"I learned Dreamweaver all from this book"
To tell you the truth, I had no clue how to use Dreamweaver when I first installed the software until I purchase this book. I have build websites starting off with using the NOTEBPAD friend. So I knew some HTML codes already. But, this book helped me a lot in understanding what exactly Dreamweaver does. I love the exercises that she had to offer in every chapter. This book gave illustrations and exercises to help you understand Dreamweaver easier. I like how she made it easy to learn and understand at the same time. It was not boring at all compared to other books that only has texts. I would recommend this book to anybody because it helped me a lot in understanding Dreamweaver!

"Best way to learn Dreamweaver. Simply excellent!"
I have always wanted to learn Dreamweaver, but found the interface rather intimidating. Many people have told me that the learning curve is steep. I bought a couple of books on Dreamweaver, but gave up before reading halfway. Recently, I found this excellent Dreamweaver book by Lynda Weinman and Garo Green. The words "Hands-On Training" on the bookcover caught my eyes. I strongly believe in "learning by doing", and this book lives up to its reputation. As I read and practised along, I found myself picking up the skills very fast. I assure you that this is not just another dry, highly theoretical computer reference book. You will get a lot of fun actually trying out the different functions, and seeing the effects immediately. I strongly recommend this book to those with little or no background knowledge in Dreamweaver. I have so much faith in the authors that I plan to get another of their books soon.

"Dreamweaver 3 Hands-on-Training"
I bought this book because I was making the switch from Adobe GoLive to Dreamweaver. As an intermedediate level web developer I found this book to be just about perfect. I took it home and skimmed the material; then I did excercises only in the areas that I didn't understand--fast and efficient.

For someone with less experience than me, following the exercises in the order they are presented would give them a good grasp of both Dreamweaver and the principles of setting up a web page.

While I love the teaching technique that Lynda Weinman uses for technical matters, I am not crazy about her design examples from an artistic or communications point of view. There must be a good book out there on design; but I haven't found it.

"If there could be only one DW3 how-to book, this would be it"
After puttering around with the less than helpful manual, I picked up this amazing tome of Dreamweaver knowledge. For the novice to intermediate, this is a great manual. It reads well, flows beautifully, and is loaded with tips and tricks.

I would recommend this book to anyone serious about using Dreamweaver for their web site. The included cd has all the lessons on it, and the lessons themselves make simple to advanced web design a snap.

Great job, hopefully they will come out with a Dreamweaver 4 and Fireworks 4 manual.

"Perfect primer for beginners and intermediate users!"
This is the 4th - and thus far the best - Dreamweaver book I've read. It's large enough to be very comprehensive, but is also very friendly and conversational in tone (without resorting to corny humor, as with most "Dummies" books).

A CD-ROM is included with all the exercise files you need plus demo versions of the programs you'll be using. Each chapter builds upon skills learned in previous chapters. In fact, most of the exercises are used repeatedly, with each chapter having you perform more and more advanced functions with them. This makes learning quicker, as you can see how you are adding various features to the same web site, rather than starting with a completely new and unfamiliar site for each exercise.

I was eager to learn more than the book has to offer on some occasions, as with Timelines, where I wanted to know how to make a timeline animation follow a curved line rather than a straight line, or how to make a Layer's position relative to other objects on the page, rather than relative to the browser's borders (X and Y coordinates), neither concept of which the book discusses. These are advanced capabilities than I can always find in more advanced books.

One caveat: be sure to check the author's web site for updated files and/or corrections to errors in the book, which are thankfully few.

This is an excellent book for the beginner, and even if you've used Dreamweaver for a little while you'll undoubtedly pick up some new skills. Great value for the money and highly recommended!

What our customer's say!

"Gets you up and running quickly", Her book was the only book I got for creating a Website with Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Following her tutorials I built a fabulous Website with cascading style sheets, rollovers, the works. I was never bored or confused, and I understood the "why" and well as the "how."

