"Wow - what a great idea!"
This cookbook is great for any family - from a single who wants to eat well and entertain easily, a couple of seniors, or a family on the go.
The recipes are real food and the instructions are complete (i.e. - how to make it, eat it now, or freeze for later). Try this book - you can adapt your meal preparation to suit your schedules. After over 50 years of cooking and a zillion other cookbooks there was still a lot of new invaluable techniques and hints. Great gift book for everyone.

"Wait 'til it's reprinted "
This book has a few good recipes, but is not best of the books out there. Most of the recipes are not "freezer to table", if what you're looking for is something to just pull out of the freezer when you get home, as you would a TV dinner. No, these you have to let thaw completely before you cook them, which means you have to remember to pull them out of the freezer several hours ahead of time (something that doesn't always happen when you're busy). You're much better off cooking the entire batch, and then dividing them up into freezer portions so you can microwave them later for a quick dinner.

Also, out of about 100 recipes, 20+ have errors. It's one thing to write in cookbooks with your own adjustments, but you shouldn't have to make corrections. Unless this book comes 'way down in price, you would be better off waiting until the next edition comes out so you can have a clean copy.

"Not What I Expected"
I purchased this cookbook hoping it would have some of their wonderful recipes offered at any Dream Dinner location. I was sadly mistaken. These recipes seem to be old family favorites, and not the delicious meals created by the expert Chef's at Dream Dinners. I did however, find 5-10 recipes that I will try. You've probably seen most of the recipes in here, only they put their own little twist on it. Overall, its not a horrible cookbook, just not what I expected.

"Good, could be better"
I overall like the book. I thought it could have been better. It seems they are trying to come off as more gourmet, not as family friendly. But it has a well-deserved spot on my shelf.

"I just wasted a lot of money..."
I am pretty upset. I just ordered a brand new cookbook, followed the recipe for a triple batch of the artichoke chicken casserole (which was about $50 worth of supplies. I knew better...I knew there was no way that 1 1/2 cups of uncooked rice would be able to reconstitute with the amount of liquid in the sauce. But, I trusted the book. What a disaster. I am about to call Papa John's. Here is the corrected cookbook (sorry, I didn't think to check for corrections since I just bought the book).

Woops, there are 45 PAGES OF CORRECTIONS!!!! Seriously? How did this book make it through to publishing? Whoever edited it should be fired. If you go to the dream dinners website there is a link with all of the corrections.

Here are the recipes that have erros:

What our customer's say!

"Save your money!", Thankfully I was able to check this book out from the library and therefore did not waste any money. If you are tempted to buy this book I would strongly encourage you to visit your library first as well! I was interested in this book because I would like to have dinners in the freezer for busy weeknights and last-minute guests, the title and cover are very appealing and reads "Turn Dinnertime into Family Time with 100 Assemble-and-Freeze Meals" - sounds great, right? Well, after reading the book I did not write down even one recipe to try... I have to say I did glean some ideas from the book that I will try with recipes I already have, such as freezing muffin batter... The few recipes in the book that sounded like something my family might actually eat, I already have great recipes for and will make and freeze using my recipes and not the ones from the book. Many of the recipes are not appealing to my family (myself, husband, 12 year old son, 10 year old son). A sample of the recipe names which make me want to *not* own this book include: "Greatest Grub Ever Crab Chili", "Dill Shrimp with Angel Hair Pasta", "Sake and Soy Marinated Salmon", "Stuffed French Bread" (you stuff it with chicken sausage and other items which do not sound appealing to me), "Chicken Cordon Bleu", "Caribbean Blackened Turkey", "Reuben Casserole" (I don't know of any kids who eat sauerkraut), "Sloppy Joes" (sounds normal - but it's not), "Smoked Turkey and Red Grape Salad". Again, if you are at all considering purchasing this book, do yourself (and your family) a favor and preview it first! As for me, it's back to the library to check out similar books that are hopefully better suited to my family's taste buds.

"wasnt sure at first.. but its ok", When I first received this cookbook first thing I noticed was how unprofessional it appeared. The pages are all different lengths and made from a cheap feeling paper, BUT I think the content is great.. Easy to follow instructions and some really good dinners! I have liked every dish that I have made so far.

