance so.............. And why was Cilla's ex-husband in the book? He had no real impact on the story. And I couldn't stand how mushy Cilla was when Steve got hurt. If she loved him so much and was so hysterical when he was hurt, why didn't she stay with him? Sorry Nora, but the next time, I think I'll get your latest from the library so I won't be stuck with an expensive, boring, hardback. Nora, Nora, please come back.
"A Step in the Right Direction", It seems that Nora Roberts "might" be getting back to normal with this newest book. Tribute is a straightforward romance with a small mystery built-in. It stays away from the supernatural (mostly), the demonic/spellcasting, and Ireland. Thankfully, Roberts has offered a mainstream book worth reading - which, in my opinion, she hasn't in quite some time. The story is that Cilla McGowan has returned to her roots in Virginia after spending many years under the spotlight in Hollywood. She is drawn to the land in Virginia and the restoration of a farmhouse that has been in her family for decades. Across the road is her sexy, but very nerdy, neighbor, Ford Sawyer. Ford, and the story, is very easygoing and Roberts does a nice job of introducing us to some neighborhood residents and offering a look back at Cilla's life. As she repairs the farmhouse she also repairs rifts in her family, and follows the mystery of her aunt's alleged suicide. The mystery isn't terribly engaging but it didn't matter, because I was contented to read about Ford and Cilla and their burgeoning relationship. I'd recommend the book, especially for fans who've wanted a return to the 'old' Nora Roberts.
"Excellent Romantic Suspense", Cilla McGowan has spent her life living in the shadow of her famous movie star grandmother, Janet Hardy. The legendary actress had purchased a small farm in Virginia where she would go to unwind, but it was also the site of glittering parties and the place where she died of an overdose. Now Cilla, herself a former child star, has decided to settle in one place and start her own contracting business flipping houses. The place she has chosen is Janet Hardy's Little Farm, which is in dire need of a rehab. She camps in one of the bedrooms and begins the process of remodeling the once graceful old house. Across the street, in a restored Victorian, is Cilla's sexy neighbor, graphic novelist Ford Sawyer. Ford introduces himself to Cilla when he asks for permission to use her image for a new superhero. Cilla is at first put off, and then intrigued by the idea, and also by Ford himself, and his little dog Spock.
Also intriguing is the hidden cache of old letters Cilla finds in the attic that were written to Janet by an unnamed lover. At first, the letters were full of ardor, which then cooled and turned to anger and disgust. The last one alludes to Janet being pregnant, which is a revelation, as no one had known she was pregnant when she died, presumably by her own hand. It leaves Cilla to wonder if perhaps Janet's death was helped along by her lover, a theory bolstered somewhat by Cilla's vivid dreams about Janet in the past. After she carelessly discusses her theories with Ford where any number of workmen could have overheard, Cilla and her home are plagued by vandalism, and her ex-husband, who is a dear friend, is viciously attacked one night in her barn. She has a suspect, a bitter old man whose son was paralyzed in the same accident that took the life of Cilla's uncle Johnny, Janet's son, a few months before Janet's death. Not quite everything fits so neatly with that theory, however, and until Cilla and Ford can figure out who Janet's mystery lover was, anyone and anything close to Cilla isn't safe, most especially Cilla herself.
Nora Roberts is a talented author who can write entertaining books of many types, and this time out she has chosen to weave a rich tapestry of a story with an emphasis on home and family, with intrigue driving the story. Cilla's relationship with Ford, while crackling with sexual electricity, is comfortable and relaxed, and their friends and various family members are an integral part of their lives. Delivering a story both gripping and cozy, Nora Roberts easily retains her place at the top in women's fiction.
"TRIBUTE by Nora Roberts", I love a good Nora Roberts book and this one didn't disappoint me. I love the theme she built this story around. The restoration of a vintage home was great. I was a bit disappointed in the ending of the novel, it seemed a bit abrupt I was hoping that maybe because of the ending it would lead to another story set in this town???? It was refreshing to read a book with a bit of a different premise and as always I thought I knew who the bad guy was but Nora Roberts keep me guessing right to the end! Tribute
