"photoshop & photography", This book is fairly comprehensive with regard to content on enhancing photos using photoshop techniques.
I definitely would recommend this guide for both beginning and advanced photoshop CS3 users.

"Quality Content", I enjoyed this book very much. I am a novice photographer (2 years exp) but an long time photoshop user (7+ years). I wanted to take my photos to the next level in post but I typically ended up with a great photo more by accident than by design. I wanted to be able to *really* know how to get a certain effect or look without having to fiddle around for an hour.

The book is bound very well. For such a large volume with a paper spine, it has held up remarkably. That said, I am considering having the chapters spiral-bound separately because the book doesn't lay down flat very well.

"Amazing PhotoShop Resource", This is a very comprehensive, easy to follow Photoshop CS3 resource. Being a photographer, I especially like that it focuses (excuse the pun) on those features of CS3 that pertain to photography. The accompanying DVD is a plus that includes video tutorials, source photos for the examples as well as valuable chapters and charts from previous versions of the book that were too big to include in print. I have been going thru the chapters sequentially, but it's an easy task to go to any section and be immediatly productive.

"Great Photographer's Photoshop Book", This is one of my favorite Photoshop CS3 books; I have quite a few. The quality of the book is excellent and I have learned so much from the lessons. The book comes with a very good DVD that makes this book an outstanding value. I have read some of the bad reviews. I think they expected a "dummies" or "beginners" type book. This is for a photographer who wants to get the most out of Adobe Photoshop. You can tell that Mr. Evening came from a photography background. Is this book a bit on the complex side? Sure. But I already know Photoshop basics and I did not want a rehash. That is why I highly recommend this book.

"Comprehensive", Martin Evening's guide to a better understanding of that indespensable piece of software, Photoshop CS3, is indeed very good and very comprehensive. Not many aspects of set up, adjustments, editing, or indeed any other action you take is left uncovered by this volume. As opposed to other reviewers I don't find the text lenghty or incomprehensible, but rather on the spot and easily accessible. The pedagogical way of colourcoding shortcuts for both Mac and PC makes it easy to find and use these, thus increasing your editing efficiency.

This book can be used as a sort of encyclopedia, looking up solutions for problems whenever you encouter such, or it can be read from cover to cover, which ,dull and trying it may be just because of the sheer quantity of information in there, I would recommend. It does give a nice, comprehensive, and effective overlook of Photoshop for any digital photographer.

Highly recommendable.

" Average Tutorial NOT good for beginners",
I am new to Photoshop and I was hoping that this would be the perfect book to teach me the fundamentals and more. I am very computer literate and I really saw no problem in learning Photoshop from a book....well this must not be the book. Very difficult to follow and poorly organized, this may be a great book for old Photoshop hands moving to CS3 but it is not the book for beginners.


"Great book", I love this book. it has so many different ways of editing your picks, and lots of great tips on how to do different thing while taking pics. Great book. I would suggest this one to anyone who wishes to learn Photoshop. The books pictorials are in color which makes it great as well and easy to see how a picture will vary from one layer to the next.

"An excellent reference", An excellently produced book written in a logical ordered sequence which provides intelligent guidance through a very complex program. The book compares information from previous versions of Photoshop, thoroughly covers CS3, and forwards into the newer extended version. It includes a very instructive movie video (it is nice to be instructed with a clear English speaking voice) and also a picture gallery. I do not intend trying any other book on the subject as I do not believe one exists.

"Textbook for Beginning Photoshop", I bought this book for Beginning Photoshop class and I read one chapter. I think this will be an excellent book for anyone to follow preferably in a class situation. With this book and instruction and practice we can all become excellent beginning Photoshop users working with the current version CS3

"In question.", I wont lie to you, i havent givin this book much of a try however i can say you do have to read pretty hard just to get to the point of what is trying to be taught or shown. I bought this book at the same time which i bought "The Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers" and i can truthfully say in comparison its a bit cheesey at times yet has been extremly helpfull in my learning process. At this point id advise purchasing Scott Kellbies book over this for newbys to the digital/Photoshop world as its been quite helpfull.