I've just downloaded a trial version of Dreamweaver MX and came here specifically to get HER book on Dreamweaver MX. Sadly, she doesn't seem to have published one.

"Great Writer, layout and Presentation", Lynda Weinman knows what she is talking about. I have learned quite a bit following her lead.

"Excellent Learning Tool", I highly recommend this book. It was an excellent learning tool for me as a beginner. The tutorials were fabulous!

"Absolutely the Best", I must say that Lynda is, hands down, the best instructor I've ever come across on the printed page. I've been using Dreamweaver for over two years and I learned so much from this book. The chapters and exercises were so concise, so ordered and really a lot of fun. I recommend this book whole-heartedly!

"Great first web book", I enjoyed the exercises and layout of the book. For someone who never did any web development this book is great.

"BUY THIS BOOK!!!!", I bought this book having little to no experience with Dreamweaver. In a matter of a couple of days, I was up and running the program. Tutorials are easy to follow and very informative. I just cannot say enough about how good this book is. The "basics" and more are covered in detail.... Im buying more of Lynda and Garo's books!!!

"One of the best hands-on-training book ever", This is one of the best hands-on-training book that I have ever come across. It is easy to understand and the author has focused attention on the student (who DO NOT KNOW Dreamweaver). One of the things I liked best is the way the author repeatedly reminds you of how to use a particular task or function. Lot of times the author just assumes that the student should know that by now and continues the chapter as if we are experts already. The author has made it simple, interesting and exciting. I finished the book in 8 days. Many times these kind of books which are supposed to be hands-on-training, ends up not so hands-on-training; where we get lost or the author assumes most of the time that we know it all. But here is a book where the author really takes your hand and walks you thru it step by step, reminding you every now and then what you have learned in the previous steps...just in case you forgot. Very well done! If you are like me (very new to web design), this is the book for you. My son gave it to me as a gift. It helped me to kick start my venture in the web design world. Thanks to him.

"The best DW training book I've found to date", If you are new to Dreamweaver, or have been struggling with it, this is the best book written to date. Formatted as a learning book, rather than a bible, it takes you through enough information to get you started. There are, however, too many features of DW to print without resorting to a strait reference book so when you finish this, you'll still have plenty to learn.

I actually went through this book using Dreamweaver Ultradev 4, so if you don't want to wait for their new version you should be fine. As a PC user, it was slightly annoying looking at screenshots from a macintosh all of the time, but it didn't cause a problem.

"Buy this book or get the new one DW4 H.O.T. but buy one!!!!!", All I can say is get this book if you ant to learn Dreamweaver 3. The ONLY reason not to buy this book is to wait a bit longer for Dreamweaver 4 H.O.T. by the same authors!!! I have upgraded and can tell you that Macromedia takes the perfection they had in DW3 and takes it another notch higher with DW4 !!! Now, DW3 HOT will teach you basics and intermediate level training. The rest is up to you. The format, layout, organization, lesson plan and examples are brilliant ! Weinman and Green know their stuff! Lynda teaches Macromedia products at her own facility, you can tell she does when you get 20 pages into this book. When I had to learn DW3, I chose this book on high word of mouth recommendation. THANK HEAVENS I DID! This book was pure pleasure from front to back to learn from. I started out alert and awake at 8am. By 11pm I was still at it on page 300 and cruising! It swept me in! I did the whole book, played around a few days then re-did the whole book for fun and reinforcement of the lessons. The book starts light and easy, preps you with a short foundation, then dives right in to using the product. This book will not teach you every web design under the trick, and you should not expect that. It focuses strictly on DW3 skills and proper design principles along the way!!! YES......finally someone did a book the right way from cover to cover!!!

"Excellent step by step instruction", I was able to learn Dreamweaver by working through the easy to read sequence of instructions. I also appreciated the technical tips on publishing. The reason I did not give it a five-star rating was because I thought the layout/graphics were a bit dull.