"Would have returned if I could have", I was really excited when I got the book, as I love the idea behind Dream Dinners. I have been to the store a couple of times and was ready to create some of the things I had there. Unfortunately none of the items that are in the store are in the book. The recipes that are in the book are not even close to being as good as the ones in the store either. The directions are not all that clear, there are no pictures, and as for reheating, I am not sure if the authors even tried to reheat the items as they all seem wrong when I do them. I would not recommend this book, there are several others out there that are better than this. If it hadn't been a gift I would have returned it. Dream Dinners could, and should have done a much better job than this.

"too many mistakes", I wouldn't re-make 90% of the meals I've made from these recipes, and I've tried a bunch of them. My family isn't picky, so they eat it, but none of us love the food. It is convenient to be able to make two extra meals to freeze when making dinner, but it isn't worth it when we aren't looking forward to pulling them out of the freezer. Also, I was surprised to see just how many mistakes there were in the recipes. It's a nice idea, but it's just not worth the money. I'll be trying another freezer cookbook.

"A complete rip-off ", I was a frequent Dream Dinners customer before we moved to a new area without a Dream Dinners franchise. The book info states it contains "Dream Dinners favorites", and everyone in the family eagerly looked forward to its arrival. What a disappointment. None of the more popular Dream Dinners recipes were in the book. Only one recipe that we have made at Dream Dinners over the years was in the book. The recipes contained within are stereotypical of any junior league cookbook most of us have lying around the house. The directions are vague. I would return it but it is not worth the return shipping cost to do so, so I will probably donate it to one of my college bounds kids. As a (former) Dream Dinners customer, this book is a huge disappointment, did not live up to what was promised and I feel completely ripped off.

"A Working Mom's Best Friend", Dinner preparation has never been faster nor easier than it became after I purchased this cookbook. I'm able to have dinner on the table in minutes, and they are healthful -- no weird preservatives or artificial junk that my family doesn't need to eat.

Here's what I do: I use a grocery delivery service. When I place my order online, I have my Dream Dinners cookbook in front of me. Based on what meats are on sale, I choose a beef, a pork and a chicken recipe (sometimes I substitute a pasta, turkey or other meal). I then add the ingredients I will need to make 3 of each recipe. It's usually just another $60 or so on my order. When the order arrives, I take two hours or so to put all of my dinners together. At the end, I have about 12 dinners to stack and freeze in my freezer. TWO HOURS to make 12 dinners -- miraculous!

Some of my family's favorites -- Pork Tenderloin with Pears, New England Pot Roast. Happy assemble-and-freezing!

"Bravo! A Great Resource", Busy mothers, rejoice. Dinner is served - or almost, anyway. Using the innovative assemble-and-freeze method developed by the founders of the Dream Dinners stores around the country, even the busiest of cooks can learn how to pour ingredients into plastic bags and freeze them, then cook as needed. Whether for breakfast, dinner, parties or dessert, just a few hours in the kitchen will yield weeks of hassle-free meals.

I would have liked to see more photos and graphics (they're always appreciated with cookbooks), but still, this is a fantastic resource. Bravo!

"A Dream Recipe Cookbook!", I've been to the Dream Dinner stores to prepare meals & wanted to see whether I could prepare similar meals on my own. And the answer is yes! The recipes allow you to make 1, 2, or 3 meals at a time. You may cook or freeze any combination of the recipes. Instructions for cooking the frozen meals are included. Preparing for dinnertime or entertaining has never been so easy!

"Despite reviews, I like it!", My sister and I started doing our own Dream Dinner sessions at home for half the price that we would have spent if we went to the actual facility. We are able to make 12 meals in 3-4 hours for each month and I have found most of them to be good. They are not absolutely incredible, but are ideal for everyday dinners. The only one that we have made so far that was inedible was the cider braised pork chops. We loved the ravioli with chicken and pesto sauce and the chicken cordon bleu. We are starting our second month and it seems even better than the first. I am finding that the casserole dishes are often best when it comes to frozen meals. As for the instructions, I haven't found it to be ambiguous but that may be because my sister has done dream dinners for years so she is able to answer any questions.

"Disappointed with quality of book and recipes", I've been to Dream Dinners and my family liked the meals. This cookbook has helped me do a lot more freezer cooking, which is nice as a busy mom of 5. However, I am continually disappointed by the sloppy nature of this cookbook-it seems like they just threw it together. There are numerous errors in the recipes, and the directions are sometimes vague. I do cook a lot and was able to spot many of these, but it is still frustrating. Many of the recipes are very good, but just as many are poor. If you are looking for a "best of " Dream Dinners, this is not it. I do use the book a lot, and often use it as a reference on how to multiply and freeze some of my other favorite recipes. A good book which I would recommend, but not really what it should be.
